In my humble opinion she is free to make a statement by speaking Afrikaans,thereby telling the world "ek is Afrikaans en trots daarop!" But please don't then say something like " Ja,die bunch het nogal stadig gery maar to so-en-so jump toe wil niemand chase nie en ons watch toe maar net mekaar". You lose out in a big way then.......

Is that the same girl who came second in 94.7? Also only spoke Afrikaans in interview after 94.7 but my gripe is it was interspersed with English!Words like attack,bunch,jump etc formed part of her vocabulary.She must decide that if she wants to make a statement by speaking Afrikaans only at least do it in style!! But ultimately agree,she could have made an effort being interviewed at that level.

Why place the barriers in the road at all and not off the road surface?The barriers are there to keep the crouds (haha) out. The cones are not necessary and only a hindrance/danger.

I would'nt propagate complete closure for your weekly funrides but surely something needs to be done to slow down oncoming traffic? Signage say every 5k's indicating that a cycling event is in progress and to please slow down or even placing marshalls on "opposite "side waving red flags? Many races are held on non-shoulder routes which makes the potential conflict with oncoming traffic even bigger.

stop oncoming traffic from speeding past a bunch? I have never worried too much with traffic passing from behind but the speed at which oncoming traffic passes funride bunches is downright SCARY. If there is a fall in the middle of a bunch of say 40 riders you automatically have riders falling/scattering in all directions.With oncoming trucks and cars doing in excess of 80k/h we are just waiting for a major accident to happen.. Bunches of 15 or so are usually ok as falls do not occur often but as soon as it exeeds say 30 the potential for major damage is huge.. Any thoughts/proposals on this issue??Maybe a leading car for each of the bunches?Lights on straddling the white line?

Has DG's contract been extended or is he on a 2 year contract anyway??
