  1. the guy is the comedian "Michael Naiker"(sp) right ?
  2. As much as I'm trying to like GT I just can't, just had too much drama with the frames and Omnico. But these use a new layup/clear coat so should be fine. Did ride a Marathon model once, felt like a couch to me, hope these are more racy.
  3. Hiding in my room trying to study see the sms I sent. See you have replied, will chat about it tomorrow. If anyone is keen to join us for a road spin tomorrow arfie let us know.
  4. My main issue is that bikes can cause allot of damage to the paths that aren't made for them and I wouldn't want to see MTB'ing as a whole being banned in the reserve because people are ignorant/don't care/don't obey the rules etc. and end up ruining the trails, giving us a bad rep or hurting someone. I also run there allot. The bottle comment was tongue in cheeck though...
  5. Yeah, but previous models around 2-5k http://www.mammothoutdoor.co.za/headlamps-c275.html
  6. I WANT !!! http://silva.se/campaign/sprint
  7. Shot that makes sense ! So the normal kits only lacks the bike mount ? I'd get that then, otherwise I'll let you know about the extension cord if its not included
  8. Ask Stewie_911 he was running with me. I have a Fenix TK11 so at 225 lumens its bright enough, though the beam is a bit too focussed maybe. Was hectic coming down those groenkloof technical trails at speed, he was basically running blind behind me as he only brought a Petzl with. Had to shout if there were big drops etc. but there was enough light for both of us. Must have looked pretty funny though, me running with one arm moving and the other standing still with light in hand
  9. Theres service videos on the cb site and an article on bikeradar, pretty simple process it seems. You just need the kit and some grease and some basic tools and your good to go. Kits are available at bike shops but sure online as well - crc, cwc or buy cycle
  10. Thing is I went running with mine yesterday and the lack of a top strap means it tends to bounce and slide down, or it needs to be super tight which is irritating. I'm big on trail running so would enjoy to be able to do it in the dark and the H14 seems better suited, its brighter and specially if I can put the battery pack on my waist, as I wear a Camelbak Delaney Race pack around my waist anyway so there is space for it. Last night trail run I did was with my Fenix torch in hand, didnt work well. Rather wanna mount that on my helmet and get a magic light for the bars
  11. Thanks for the info but I'm confused. I understand it as follows : You get the light head, headstrap and battery pack as standard. The strap has clips for the light and battery pack that can be attached elsewhere ie. your belt Then there's a 2nd kit that also has a bike mount in addition to the above. Ok but say I go trail running and remove the battery pack from the headband and want to put it in my pocket, is the cable long enough ? Or do I need an extension cord ? Cna i buy this cord seperately or does it come in one of the kits ? Thanks WW.
  12. aha thanks for that Ashchest, thought the cable would be too short. So it can go in a jersey pocket ? That would mean less issues with helemt fitting/removal if I want to use it for running and I can mount the battery pack in my running belt as well so less bouncing Any experience with it dimming ? Does it stay on 220 lumen or go down to 190 ? A handlebar mount is included right ?
  13. Left is H14R, H7 and then H14 Fenix HP10 cannot be focused. H7 is not digitaly regulated but the H14 is
  14. H7 is not supposed to dim from what their site says. Fenix hp10 however only gives turbo output for 3 minutes so that rules it out. 120 lumens thereafter is not enough. H14 and H7 are IPX4. Now I see the H14 dims to 190 lumens after a few minutes to avoid overheating but the H14R stays a constant 220lumens. Can't be right ? Or does that mean if I use 2500mah AA's it will not dim, as their rechargeables are 2200mah and thus it only dims with alkalines ? Also H7 is rated as 150 or 170 lumen, unsure what its actual output is, but I doubt the change to 190 lumens will be noticeable, especially for double the price and more weight. Though I went running with the H7 last night, bit bouncy but I guess the strap just needs more adjusting, top strap would be cool though to keep it from sliding down.
  15. I'm 1.76 and ride a medium, large is too big. stretched out toptube and not enough stand over hight.
  16. USN Epic Turbo maybe ?
  17. Nope tank meant that as its mounted on the helmet you cant move the switch so it will be on full power when mounted. If the light is not digitally regulated it will start to dim AFIK. Used it for a night run, not bad but may get a Fenix hp10. Bit more powerfull and IPX8 rated. But dunno if it can go from spot to flood. Anyone ? Is the H7 waterproofed ? doubt it i I look at hte battery pack cover.
  18. I use neoprene flipper socks over a thin pair of socks and then booties over that. Snug as a bug in a rug
  19. How about we chip inn and get a private investigator ?
  20. Will try other batteries, the switch can't be moved though. Maybe the current is not regulated well enough ?
  21. Fork sag could also be an issue with tracking
  22. I agree with Phillip, if you want to keep the frame and chuck the parts it could work but thats an expensive excercise. The frame is not light as far as carbon goes and at this level there's no real benefit above alu, it's basically a R5k generic frame branded as Schwinn from what I understand. For that money rather look at something in the classifieds or get a good alu bike like a Silverback with XT for about 11k, think its called the Spectra ? If you really must have carbon rather get a generic frame and spec it to your liking/wallet capacity with new better parts or parts from the hub.
  23. I understand it as trail - 120mm and all-mountain - 140mm For general relaxed riding around and stage races, the 120mm trail bike seems perfect ie. Giant Trance, Merida 120, GT Sensor Then there's the 140mm bike, climbs slowly and steadily so it goes anywhere but enough travel to hit a rough decent fast and some jumps. ie. Giant Reign, Mongoose Teocali, GT Force. This seems like the bike you are looking for. Have a look on crc - Sunn bikes are on special, also obike.co.za and theres a Viper 140mm frame with Fox Rp2/3 on crc for under 5k, which you could build up. Classifides also have bikes but I would be wary, bikes like this take allot of abuse to check it out properly before you commit. I also want to get a bike like this when I have a bit of spare cash. maybe near the end of the year
  24. Bester Cycles. My LBS, well done to them Glad they could help
  25. I have the magneto. Great jacket. Rear zipper vents dont really help IMO. Also at high speed I found air comes in the collar even if zipped up all the way, making me cold. Sleeve removal is simple enough, some may be able to do it while riding. As a vest its also good, though the top of the back is mesh so again if going fast you can catch some wind there. However breathability is good, done allot of running in mine as well even when drizzling/raining and the zips allow good core temp regulation. Water resistance is fine for light rain, it will probly become saturated at a point and you will start getting wet. I did use the vest only in a huge downpour in Dullstroom last year and I'm happy to report that it kept my core bone-dry, even though everything else was soaked. Wasn't in the rain for very long though, maybe 15-30 min. Fit wise, the drop tail works well, can at times cathc on a saddle. Also I feel front could be shorter, fine if you stand or run but tends to fold/crumple when on hte bike which can be annoying. I took a small, but the arms are too wide on the upper part, makes it flappy in the wind, can become irritating. Cyclists dont have rugby player biceps ! The blue looks good and cleans well, just take care in not using fabric softner and use a detergant like Nikwax Tech Wash as it lifts out dirt but also revives the breathability of the material. It is still quite big when folded in its back pocket, so maybe look at the Apple jacket or the Caper Storm equivalent of it's just to be kept in the pack for emergencies. If you need more waterproofing try the FA clear rain jacket, name escapes me but about R700 at sportsmans. Hope that helps !
