  1. I've only done road riding there and trail running. Road is lekker, there is security at both sides for what its worth, but still you do get some dodgy characters sitting around in their cars. Though there was always 1 or 2 police vehicles there when I was riding in the arfies. Very friendly, greeting you etc. Did a trailrun there with a lady friend, parked at the fort gate and went from there. Was a lekker run but area is not marked and kind of "secluded" so wouldn't do it alone. Maybe we can organise a mtb group ride there, map it with the gps and post "routes" here ?
  2. Makes sense what your saying Patham. Wonder what psycology says bout people centering things in the frame
  3. 450d with a 24-105 Dunno why but I like it, seems "arty"
  4. Want to build up a 140mm trail rig some time, ride up slowly but burn it down ! What do you guys think about this one http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=59168
  5. Didnt even know you get 180mm cranks, sjoe !
  6. Think you mean take a right on Atterbury, if you take a left you head towards Atterbury value mart.
  7. I wonder how many okes have actually gone and bought another brand bike/frame because they can't get what they want here in SA ? Local suppliers again shooting themselves in the foot it seems
  8. Try plastic bags for your feet and duct tape your shoes vents closed
  9. It looks terrible I know, but definitely beats having grit sprayed up your shorts in a ride, also keeps the stuff in your pockets clean
  10. Yes that is slightly worrying, looking at the weather report
  11. Yeah theres a coldfront coming which isnt ideal but hell I bought belaclavas, booties, lights etc. so why not give it a bash. I do have time in the afternoons but tend to not get to riding, traffic also becomes a bit heavy
  12. Ok so got some road cleats for my Candy pedals and had the headlight exchanged so anyone for a roadie jaunt tomorrow am ?
  13. THE is nice and bling, I know BBB makes a cheapy as well that looks/works the same. Only used mudguards once, in Dullstroom when I was in a proper thunderstorm. Worked like a charm ! Bought them for the Isuzu 3 towers and never used them but was money well spent. Look at these Topeaks if its reall wet and muddy http://www.topeak.com/products/Fenders/DeFenderM1_M2_Set R500
  14. CRC bundle was about 2,5k
  15. Only XCO race I've done was the 3 hour one at Rietvlei and I nearly died after a hard group ride the day before. Both bottles were finished halfway through, had to stop and make my recovery drink as a bottle Really did not want to do the last lap, went up that cement hill and let my legs dangle from the pedals, big mistake ! Cramped so bad I nearly fell off the bike Even Oom Bennie came in before me Hehe must have been that custom fox fork
  16. Was thinking of posting the same thing. Would be keen to ride, both mtb in the arfie and road bike at sparrows fart Will pm you. I had a few hubbers in the areas details before but never contacted them - Trelawney and Dubber88 might want to join. Mtb_josh ?
  17. How about some sort of home mechanic sticky thread ? Put all the tips, tools, links, advice etc in there ?
  18. Chubba I'm in exactly the same position, started buying tools over the weekend and did some searching on the hub as well. Johan has great courses, also want to do those myself, need to get dates from him. I bought a set of torq keys (Stanley brand), was about 80 bucks cheaper for the same thing than one that was Park tool branded.
  19. Waited 7 months to get a replacement frame. Nuff said !
  20. Tigger my Jack Russel as a puppy 450D with 24-70 f2.8
  21. Thanks for the comment Dangle. Daloco - That was the setlist for Wreslewrish (spelling?) so don't really know how theior stuff goes.
  22. Johan, you say you prefer the tools that have a built in handle. Been looking at those versus the seperate pieces like you mentioned. I understand the convenience factor, but how does one then ensure the part ie. external bb cup or lockring is torqued correctly or is this only an issue with the small bolts on stems and such ?
  23. Had a look at the site, nice kit ! Mailed them, hope pricing is reasonable
  24. Aking at Tings. Snake on the drums
  25. Glad you got sorted, might also get some of those. I distinctly remember standing there shivering in the start pen before the Walkerville race
