  1. Hi all. Has anyone here run in the hoka carbon x ? I had the hoka clifton 4 and loved them, am considering the carbon X. I am an average middle of the pack runner and i am afraid they might be overkill for a old ballie like me. Any comments will be welcomed.
  2. I did the FNB city surfing 10k in Durban yesterday, what a phenomenal event. with over 10 000 runners the organization was incredible and on point. I started in B batch and the batches went up to E . Now comes the story.... When we were about 1km into the run, latecomers from the lower batches who were still walking to the start were just entering the race from the sidewalk. I commented to one of the runners with me that it is unfair, his response was , check the results tomorrow and see how many show as `DID NOT START`, lo and behold there are about 10 or more pages of them.
  3. The brooks glycerine is a very comfortable and capable shoe. They are also sold at sportsmans warehouse.
  4. Hi there. What do I look for on strava if I want to join the bikehub strava runners challenge
  5. definitely agree on the vest option..
  6. All the best to all you crazies doing comrades on Sunday. Weather looks good, so get out there and give it horns.
  7. I only started distance running 3 years ago and I am now 50 years young. I only wish I had started earlier. In my youth I was a junior springbok sprinter 100m and 200m as well as world beach sprint champion, but never ventured past 400m in distance Upon finishing school and studying most forms of sport took a back seat, albeit a bit of cycling. My mind says I can but my body hates me after a long run.
  8. Try Durban runner.....Speak to Justin Hand....031-312 6486
  9. They are incredibly light. I use them for the time trials and up to 10km runs.
  10. Now the motorists will see me a mile away.....
  11. On our running vests we have our annual licenses sew onto them. I have left the top of my license open so when i am finished with a water sachet or GU i put the empty packet in there and discard it when i get to the next bin.
  12. I did the Deloiite 21km and the heat was brutal. One of the many reasons for the marathon runners running out of water was that by the time they came past the half marathon start point, the half marathon runners had used up 80% of the water sachets, which left very little for the middle and back markers of the marathon.. I saw some half marathon runners taking handfuls of sachets to drink as well as pour over themselves. Great event nevertheless.
  13. I have sold many items on the hub as well as on other platforms. I have advertised them with realistic prices and never struggled to sell them. Most of the time the sellers are either greedy or misinformed hence they battle to sell their items.
  14. Hence my name.............Soslow..........I am a plodder at best.
  15. I have the ghost 11 and they are truly amazing.
  16. The cycling feature works just as well as the running . It also links seamlessly to strava.
  17. Just throwing a spanner in the works here. I see sportsmans have the garmin forerunner 735xt on special at R 4 999.00 I had one and it is a awesome piece of tech. What i enjoy about garmin is their ease of use as well as the garmin connect app. I would change the watch face almost daily so as not to get bored with it. Battery life is also very good. Did an ironman 70.3 and still had plenty of battery life left ( for a slow coach like me ) The heart rate stats are also very accurate. Only reason i changed was because i wanted a watch with a built in music player so i got the garmin 645 music. I have had numerous watches over the years and somehow always return to my faithfull garmin.
  18. I have raced in a few triathlons where she has competed and she is super fast. Well done young lady.
