  1. That is some ermmm.... bold colouring ? Bit "bont" for my liking, nice wheels though
  2. On the torque subject - I recently got a RavX torque wrench to ensure I don't end up steering my kcnc handlebar or stem in the air Now if the part says "max 5nm" how tight does one go ? Also my formula R1 brakes spesify 9nm to attach the callipers to the frame (carbon) and I feel that going that tight will brake the mount clean off the frame! Have just tightened it by hand now, but its kinda useless having the wrench but not using it correctly... Then how about the big things like BB cups and cassette lockrings, people don't seem to use a torque wrench for those, especially as most have the integrated handle with the tool and not a bit that can go on a torque wrench. Oh and what tool do you guys use to put 32mm dust wiper seals back into the fork ? And the oil seals ? In the rockshox manual they have a 2 sided drift, can I buy or make such a thing ? hi-jack off
  3. Want to sell my Led Lenser H7 headlamp if anyone is interested @ R250, used it 3 times now but want to get the H14 as it is better from running with the top strap, the H7 fitted very well on my Bell Sweep.
  4. Yip should work but have not done it myself so maybe someone that has done it can comment ? ESI fits using an air compressor. I find lock-on grips way too hard. OURY grips are a bit thick for me but nice and soft. Also look at Ergon if you do looong rides
  5. try www.bikebay.co.za
  6. Singlespeed and then I might just open my wallet
  7. `maybe theres a good 2nd hand deal here on the hub ?
  8. Remove the valve core when inflating more air will go in faster that way. Covie- the racesport has a tubeless-ready bead, the Supersonic doesn't, so it's not the same. The Race-Sport should seat/inflate much easier
  9. I appologise for the spare carrying reluctantness of those of my ilk. I do however take enough spares with me - lube, tyre boot, tube, co2, plugs, multi-tool, quick link, tyre levers etc. Threw my tube to a guy in the short Lionman who was walking lastyear Paying it forward I say
  10. Alu Spez about R20k and then the Carbon Expert I saw R31k at FPC http://www.specialized-sa.co.za/contentbike.php?range=201&year=&bike=237 but there's always some haggeling so about R30 seems good to me. Merida only has an alu model 29er ht in your bracket about R15k with XT I think. Also a Silverback Segma with XT that got good reviews. Look at the Cannondale Flash Alu 29er 1 as well - R20 but I had a quote for R17800. Volcan also about 30k with the X9 spec as on their site. Looking at the Spez for the same money, it will have better resale value IMO if thats important to you. Maybe build a bike with a Rapide frame for R7,5k ? www.rapide.co.za Have a look at the reviews in the Bicycling from a month or so back.
  11. Dont like it, does help get people out of your way though
  12. shot lemme know if it works
  13. what sealant are you using ? try a thin one like stans or Cafe Latex and use a brush to paint it onthe the sidewalls and leave to seal, they are quite porous so that should help
  14. Best is a wider light on the bars and a spot light on the helmet, so you can see around you but also around a corner etc. I would go headlight 1st then bar light, would not ride without a headmounted light. Also safety wise if a car is coming from a side street you can "flash" them with the headlight so you know they see you
  15. Cool no problem had to do it the other day so learnt something myself. It really pays to be able to work on the bike yourself, get a book and some tools its worth it. Fork wise look at CRC, buycycle or CWC for good deals. I think a Recon Silver with Air should be your best bet. It's fully serviceable and allot lighter as it uses alu and not steel I think, also stiffer as its got 32mm stanchions and not 28mm like the dart.
  16. Not difficult - ensure the new fork has the star washer fitted in the steerer tube and that it has a crown race fitted on the bottom outside of the steerer tube. Check the length of the steere so its the same as your current forks, or youll need to adjust your setup if its not by adding spacers etc. If thasts done then its easy. Loosen your front brake disc mount, be sure to not pull the lever if its off or the pads will close up. Take out the front wheel. Loosen the stem bolts then loosen the headset top cap bolt on top, hold the fork as it will now pull out. Catch the spacers and stem/handlebar combo. Push the new fork through the headtube (check that bearings still stay in place in the headtube) put the spacers on the steerer and then the stem on top of that. Tighten the headset bolt slightly so the fork is now connected. fit disc calliper and wheel. align wheel and stem so its straight. Now tighten the headset a bit more, DONT OVER DO IT ! BE GENTLE ! Tighten the stem bolts (try use a torque wrench) now check that the bars turn smoothly and while pulling the front brake rock the bike back and forth and feel if theres play in the headset. If the turnning is stiff, undo stem bolts and loosen headset slightly, if there is play do the same but tighten slightly. do stem bolts back up and you should be good !
  17. Dassie I hope your fur has a water-repellant oily coating, otherwise it might be a touch chilly if you fall off the floating bridge
  18. search led lenser and magiclight, allot of info there. spend the R900 and get a magic light, I have a led lenser headlamp not bright enough, even when used with a 225 lumen light on the bars. Good lights otherwise and for running hte headlamp aint bad
  19. Was colder a while back in the previous cold front. Might sing a different tune tomorrow, will do a late am road ride, lekker long and slow. Tired from the studies, bed is calling ! Good luck with the race y'all !
  20. Cool beans, that makes it allot better that its transferrable and longer, well done !
  21. During riding no but afterwards yes. Best for me is while I run, no more DOMS !
  22. To me their biggest advantage is wearing them while I run, lot less muscle movement/impact.
  23. Strongs Spidey ! R.I.P rider Scary as I also ride in the area
  24. For me they do work. Very well at that, but get a reputable brand ie. not Falke socks or that Headstart stuff they sell at Sportsmans. Size them properly. When I have sore legs after a hard session the pressure releaves the sensation. Recovery is improved so the next day legs feel better and you can ride again. Went for a fast run the other day after not running for a while, would usually have sore legs about 2-3 days after, didn't have that when I wore compression during and after the run.
  25. Dunno bout the Recharge but the Falke socks I bought are rubbish ! Offer just about zero compression. Problem with socks is that foot sizing and calf sizing arent always in relation, so to fit your foot it may not fit as it should on the leg, thus I prefer sleeves and with them you can wear any socks you want or no socks - perfect for summer recovery or xterra where I just wore mine from the start and could walk around and just put on my shoes in transition so you dont need to faff with later putting socks on.
