  1. I've always ridden like that. The guy's that have laughed at me doing so can take a kite!
  2. Apparently the driver has been left off with a warning until 22 March and the case postponed.
  3. According to the NY times article the taxi made a U-turn, but it remains to be seen what really happened.
  4. I'll be there with GU. See you all out on course and at the expo/registration. Have a safe, fast and enjoyable one!
  5. I don't see a way of this working to be honest but maybe someone else has an idea? But it does seem to be the most immediate solution. We need everyone to play nice on the roads but that will take a long time, if it ever happens.
  6. Coming back from a run in Groenies I already saw 2 guys skipping robots on bikes. Not helping... Hope the riders make a speedy recovery and those at fault are brought to justice!
  7. Very apprehensive to get on the road bike to be honest. Considered selling it. One the one hand I don't want this to take away my freedom and enjoyment of riding, though I really just use the road bike to train for mtb riding, I still enjoy riding it. But on the other I'd rather keep riding mtb and leave the road than doing no riding at all. I saw on twitter another gal was hit in PTA as well, in hospital apparently. Hope she pulls through!
  8. Awesome!
  9. It's about as flat and fast as it can get. Racing starts already in the supposed neutral zone on the tar. Sandy in places and some corners. Quite thorny so tubeless with sealant is advisable. Not sure if the route has changed but usually there are two small and very short steepish climbs that are a bit rocky so just power up them. It can get very hot if you do the 70km ride as it's 2 laps so take enough liquids with you. They don't really have much more than sachets of water last time I rode it. Be aware of fast guys passing you from the longer distance. No clue how it compares.
  10. I have no words. You will be sorely missed Burry.
  11. Another vote for the Serfas Seca RS. Got them at Sportsman's Warehouse for R200 a tyre so widely available any time of the year. Touch wood no issues yet. Use them with tyre liners as well, which is something you can look into.
  12. Magalies adventure or whatever it's called these days also comes to mind. Bit technical but not too long. The 3 Towers Challenge is awesome but you have to be able to climb. Allot.
  13. My 2c is that if he gets hurt, then Groenkloof somehow gets blamed and next thing we know we can't ride there anymore. Tell him to get a helmet next time I say
  14. Give trailrunning a bash. The movements are much more varied so I found it less likely to irritate the ITB versus running on the road it can happen quite quickly for me.
  15. KCNC Foam grips are Weight Weenie's budget lightweight pick
  16. Took me the same time to ride to work than it did to drive there and I was way more relaxed
  17. Was referring to the falling off the bike part, but you have the rest waxed as well.
  18. So how does this compare the Magalies Adventure stage race and the 35km Nissan route at Van Gaalen's ? That's the only riding I've done in the area.
  19. As it's on my bifday I guess I have no choice but to ride it
  20. I think I need clean shorts now. NICE!
  21. Nice bike. You'll love the R1's! I'm not so sure about the carbon saddle rail though.
  22. Gobi ain't my thang either. Selle Italia SL/SLR range all the way.
  23. Got a Garmin Swim watch. Hopefully it will motivate me to get in the pool more...
