  1. Decals were done by Custom Worx in Centurion. Got the Jpeg's off the net took it to them & voila. Following day they were done + they of much better quality than the crap SRAM puts on there as decals white hubs probaly would look nice but that i just dont have the energy for. Im very happy with it as is
  2. Well it started off with me uuuummmmiiinngg & Aaaaiiiingg should I, Shouldnt I & what will it cost. The result was this. A friend of mine that can actually spray & me that will just actually do it like my backside if i had to attempt it. Forks got a service & i fixed what seemed a terminal oil leak. Below is the start & then the WIP & then the end result. Just wanna thank my friend - you know who you are for making this a reality for me Before: WIP: After Spray: Finished Product: BumpNgrind2009-06-30 05:41:27
  3. noticed the exact same thing his morning travelling down Hans Strijdom through Garsfontein PTA. No lights, pitch dark & 3 roadies. Hans Strijdom is extremely busy & they riding 3 abreast with no room left for me as i was in the slow lane & there was a car next to me so i had to slow down to about 25km/h so the 1 turns around & gives me the upyours for no apparent reason as i didnt hoot & kept a fair distance behind them. All i wanna say is - Youre a damn rude pig & your a bunch of fools seeing as though its pitch dark & you do not have lights on & then still have the audacity to zap me when youre riding 3 abreast in peak hour traffic. i hope you read my post. & dont complain when you get knocked off your bike cause all youre doing is acting like a poephol & making your name totie. I laughed at you by the way. You looked quite comical, even the girl in the corsa next to me laughed at you, what a fool you are !! edited: & clearly you do not take head of rules of the road - single file boetie, in case you didnt notice doing what you did this morning is an invitation for a taxi to knock you off - who knows maybe youre asking for it !!BumpNgrind2009-06-24 23:52:13
  4. Well i know youve found your solution which i hope helps you all the time going forward. My problem was cramping hands but that was due to me gripping my handlbars too tightly subconciesly ( spelling sucks - Actaully how do you spell that ? ) & then my ring finger would also be excrusiatingly sore at the joints. It still hurts but thats my fault cause i still grip too hard & only realise it when its too late
  5. no no no. I dont understand why you wanna go spend a hell of a lot of money on a different fork. Its the easist thing to pull apart & if its leaking out the rebound adjust then it means the seal has been pinched during assembly of the fork or its worn. Ive just pulled mine apart & i have the 302's aswell & it cost me litterally almost nothing. Granted someone here on the hub was super duper nice to me & gave me a full bottle of fork oil. It really isnt rocket science on a coil fork to pull apart & re-asemble. I cant really speak of air forks as ive never pulled those apart I guarentee you this. You will asemble it better than it came out of the factory & voila no more leaks. Mine also leaked & best of all it already started leaking in my car all over my front seat before i even got home. I pulled it apart as new as it was & there was my problem. The rebound damper seal was pinched. Ran off to midas & got a pretty cool seal set & fixed it myself. If you had to do it yourself it will cost you + - R150 - Send it into a shop & they charge you +- R400. Buying a new fork will be nothing less than 2K. A simple oil leak in my eyes cannot justify the price of a new fork for you but hey thats just me
  6. shoooo thats quite the average speed you got going there on the PnP special. If you were to ride with other guys on a much lighter bike - half the weight in fact - you will be pretty up there in the bunch
  7. I got it thanks, sorry for no reply, its been mayhem here at work
  8. naaa im gonna leave the crown black as is. I anticipated that, that would be a moerse problem but its just the lower legs. Problem is now ive already taken the legs off & the stanchions are lying covered up in the garage so im basically almost forced to have the fork legs sprayed as i orginally wanted to do or asemble the fork again & leave it as isBumpNgrind2009-05-27 08:26:35
  9. ok thats a bit more than i expected. I was thinking around the R350-R450 mark. My frame is pearl white & i definately dont wanna change that, I love that color, but the forks are black at the moment & i want them candy white. Saw a pic of a commencal with white rock shox rebas on a pearl white frame & it just WOWED me so ive decided to do it as well At that cost im wondering if it isnt then worth my while doing it myself then ?
  10. I see a lot of people ask the same question & im sitting in the same predicament & try not to pry what people paid to have their bikes sprayed but im curious I dont specifically want the entire bike sprayed, Just my fork legs but it seems no one can help me. I want to have it sprayed candy white to match my white frame. Perhaps those that have had sprays done before can perhaps give me a ball park figure Now the big question is: What can i expect to pay for a spray done professionally on my fork legs + - . I already know what its going to cost me if i do it by myself.
