  1. Dealt with CRC a few times and really happy. Ordered a camelbak running pack from Evans and wow it was here in about 10days with the free postage to my po box, no vat or customs issues (I know thats a gamble) but I'm impressed.
  2. We had a Saeco where I used to worked and I ended up cleaning it all the time, as the others were too lazy and I have a Jura at home so have an idea how it works. In the end I ended up not drinking coffee at work and bringing my own from home in the morning so I didn't have to clean it anymore. It constantly needed water, beans, grounds to be emptied, descaling, filter replacement etc. The big beech is however the milk frothing system. I would advise against any of these auto frothing pipe type systems most semi-auto machines has at people will not clean it after using it and then it gets very grimy, scaly, stinky and blocked very quickly.
  3. 2 extra pages of data. Woot ! Was just thinking that it would be cool to have more pages so they can be setup for laps and interval work. Wish answered
  4. Wow well done on that comeback Gunn-rita !
  5. Ja what is the story with Conrad's kit, I see it has no logos of any of his sponsors ? Also if Dan was not selected as he failed to follow procedure, is there anyone else going or is it only Stoltz ?
  6. Maybe on some models of Super Automatics. On our Jura Imprezza F50 you have mild/normal/strong, where it grinds more coffee or less. Then you can adjust the grind but I haven't found that to really work. Can't remember if there's a temp option, think so but very small range, more help in terms of hotter/colder coffee.
  7. Depends if you need to swim and want power meter data, then Garmin. Cheaper too. The Ambit has a long battery life at almost 50 hours, but not many times I will go over 20 hours of endurance activities at one time. Also that means 60sec gps synch and 10 second recording, so not very accurate in twisty areas. However not sure if the 40% discount from Momentum Multiply applies on the Ambit, which would make it a steal.
  8. I love their sizing! Buying most locally made kit in a small still means baggy for me. My Fox jersey fits like a glove
  9. Depends on your LBS but here in PTA the local SW is mostly priced in relation to the market I have found
  10. Just remember to test all this stuff in training, both too see what works but also how your stomach handles it and what is palatable for you
  11. Thanks for the info will pop in sometime
  12. They could be designed by NASA for all I care, will never buy one again !
  13. We have a Jura, great for convenience but expensive. In the short run a nespresso will be convenient and cheap but the pods will add up over time. Not sure how the other super auto machines like the Krupps or Delonghi around 5k perform but maybe look into that. If however you have the time and want to make an effort the Aeropress is awesome (as has been mentioned) or if you are not strictly looking for espresso a nice french press or Bialetti Moka Pot. As always fresh coffee that you like coupled with the best grinder you can afford (to freshly grind the fresh coffee) will render the best results. I also have a little Krupps semi-auto and for the money it's not a bad little machine but you need to want to do some work when making coffee to use one. I also bought the cheap Krupps burr grinder (not sure if its conical but I've taken the burrs out and they are not much to write home about but the again for R500 you can't expect more..) as Walker has to go with it and together with good fresh coffee I do (to my taste) pull better shots than our Jura although FAR less consistant in nature. One or two "god shots" have been made with the Krupps and they make you realise just why you spent all the time to make just 30 or 60ml of liquid If you go the semi-auto route get a good coffee making handbook or go for some classes. It took me a long time and much browsing of the net to get an idea of what I was supposed to be doing. Sites like Seattle Coffee Company's YouTube stream, Sweet Maria's and Coffee Geek are all good resources. You can also join SCASA for free and receive cool info via email. Not sure if that was helpfull but there you go anyway...
  14. Some gold nuggets here guys, read up ! I struggle with my Bialetti, any advice on grind and how much to use ? To me with an electric stove plate it seems a bit hit and miss in terms of the heat it receives, gas would be better ? Also while most decent coffee shops in Pretoria make a good cappuccino, from the ones I've tried so far only Pure Cafe and the new LivLife (not sure what it's called) in woodlands mall makes a decent espresso. The others - Woolworths, Full Cream Cafe and Vovotelo's all produce sour underextracted shots in my opinion. Maybe you need to go give them some lessons
  15. Those are really just marketing blurbs, none of those machines reach anywhere near those pressures and they aren't used to make the coffee anyway. Shots are pulled in the region of 8-9bar (machine dependant ofcourse) Also beware of the entry level semi-auto machines that have pressurised portafilters created to make 'false' crema, though you can get non-pressurised portafilter baskets/portafilters online that will give better shots but are much more finicky in terms of grind etc.
  16. 7g to 100ml for 30 sec ? What are you using to make that shot ? 7g should pull around a 30ml shot in 25 seconds from my experience or something is off
  17. Good luck with the venture Barend. If I may ask, what is Bennie the previous owner up to now ?
  18. Well done to sportsmans then !
  19. Hi Guys Looking to get a pair of these for trailrunning and specifically the Magalies Mayhem that is coming up. Any opinions on these ? On poles for trailrunning in general ? Other options ? Thanks WW.
  20. Well I've done as much training as I can, may do a short run or two but mostly just resting till the event. Getting excited
  21. I like it on my head to light where I'm looking but still feel the need for a bike mounted light as well with more spread that cover the front of the bike. For trailrunning it is also great but again I like to mount a light on my pack/waist to help with preventing tunnel vision and increase depth perception.
  22. Had 2 pairs of spez ridge gloves, excellent glove but kept tearing on the left thumb. Using another Spez model now, will see if it lasts
  23. After building a solid bike base in December/Jan I started training for the 1st XCO race of the seaon and got injured and from there I have only been trailrunning. I'm up to 26km now as my longest run and will be doing the Magalies Mayhem 3 day trailrun in the beginning of May at Van Gaalen's. As much as I love cycling there's just something about moving along the trails using only your feet, no fancy bike tech getting in the way.
