  1. That's crap! Surely they would have to inform you of their rates beforehand? I would still speak to him. A friend of mine had a knee op and she phoned to ask for a discount and accounts department dropped the price by like 75%. Either which way, lpeens that does add insult to injury. Find out if he rides and push him off his bike
  2. That's ridiculous! I wonder if that's even allowed? Phone him and confront him!
  3. I got a few ideas, but will have to scan them in at work then post them tomorrow night. When you looking at finalising?
  4. Took me a while but I tracked it down... turns out it was a permit thing. They were collecting rainwater and using that but the local council had issues because of health and safety permits... even though the rain water turned out to be cleaner than the drinking water lol! Good luck with this.
  5. Okay, so Mongoose not it then... no problem. Soft-tail will make then ride a lot more comfy, I've got a hard-tail which I'm sticking to out of pure doggedness, but I do wish I got the soft-tail sometimes. The Anthem is really a nice bike.
  6. Aahhh... the age-old question that has started many a war, st vs. ht! Where in KZN are you? And how much do you know about mtb'ing? Have you ridden soft-tails and hard-tails? If you going to just be a weekend warrior then I'd buy the best hard-tail I could get for my money. I'm a fan of Silverback's myself, good value for money. Another brand I like is Mongoose. Spend some time visiting cycle shops and have a chat to the sales girls and guys, then make a discision (don't just go to one now, go to like three or four!). Good luck, oh and welcome to the HUB.
  7. Nicely done site, uncluttered and fast loading which is good. Slightly off-topic, but wasn't the micro-brewery closed down because it was using grey water and recently as well? You might want to check that out just in case.
  8. After personally trying a large number of supplements and diets, I believe there is only one method to loosing weight and that is monitoring calories. I signed up with Livestrong and joined the "weight-loss dare" and so far I've lost more than in any diet ever before. It's a simple case of monitoring calories and eating/exercising accordingly. And just to dispel a myth... eating in the mornings before a meal will not help you loose weight, your body just doesn't work that way. Just eat more fruit and veg, cut down on fizzy drinks, drink more water, eat smaller portions but eat more regularly and just generally be more aware. EigerSA2009-11-30 12:57:04
  9. Actually I'm wanting to do this for my commute bike. It is mostly a flat ride, with just two long but not too steep hills. I want to go singlespeed but figured I'd start slow by just dropping two or three gears. Thanks for everyone's advice, think for now I'll just wait till my other bikes built up then go to ss.
  10. Go for the Silverback Oakland, excellent entry level bike... I still ride mine regularly.
  11. Well if it's in great shape, then what's the problem? What bike is it?
  12. No not McClean... must have been Warr. I was looking for a singlespeed kit for my Silverback and he called to say they had a kit coming in for a customer and when it arrived he'd call me to let me look at it. Then he just explained what the kit consisted of and gave me some advice on how he'd go about it. I liked the store... my only complaint was it seemed so sterile. I like going to "Bring It On Cycles" in Kloof, it feels more relaxed. But I have high hope for Cycle Lab Hillcrest, I will definitly go back... Tania is cute as hell!!
  13. In the Pick 'n Pay center, where the golf place used to be (and then I think it was a rug place or something). It's a nicely laid out showroom, not too much accessories stock, but some really nice bikes.
  14. Although I'm not a fan of Cycle Lab in general, I just popped into the new store in Hillcrest about an hour ago to see if I could pick their brains about some technical issues I was having. Met Tania Raats there who let me look at some bikes in the workshop to try and help. Couldn't really find what I was looking for so she said she'd get someone to call me. Ten minutes later Andrew was on the phone helping out... what fantastic service! Big thank you to them
  15. I considered singlespeed, but I don't want to loose the luxury of having choice. So I was considering loosing the small blade in the front, and say 3 or 4 gears at the back...
  16. Hi guys. I've noticed that after 9 months of mtb'ing, I rarely use the small ring in front, I spend most of my time on the middle ring and large ring. Also seem to use the middle gears on the back more than granny gear and diabolical gear (sorry, not sure what the little one is called). What I was thinking about hacking the gears a bit... so I want to take out the gears at the back that I don't use as well as take off the small ring in the front. Can this be done? And if it can be, any advice?
  17. This thread brought back memories of Durbs way back when you could buy a frozen chocolate covered banana on the beachfront. I'm gonna make some tonight
  18. you grew up on scope' date=' didn't you? [/quote'] heh-heh... I'm totally averse to stars in any shape or form
  19. I want to know if we can take stars away!
  20. Hey Summit, have you ridden her yet? How's she feel compared to alu or carbon?
  21. Awesome!
  22. Cant decide If I want blue or white? Im just finishing these cables as the shifters came with them. Im feeling blue.. I just think the white cables would add balance.
  23. She is beautiful bos... nicely done! What about white cables?
