  1. Gerald is this an official Hub comp or just by Hubbers for Hubbers?
  2. And a friend/family member just so happens to own a driving school/fleet management company/car dealership I would imagine?
  3. They seem to be busy with a pump track at Groenies opposite the bathrooms and next to the play area, looks like fun! Also new signage at the bike start and more jungle gyms for the kids as well as seating and a "coffee shop" at the kiosk with pancakes etc. Foot trails also have distance markers now, though I wish they would add a few more trails for hiking and running.
  4. Recently got glasses and quote for my Rudy's was around 5k. Considering it, but as a 1st time glasses wearer (can't see far well) how long would it generally be before I'd need to have new lenses made for the Rudy's? I'm considering disposable contact lenses for trail running, what do these go for?
  5. Ja nee that demo you gave me really hit that home. SB isn't really an option if you want a milk drink.
  6. Waiters must love you I have Rooibos tea or I say if it's sheet and you say it's good I'm sending it back. And I have, and received better coffee the 2nd time. Some places have a "barista" but sommer anyone makes the coffee most of the time and you get worse coffee then.
  7. Drinking french press coffee and I must say one does get spoiled with the coffee from an espresso machine
  8. Thanks V12 will check it out, maybe I need to take it in. Just a bit frustrating as I went all the way there to get the seal, had I known I would have taken the machine as well. Cadence no the light isn't on thanks.
  9. Thanks I've tried this and normal water, no cigar. Water is being taken from the tank to the boiler so that's not the issue. It's not getting it out from there with any pressure or flow as it should when I activate the pump. Unless I have to run out all the water from the boiler so it totally fills with new water, but don't see the water type having an effect on how it's pumped out?
  10. If you look closely you'll see there are slits on the outside sides of the gasket, which in theory allow you to get a pick in there to pry out the gasket. Other option is an awl that you push into the gasket and take it out. What I've done is use a bread knife and pry the seal out on the inside, working around like using a tyre lever to get a tyre off till there's enough seal exposed to lift it off. You don't push the knife against the group though. In my experience you basically only take it out to replace it as you will most like damage the gasket in the process. My gasket was brittle and rock hard, so chances are yours is the same. Got a new one for R150 from Tazzadoro.
  11. I would love a proper hill to run for hill reps, might just be the ticket!
  12. So I finally replaced my grouphead gasket on the Oscar, but now it seems it doesn't pump water properly, almost just trickles out (without any coffee just empty PF or no PF at all). I did fill it with water via big plumbed in filter system so maybe it's an issue with the water not being recognised? Any idea what gives? Was working fine before that though I just ran some water through every now and then, was just using the steam arm because of the gasket leak.
  13. I've Tweeted Ishan a few times before and he's quick to respond, so give it a bash. I find the consistency at Woolies great across such a large chain, but the man maketh the coffee and some are better than others. Some of you will remember me posting a pic of the frothy mess I got from their Northgate branch the one day. Thus as 101SC says get to know your local barista and have them make your cup or give it a skip if they aren't there. At my local Woolies cafe there's a lady barista that's great, but the rest of the staff have been taught to make coffee and if she's off and they do it, it's just not the same. Went to Colcacchio's for mothers'day, got scaldingly hot cuppas. Bitter with dish foam froth. Complained and they made new ones with nice art on, good foam etc. Still a darker roast, but drinkable. So also let them know. They can't fix it otherwise.
  14. R700 at the Fountains entrance before 1 July. Valid till 1 july 2015
  15. Pieter - I've done it twice and with the move back to Van Gaalen's I can recommend it to anyone. However having done the route and it's only about 500m odd of climbing it doesn't help my prep enough to fork out the cash for the race, can rather go run there and do repeats of pofadder or such crazyness Pointer - PM me after Sani so we can do a bit of training together. Raab - we must go for a trot as well, always looking for running buddies. Robo - Road shoes are fine for a start till you know you like it. Untill you do the long and technical stuff you can get away with road shoes unless it's really wet out. Might try do Valley of a 1000 hills in July and Platinum run on the 25th this month, but it's on my bday so dunno. Def in for Crazy Store Magalies. The Diamond Dash used to be the best 20k in GP, but the new venue is no where near as mountainous or technical so dissappointed with the last race, hope they change the route. Anyone have an idea if the long routes at SBR are still open? Used to be huts and like 65k of trail according to the old maps. Shoe wise I like those NB1010v2's but the banana shape toe box doesn't work for me. Been rocking the new Nike Wildhorse which I love. 4mm drop with some cush. Just wears a bit fast. Those Adidas posted earlier, were they the Kanadia XC3? Groenies rates are going up 1 July, so I'm aiming to get a year ticket before then. Also looking for 2x 3 hour runs this weekend so shout if anyone is keen.
  16. Got some Seal Skins for running, still need to try them out but GP isn't a winter rain fall area so doubt I will get a chance soon.
  17. Bit of a rant - I'm keen on the longer runs as there's nothing decent in Gauteng on the shorter side, but then again you realise this means going all over SA, mainly to the Cape, as GP has about buggerall races I can use to train for the Otter sans the Crazy Store 35k. Don't see the point of R150 a pop for 10k at a venue I can run when I want for R30 or such. Irks me a bit, but I guess there are loads of people that do it casually or are new to trail that enjoy it or don't know better.
  18. Ladies have a narrower and shallower heel generally, and shoes will be narrower (B width vs. D for men) I believe the Asics Noosa tri range may have drainage holes as well, so have a look. Cutting out the front part of your shoes or even taking shoes along that are about 2 sizes larger than your normal size is pretty standard for trail ultras to remedy foot swelling or blisters. Crazy bunch
  19. I'm considering the run, how is it in terms of amount of technical trail and singletrack and ascent? The more of that the better for me.
  20. Much easier to do it while trail running http://www.mh.co.za/how-to/aj-calitz-sets-guinness-world-record/
  21. Thanks for the heads up, have ridden here before in a group but wouldn't again. Glad you are OK!
  22. He didn't give more details. He managed to kick the guy and get away when the guy drew a knife. 5 guys. He rode past 2 and sped up was then grabbed. But seemed like he knew something was up. One needs to trust you gut in these situations and turn around and GTFO!