  11. Well with a lift club I do 38000 a year, you can definately double that up if i drove in by myself to work. Nothing against JHB at all but it is my preference to stay in PTA & work here in good ol joeez my car after 2years is now siting on just under 80000 & incl of 3 trips to st lucia & twice to sabie for MTBing of course
  12. Well let me tell you this is an education of note for me & it will definately help put the puzzle pieces together when i pull the fork apart on Saturday. This is probaly old news but i had no idea that the oil actually heats up to those type of temps. I purely under the impression that its there for lubrication ( which it is ) but without tempratures coming into the equation. In other words lower viscosity oils will under perform from the get go if your ambient temprature is high for instance in summer & technically perform better with a lower ambient temp in winter sho this is very interesting !!BumpNgrind2009-05-27 06:08:01
  13. Added onto this post i would like it if someone could please help me in the right direction WRT costs Wanna spary my fork legs white to match my frame as posted earlier & probably will take it to someone to do however if it costs to much I know someone that will spary for me. What i want to know is +- what will it cost me if i have it done professionaly ( custom worx In particular ). Would prefer doing it that way as i would like my bike asembled asap without losing too much time off the saddle with it being with people that can only do it when they have time PLEASE HELP !!.
  14. Holy mother, that is a lot of info to try digest yet alone try to fathom as im not good at all the algorithms that you have posted. Here i was thinking it was going to be pretty easy to get my forks serviced & luckily rock shox suggest i only use 5wt & 15wt to run around the seals however im not going to buy 2 different oils just for the sake of lubing the seals. They will get the same treatment as what goes into the fork itself 5wt Wish i could just get smaller qty of the oil as the motorcycle store i spoke to only sell it in 1Ltr QTY's. Oh well i guess it will last quite a couple more services then. how is it that you are so knowledgeable about oils golefty?. generally thats not a thing that interests a whole lot of people. btw i find this very interesting topic as well even though i dont understand some of the things you speak about but thats for me to go research not so...BumpNgrind2009-05-27 03:49:05
  15. im not a roadie at all, but shoooo weeee. Samma what a sweet ride. Now know what a mission it is to actually spray something. In the process of getting my fork legs sprayed on my MTB & you right. Its from here to there trying to get all the things arranged
  16. Thanks a mil, Gave them a call earlier & they said it would be R83.80 for a litre. Dunno if i can get less though cause im not going to use even half that. Ill be using max 160ml but i was starting to stress that i wouldnt be able to find it. Quick question though.... What is the difference though between 2.5 & 5 wt. I know 2.5 will be lighter but is it good enough for lubrication. Why do they reccomend 5wt if you can actually put 2.5wt in the fork & which is actually better 2.5 or 5wt. Im a dummy when it comes to oils. I usually put in what is recomended from the service manualsBumpNgrind2009-05-26 05:10:11
  17. Hi All Hope you ll be able to assist me here. Need to know where i can buy 5wt fork oil in the pta east area or where i can get it at all. Need to service my shocks
  18. Ive got 302's & they gave me a little k@k in the beginning but i took them in under warranty & now i ride the cr@p out of them. Perhaps a little plush if your a heavy typa person but if not then i say go for it. Theyve kind of impressed me quite a bit. i didnt think it would hold up as good as it has. Another downside is weight as mentioned before but what i like is that the Stanchions are nice & thick & its a sturdy fork. Id say go for it. I bought mine new. I prefer that & paid 2500. Anymore than that & youll be ripped off
  19. Hi Di This might sound stupid, but its happened to me before. Is your backwheel tight enough on the quick releases & in what condition are they. I fthey are worn from wheels being taken on & off constantly for the bike rack n stuff, eventually the skewer part that attaches onto the frame start to move on the farme. This is very little movement but as ive noticed, un-aligns the wheel itself causing i sideways play movemement as you peddle & stop peddleing. In other words the wheel is wobbling within the confines of the frame spaces that the skewers fit in. This will most definately cause skipping gears & when freewheeling might cause the chain to slacken up as there is no torque being put down on the peddles anymore. Like i said, this has happened to me & the quickest solution & only solution was to replace skewers in my case ( the problem was that they didnt have those grooves in the end caps of the skewers anymore & even tho i tightened them properly it would still slide when under peddle torque). Just uncanny that the symptoms sound similiar. Please just check though before you go out & just buy new skewers. I could be totally off track here & as they say, use it - dont use itBumpNgrind2009-05-21 02:05:19
  20. what a sweet pic hmmmm, youre right - I am rather jealuos sitting in this boring office on my bum when i could rather be out riding
