  1. Glad you guys all enjoyed it. Everyone's stoke was well worth all of the effort. Moving 5 to 3 would have meant 8km of extra transfer distance and logistical issues with the limited number of timers/the Lite category needing to include stage 3. Just get fitter for the next one haha
  2. Final Results Thank you to all of the riders who took part. The 'not-a-race' obviously wouldn't have happened without any riders Witfontein Funduro 2020 - Results.pdf
  3. *withdrawn. Thank you Nick for fixing.
  4. Thank you for coming today guys. It was an awesome day. We're still trying to make sense of all the timing data. For now, feel free to check your Strava positions on the Stage sements below: https://www.strava.com/segments/25711539?filter=overall https://www.strava.com/segments/25711565?filter=overall https://www.strava.com/segments/25711679?filter=overall https://www.strava.com/segments/25712288?filter=overall https://www.strava.com/segments/25734037?filter=overall
  5. Don't forget to sign up ahead of time, so save time on the day: https://forms.gle/zDU4dcde2WRXMpKQ7 Keep the Trailforks route handy to find your way to the start of each stage: https://www.trailforks.com/route/witfontein-funduro-2020/
  6. The start of stages 2, 4 & 5 are pretty exposed. I would pack at least a shell. You probably won't be cold on the transfers, it's just waiting to drop in that might get chilly. No stalls at the start, the Ground Zero shop might have something. I'll DM you the owners number. On a positive note, the Hillbillies MTB Club and my wife have sponsored a small water table. It will be at the start of Stage 3, so you will pass it again on your way to stage 4 & 5. The snacks & drink are limited though, so don't rely solely on that.
  7. Bra, I also gave up. This is probably the wrong thread for this but anyway...I had such a sick team selected, based on value for money from the previous seasons results. Then when round 1 eventually came, 4 of my 6 riders weren't attending and I didn't have time to do more research so I just winged it. I didn't even bother to swap any out for round 2 and probably won't for the Finale either. I'm too busy with organising for the Witfontein Funduro.
  8. I just checked. They don't have a liquor license
  9. Thank you for the kind words Bos The start & finish is at Ground Zero Bike Park, which has a coffee shop and awesome pump track for kids. https://goo.gl/maps/SKHjkyo5uFqBUxNb6
  10. Thanks Nick. I'll certainly do that after the event.

  15. The first three stages are all so short, if you're going to blow it'll probably be on the transfers
  16. Stage 1 Course Preview: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CFHDpAhHBnT/ The full route will be published on Trailforks on Friday. Don't forget to register ahead of time: https://forms.gle/zDU4dcde2WRXMpKQ7
  17. So there used to be a huge tree stump that I cut out as close to ground level as I could, then build a drainage line just before it. The further you send it, the flatter the landing gets. Guaranteed to bottom your fork out. You're not going to clear the stump, so rather slow down nicely for the drop.
  18. This A-line is a shortcut of a section of another trail. So the mainline is the B-line
  19. Another little sneak-peak. Follow the Instagram link below for the video. This will be the A-line on one of the stages, just make sure you don't hit it too fast. https://www.instagram.com/p/CE8v3sUnClJ/ Follow me on Instagram for some course preview POV's coming next week.
  20. Here's a local kid (Sean van Niekerk) showing how the A-line is done. The B-line is on riders left for both sections. Quarry Jumps Supertubes
  21. If only the forest still looked like this. It looks like the aftermath of a war zone at the moment. All the trees that burnt a couple years ago have since rotten, and the strong winds that rolled through several weeks ago just snapped most of the trees in half or completely uprooted them. The trails are riding really nicely though. The Hillbillies MTB Club and trail running groups have been working really hard to open everything up.
  22. Jeepers, talk about jumping straight into the deep end.
  23. Was literally about to say the same thing.
  24. I'm so stoked to see so many guys from out of town signing up. I'll definitely have to do some route marking to make sure you guys don't take a wrong turn mid-stage. 1300m of climbing. The route is plotted on Trailforks, but not published. The Hillbillies employees still have a few trails to cut open, after the heavy winds. I'll drop the route here mid-September.
  25. https://www.georgeresort.co.za/ is probably the closest. Don't know how nice it is though. Next closest is probably Vic Bay.
