  1. Thanks V12! Still much research to do... I have a Krupps which is very basic so looking to upgrade that to a prosumer/entry level home setup. The Krupps has a Panarello frother and a pressurised portafilter so that is the main issues with it. Also the Krupps grinder is a very basic burr design. Thus I want something with a normal steam wand so I can actually get some microfoam (with practise and lessons) and also a non-pressurised portafilter so I can pull a shot with actual crema (again with practise and lessons). To get good steam the thermoblock/coils seem to suck so a SB seems to be the best start. That's the minimum. I would also prefer something that looks nice Grinder wise a prosumer/home entry level conical burr grinder that can grind fine enough for the machine I get to do shots. More consistancy in the amount of grounds and distribution of their overall fineness would also be needed. Seems to be a big gap between the 2k appliance store machines and something decent for the home. From what I've read the Racillio Rocky/Silvia were recommended for what I want to do and are in the ballpark price wise, which is why I mentioned them. There is a local distributor atleast. Oscar looks good (not the best looking) but getting on the expensive side (specially factoring in a grinders cost), but again a HX so a step up from a SB I understand? Does NS make a smaller machine than the Oscar? I liked the look and features of the CC1, but agree the steaming is not ideal. Will take a look at the Ascaso. I just don't want to go into the Rocket/mazzer range price and kit wise. As much I as I love coffee I don't feel I can justify it.
  2. Thanks did so, no local supplier and he doesn't seem to be bothered to help. Looking at a machine in that class, so Silvia/CC1 or maybe an Oscar. Like the look and PID functionality of the CC1. Silvia looks old Still looking at my options.
  3. Interested in a Crossland Coffee CC1 but there's no local distributor. Anyone have a source that will ship to SA or can bring one in for me? I imagine plugs and voltage may be an issue.
  4. Digital EPO for your GPS files. Fail. http://road.cc/content/news/84868-digital-epo-smash-your-strava-times…-cheating
  5. Ah ok explains why the blonde wanted my Crank Brothers cap and I went from G to A when I raced the series
  6. In Ballito now but will join after the 21st when I'm back from the 70.3
  7. Long story? We have time...
  8. Mods - can we please merge all the pta threads on riding? This is confusing
  9. Yip I'm sorry, I have paid for such private work and was still not 100% happy, which at that rate I think I should be. DIY is the way.
  10. Lynnwood Cyclery is the name of the PTA Specialized Concept store, located next to the Barden tyres place. @lynnwoodcyclery on the Twitters. Gert is the manager that used to work at the FPC, which turned into the Cyclery and moved. FPC is no more AFIK.
  11. Yebo Daniel. Early morning or late afternoon or even lunch time some days
  12. Just check the spray, mine had expired and I never noticed it. No use if it doesn't work when you need it...
  13. Thanks I know where this is. Glad you are OK! Did it once with the Bester Cycles group and it was dodgy. Lots of squatters in the area unfortunately. Try join us for some rides in the area. There is a PTA East rides thread. WW.
  14. Let me know when you guys are riding again and I will tag along!
  15. Warning signs or grading is cool and needed I think, but some places like that rocky climb against the fence by the R21 seems to have been scraped with rocks packed and dumbed down. Hopefully more for erosion control than anything else? It's the only place I can get to regularly to really practice my technical riding, so hope the tougher sections don't get removed. Nothing quite like finaaaally clearing a section for the 1st time that you have been stalling on.
  16. Also interested, need to get back on the bike
  17. Eish! What happened? Glad you are OK. How is the bike?
  18. My issue here is that they will probably not feel the effect of this as they will mostly train in a big group with a back-up vehicle of sorts. But the normal riders out there that ride alone are going to get the flack from people pissed off by their inconsiderate behaviour, increasing the chance of someone getting whacked by a mirror and alienating more drivers from our cause.
  19. I feel indirectly yes. You are making it more difficult for us to get other road users on our side and get legislation passed. Which can lead to others being hurt unnecessarily.
  20. There will be plenty don't worry!
  21. The GT Zaskar 9r Expert seems good value in that class at 13,5k.
  22. Hope has the District tail light, very bright but a bit expensive for some perhaps. Lezyne has the microdrive lights which also look good. Then exposure has the flash and flare lights as well.
  23. Glad to hear you came away OK! Be careful in that area, there have been many incidents there.
  24. Awesome! That should be permanent in any bike shop or home even
