  1. Excuse the hi jack, but had to share these pics Look 986 with a Lefty
  2. Plain white on black. Perhaps a dash of red or options to customise colours with matching nipples (and hubs?) for the blingers out there. Tyrone could probably help with the decals.
  3. We are up to 8 pages over here: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=85432&get=last#1178962
  4. What are bike shops like where you are now?
  5. Is your choice limited to Shimano? Without getting into a heated debate, have you considered the new Sram Force? Probably the best value around in terms of performance and weight. Approximate weights Dura Ace: 2050g for about R16 000.00 Sram Force: 2105g for about R8 000.00 Ultegra: 2300g for about R7 000.00
  6. I just looked at the Race Face range. Atlas is 785mm wide and the Next is 660mm
  7. Wider bar = more lever arm = bit more control (easier to steer) For example: Downhill bars are super wide compared to Cross Country race bars.
  8. Nice bikes!

  10. What about Shimano XT or XTR ? Industry 9 and Chris King are two other good options. Personally, I would go with the Hope's. But that's just 'cos they are bling. I currently have Shimano XT's and they are great. Good value for money, easily servicable and reliable.
  11. Tour de Eden was the last stage race we had. and that was cancelled at the last minute a few years ago because of lack of sponsorship. They needed a few hundred grand...
  12. I think that ACSA handles your baggage, not the actual airline. I remember having to sign a waiver of some sorts when I flew to Durban for Sani2C. It was along the lines of them (ACSA or Airline, I cant remember) not accepting any responsibility for damage to bike.
  13. That is a lot of cables!
  14. I am sure that a lot of people share the opinion that these bike thieving citizens should be shot on site 'cos SAPS isn't doing anything about them. Vigilante type behaviour might seem like a good solution, especially by people who have had some sort of weaponry stuck in thier face. It would be VERY interesting to see how involved the police would suddenly be if a potential thief was shot...
  15. I know that I am not the only one that find it interesting how many asthma sufferers there are in professional cycling around the world.

    Which tyres?

Cape Town winter tyres - Kenda Nevegals or a pair of Conti Mountain Kings. If you do any single track climbs, you want grip on your rear wheel as well. I just took my Race King off (kept the MK on the front). But then again there are a 1000 opnions spread over hundreds of threads. Do a search and soak up some of The Hub's finest.
  17. CRC ships to most of Europe as well. Not sure how Wiggle compares. Total cycling could be worth a look Comobike? Starbike? Depends on what you are looking for.
  18. From Tokai & Silvermine
  19. Spelled Varicose Vein. Its Variclose the the skin!
  20. Your budget/wallet may end up making some decisions for you... It's no use having XX and then fitting average wheels and anchor bar/stem/seatpost/saddle etc, so you wanna balance it out.
  21. Hectic! That could have caused some damage to that nice carbon frame...
  22. I am in the same boat. My Polar is mounted on my stem, so I need to find a better spot for it. The little plastic rectangle/rings make it possible to add a strap of some sorts to go around the frame somewhere. I was surprised to see how small the battery and light unit actually is.
  23. Well, come on. Do share!
