  1. Why you doing that, single speed conversion?
  2. I would be interested to know how they (cen guys) came up with that. I'm a regular visitor to a framebuilding forum that is 99,9% steel enthusiasts and nothing's been mentioned there? The suppliers of tubing like 'ceeway' also haven't changed their offerings either, maybe hot air about nothing? The article give any references?
  3. I'm not a lawyer but my gf is and although not her province she reckons if visa runs out then your wife has to leave the country since the strike has nothing to do with the visa itself or the slowness of staff, and either wait for the application to be successful or re-apply from start. She reckons speak to a lawyer who is experienced in visa's and such (try phoning passport center or similar). good luck
  4. Only solution I can think of is to get a lawyer to contact the department concerned, maybe start some sort of court application to get them to move their arse. It's crappy though, good luck to the both of you!

    bike setup

    I followed this guy's advice and I haven't looked back... http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/fitting.htm
  6. Cyclelab has a right to charge what they want, they're in business to make money, not help you out or do you a favour. And of course it's your right not too make use of their service or products. Learn to service your own bike, read the instruction manuals, research the internet, shop around.. this is what the rest of the world does. Or suck it up and hand over the cash. Personally I only go into cyclelab to chat to the hot girl on the off chance she'll say 'yes', certainly not too buy from them, especially since the whole competition debacle (they cheated and lied to us people! what the hell are you still doing buying from them!). S
  7. please!!! fine, the next time an Australian wing stumbles while a yard or two away from scoring the winning try against SA we should just halt the game and help him back up onto his feet and give him a second chance... this is a race people, not a fun run! I'm pretty damn sure Burry didn't think twice when he passed Absalon crawling about in the mud!
  8. humbug! Evans could've taken 2nd there, bet he feels an arse now regardless of what his blog says, how many points did he just throw away considering Burry probably wont be around much for the rest of the year. If I was riding at their level I would've totally ignored Burry, maybe just slowed down a bit to cackle at him and then ridden on to claim 2nd then waited around for Burry to come in and pulled faces at him. I'm also curious as to what gearing him and Burry were riding with if Knox had an extra 2 to use?
  9. What about Silverback? They offer really good value for money. I personally would advise to get the bike with the best specs, the frame is pretty cheap to swap out later but the shocks/grousets/ect gets really expensive.
  10. Giant is right, the price displayed is an offer towards negotiation (since people are human and errors can be made). This is not condoning bad service though, they should have apologised and explained it was an error or at the very least offered a discount or something.
  11. Really sorry to hear that this is happened, but you need to get to a hospital. And please report this to Hillcrest SAP, the guys there are really good (I used to work there) and will do their level best. By reporting you may just help prevent another attack on someone else! If you don't come right at the police station just pm me. Dude don't ride out there by yourself ever again, way more happens there than the general public is aware of. If you wanting some partners then head on over to www.mtbiker.co.za where there are a number of Durban riders registered. @Dirtbreath Shongweni is just outside Durban off the N3.
  12. ... and so it starts again...
  13. How has this thread not been deleted by a mod yet?
  14. I cannot understand how this issue has become so heated? To the cyclists: when traveling through the area, please ride in single file, obey road rules, put a smile on your face and wave. Understand that it is frustrating to be behind some cyclists that are riding abreast and making it difficult to pass ect... Not everyones a cyclist and we all need to respect that. Contact the local councillor and push for cycling lanes. To the residents: cyclists have a right to be on the roads, is it really that difficult to be on the look out for them? Is it really that hard to take care when passing them? It may not bring money in to the area in a direct way, but I'm pretty sure it helps indirectly. And why the aggravation, surely life is too short? Rather contact you local police station and ask them to help if the problem is so out of hand. Contact your local councilor and push for cycling lanes. What we don't need is this name-calling and insulting that's happening, it's certainly not why I come to the hub. It's not that hard to make this work chaps, you just got to want to! Bell-boy, insults aren't going to help, you're way out of line and Mr.Ples you certainly not helping. And cradleresident, do you speak for all residents... I think surely not, we need solutions here, not threats. EigerSA2010-01-18 03:59:41
  15. This is why we need an active mod here... this thread needs to come to an end and a member or two rebuked. Guys give it up now.
  16. Tempting. Yip Could do some damage with that. I could certainly put that to good use... of course you'd have to pry it from my dead fingers to get it back!
  17. I'm not going to even begin to describe the amount of fun I've had reporting the thefts to our wide awake police force, instead I'm going to now create one of these... http://mountcope.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/nuclear_blast.jpg
  18. Are you kidding me!? Have you not read through some of the interesting arguments that have developed on the hub, generally by protagonists so much older than you! Not about age but maturity. That and someone who is on the hub a lot. O would also vote slowbee... wheres the poll?
  19. Today I needed to get some work done at home so I wheeled my two bikes out the garage and put them alongside the garage. Between lunchtime and now they were somehow nicked, with 3 people working not 5 meters away! I hate hate hate the bastards who did this! There's a water tower not far away, all I need now is a sniper rifle and enough ammo to see me through a day or so... any offers?
  20. I think this has come up before but a disclaimer that state no liability only works if there's no negligence on the airports side. Although it might be a bit of a headache to fight it you will get paid out in the end. First thing is to get your lbs to give you a written quote for repairs. Or claim from insurance... on or the other. Either which way good luck!
  21. You got too put up a picture of the handlebar! Glad you not too badly injured!
  22. Bastards. Hope you come right in the end.
  23. Please tell me you complained like hell when you received it! Maybe you could claim any repairs from the airline?EigerSA2010-01-10 04:46:34
  24. Maybe just take it to a bike shop and have them look? Personally I would be hesitant since it's aluminium, my understanding is that it can 'crumple' when the dings are big enough or in the right place. Hope it's not too bad!
