  1. Finally on Rai
  2. Thanks and keep up the commentary guys. I'm hanging on every word
  3. So all the people that bought the book are suckers? Hahahaha. Perhaps some of the people that bought it are just interested in the information. Not all of us are able to tell if the book is good or not intuitively. Some people have to actually read it to be able to make that determination.
  4. I must be just very lucky. Have always had very good service. A trip to my LBS is a treat for me. I make excuses to pop in. Love the place
  5. I took a bike when I went to Mauritius. It wasn't great riding but it was still the best part of the holiday for me. Not my type of holiday it turns out.
  6. I am eating about three pieces of fruit a day. Other than that raw veges and meat. Not one potato. No rice and no pasta. Weight is stable but not down. Riding appears to be unchanged. Dammed if I can feel any difference.
  7. Nothing wrong with changing your mind if you figure you made a mistake. Like all the people that voted for a certain political party. Be nice if they admitted they made a mistake and changed their minds. Or do you all think they should just keep on with the same old mistake? If you make a mistake man up and admit it. Don't stupidly carry on despite the evidence. Sorry I'm with the Prof on this one.
  8. When the coffee is shocking. Like when I'm driving long distance for a shoot and stop off some where odd and just have to have coffee before I kill myself. Then I frequently add a pinch of salt. It does help.
  9. Had a friend come around to help me with a dstv installation. Chap I cycle with. I decided to treat him and made what was perhaps my best ever cappachino. I handed him his waiting for a reaction. He took a sip and then he looked at me and said he was more a Ricoffy man!!!. Could have smacked him.
  10. Problem of course is a decent bean will need a different grind setting.
  11. We love our groups too much. It helps make enemies of people not in our group. It's not a motorist it's a person in a car. It's not a roadie. It's a person on a road bike. It's not a cyclists. It's a person on a bicycle. The moment we identify the person as a member of a group we are heading for generalizations if not outright prejudice. We do it by religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, class, nationality and everything else we can come up with. It's lazy thinking. It's not helpful. This shouldn't be a motorist versus cyclist thing. It's just people acting like idiots. Now the guys in the video miss the Argus, have to go to court, hire lawyers. What a waste of time and resources. Bet they wish they turned the other cheek to whatever it was that provoked them, right or wrong.
  12. Angry not so much. Amused yes. I don't know about taxis in Capetown but if you tackled a Joburg taxi like this van was tackled for sure there would be some Lycra clad corpses left on the road. That a a sure sign it wasn't a taxi incident.
  13. Huh? Was this a taxi incident? I thought it was a van picking up water sachets.
  14. Last time I saw colours and patterns like that it was as I rode past a golf course.
  15. CSA??? I thought the PPA won this turf war. What has the PPA to say on the matter?
  16. Kettle? Heard of them.
  17. Oh the hydration pack bladder! Jeez. Some mornings I am easily confused.
  18. A A reflector board has to be precisely placed to catch the existing light and reflect it back into the shadows. As the sun moves so will the reflector board have to be moved. All the cyclists would have to come through in roughly the same piece of road for the reflector to work. Then there is the problem of keeping the reflector stable and tied down in the wind. They are light and blow about easily. The smaller the board the more accurately it must be placed. A better solution would be a flash. Problem there is flash struggles to keep up with the camera firing rate and you burn through them shooting so rapidly. 7K flash last a few events at that rate. You could use some clever processing in Lightroom but then you would be stuck behind a computer for weeks. At R45 an image you get what you get.
  19. So you that Andrew! We shared a room I remember you were nervous about scorpions. That was a cool shoot in Mashatu with great riding and great people. Not sitting on the side of the road hoping to make a buck. Glad to see you still around mate.
  20. I'm a commercial photographer. I won't shoot for R45 a pic. So I don't. Wouldn't consider trying to make money from cyclists. Not worth the effort.
  21. I don't cycle the cradle but well done to the PPA for cleaning the place up. Money well spent and credit to them. I was not aware they did anything at all up here.
  22. I expressed an opinion you didn't agree with. I didn't insult you. You had a go at me implying the thin air up here was affecting my thinking. Then you say I'm moaning needlessly and I should go play bowles instead. Try to accept that not everyone will always agree with you. Try to understand that if someone doesn't agree with you that it is not an attack on your thinking. Just chill. It's not life or death. Save your energy for the important stuff. Good greif.
  23. Perhaps you did I don't know. I never studied either. What I did study was running my own business and spending money where I get a return. When I race up here in the thin air iI get commisaires and bike marshals. Regular mail keeping me informed about cycling events in SA and about our cyclists overseas also find there way into my inbox courtesy of the CSA. From the PPA I don't get anything. I'm not saying CSA is perfect far from it. By the way my favorite thing about the Argus was always how they never put safety pins in the race pack but allow one guy to sell them at a premium on the way out of the expo. Does that still happen? Lovely touch that.
  24. That's cool. The Krupps is not great I all honesty.
