  1. I have bought a R2k pair of shoes in store before and paid half with miles half by card. Received R500 cash on my disco card the next month.
  2. 1. You didn't have to do the fitness test x3 to be able to activate the device booster. You would have just earned R400 back in the next billing cycle instead of R1000. 2. Pay with your miles first and then pay the ballance with your Disco card. This won't affect your 25% cash back at all. You'll obviously only earn miles bases on the balance that you pay with your card. 3. If another family member wants to buy a device and boost it also, wait until the following month to be be able to get 25% back on the next purchase.
  3. I'm there like a bear, with my panga, spade and cooler box full or beers in hand.
  4. I'm not saying we should build a track so gnarly that you must have a DH bike to be able to ride it. A light trail bike gets the job done on Conties Mainline. What I am saying is, build something like the top half of Iron Monkey. 10% of the clubs' membership are able to ride something like that. Another 20% of the existing membership would have an option to "skill up" when they're ready. And people who aren't members because they're bored of the 1000 berms, might actually consider joining. It doesn't have to cost a ton. You pick a line with some cool features, where the soil is good and you know the drainage can be managed in the future. Clear a few trees if they're in the way and get the trail crossings/dropoffs sorted. The rest you leave raw and let it get ridden in.
  5. Conties black is down a gulley. Where else is the water supposed to go? Up top before the gulley, the track is reasonably narrow. A steep trail doesn't have to cause erosion, if it's done sustainably. Corners/kinks/bench cuts etc properly planned to acheive adequate drainage.
  6. How sick would it be if Bloemendaaler had some steeper lines, heading a bit more directly down the hill? Or even down the steeper side of Dorsberg at Meerendal.
  7. Still pretty treacherous, especially if it's a bit damp out. And you need a shoe that has some flex, or it feels like you're standing on an M520/540.
  8. And hence that look of fear in your face, haha. I know because I have 530's too.
  9. If they're 'wire bead', don't try convert them to tubeless. If not and it actually says TR on the tyre, the good news is that you now have 3 rear tyres. The rear tyres wear out 3 times faster and take all the abuse.
  10. I'm also still running the XR4 29x2.4" that came on my bike. 2000km later and 5 big dings in the rear rim, and the tyre is still holding air.
  11. You can always tell your bike to 'look away' for the photo, haha
  12. Here's a good quality copy of the Tygerberg map: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qSAOFNWd60tmnzMR9JDdIQgd9u-DdwGu/view?usp=sharing
  13. Boring.
  14. Run the 27plus in the rear. Get a 29" wheel for the front and put a 2.5" DHF on the front. Reduce fork travel by about 20mm. Thank me later, haha.
  15. Check out Trail Forks website or app. The TB trails aren't up to date but it will help for starters. The trails are all pretty well marked though, and the TB club website does have a list of accurate distances of each trail if you want to plan a ride. I can share my Strava rides with you as I ride each spot. Below is what I have ridden so far. https://strava.app.link/ziodpBa6mS https://strava.app.link/KMFEmRo6mS https://strava.app.link/KDKYaqz6mS https://strava.app.link/SSECweZaxS
  16. Guys, it's really quite simple: We all refuse to sign up for 2019 'on principle'. Not because we can't afford the extra couple hundred, but just to prove a point and make sure TBMTBC realises that they shouldn't be so ambitious with whatever they need the extra cash for. The fees may have increased by 18%, it when they lose 36% of their expected growth then they will realise they have made a mistake. The whole reason the club is so huge is because it has always been the best value for money. If they realise that they can impose whatever increase they like and people keep signing up then guess what, next year the fee is going to be R1100, and the following year R1500. Let's just think of 2019 as the year of new experiences. More Jonkers, more Tokai, more Table Mountain. Sure, taking the travel into account it's going to cost more than R780, but it will be fun and worth it in the long run. Or, pick up a spade. Its pretty much free. Do you even know how to construct these awesome trails that you ride? No dig, no ride. There is free land out there and you get to sculpt your future (pun intended).
  17. I moved from KZN to WC at the beginning of the year, right next door to Majik Forest. I knew about the TB membership but couldn't justify the cost, so I just rode Majik pretty much every weekend. Looking down on the jumps at Bloemendal from the other side of the fence and got a bit envious inside. So I decided I would buy the half year membership in July, assuming it would be less than half price... July came around and it was over R400. Stuff that, I'll have to wait until January. And now almost R800. Nah. I'm done. It's time to get a crew together and build some proper tables and gaps on the top steeps of Majik.
  18. No, but these are 'proper' MTB tyres.
  19. Yass, the flies have been annoying. Especially when it's 30° out, you're climbing Spyker at Hoogekraal and two different species of fly insist on landing on your face and mouth. Flies have even been on my case at Majik Forest. Need to start riding earlier in the morning.
  20. Meanwhile Kauai employees around the country are standing around, looking bored.
  21. 400 points and two diamonds for me. My wife and I have both been saving up for Cape Union Mart vouchers.
  22. There is something strange happening with the driving rewards. It says I acheived my goal at the beginning of last week, but says 'not acheived' for the whole week. But somehow I still got the play/reward this morning.
  23. Thanks man [emoji106]
