  1. I will get my ride in tomorrow, so wont join you on Thursday. Will be back next week though. Enjoy!
  2. Aluminium can handle fist size rocks being thrown up and hitting the down tube. I would be interested to see how carbon would handle such an impact. I imagine that carbon would feel a lot like my toes and shins feel...
  3. We are only getting let out @ 1:30. We are having a few people around for a braai and a 'soccer party' for the kids.
  4. Wow, I slept well last night. Got home to warm supper - nice wife! Cooker hot shower and then club duvet. It was a great ride - I really enjoyed it. I got a bit killed on the climbs though Max temp 12 and min 9 degrees. Average temp was 11.
  5. What about a Giant TCR Advanced? R15 or R16K
  6. I was just gonna ask if this is still on. I will be there @ 6:30 and have my own lights Looking forward to it!
  7. So many big egos and aggression. Why does everyone wanna ride everyone over? What about some common sense? Perhaps some consideration for other riders? And perhaps a bit of discretion? I thought mountain bikers were all like, chilled man.
  8. I was wondering the same thing and couldnt get much info off the web.
  9. I am keeping an eye on the weather and am keen to tag along this week.
  10. This has been crapping on for weeks on all the forums around the world and it has got me wondering. Perhaps someone could set me straight. If a small motor can put out 50 to 100 Watts and Fabian can easily ride at 350 Watts. Does the motor really help, or does all the motor's power just get over run?
  11. Its in the US and A. The post article comments get interesting (and most sound VERY familiar) http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2010-06-01/story/man-charged-stabbing-jacksonville-bike-rally A pickup driver charged with stabbing two bicyclists after he bumped a rider on a Jacksonville service road has over a dozen traffic violations dating back to 2002. Matt Roger Salmons, 25, of the 1800 block of Gabin Road, has been cited twice each with careless driving, running a stop sign and speeding among 14 driving violations in the past eight years in Jacksonville, according to Duval County court records. He had no violent charges or felonies. Monday he was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of simple battery following a confrontation with a group of bicyclists who were pulling in to the Kent Campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville. The riders were at the end of a 60-mile trip when one was brushed by Salmons, who was passing through the group in his truck, according to the Sheriff?s Office arrest report. Tempers flared and Salmons stopped and got out of his truck. During an argument, Salmons was punched and two riders were stabbed before Salmons left. One victim, 51-year-old John Wesley Faulk of Jacksonville, suffered one stab wound to his stomach and five on his back. He was in fair condition at Shands Jacksonville hospital Tuesday. The second victim, 48-year-old David C. Elcess of Jacksonville, was cut once on each arm. The two cyclists were among about 100 riders in an annual Memorial Day ride sponsored by the North Florida Bicycle Club, ride director John McDowell said. Police met with Salmons a short time later and were told he stopped to check on the welfare of the bicyclist who was hit and then began arguing with several people. He told police he retrieved a pocket knife and ?went to town,? the arrest report said. Police were told a knife was kept in the truck, but did not find one there. Salmons was injured when he was punched during the fight. On Tuesday no one was at a Westside residence listed for Salmons on his arrest report. Faulk and Elcess also were unavailable for comment. Salmons is being held in lieu of $205,000 bail in the Duval County jail.
  12. Why only Cancellara? Why not a whole team?
  13. Take the newer bike. 2008 is so last decade... I have an Anthem X1, so am biased.
  14. Early Prototype
  15. OK. I have the Park Tool chain link pliers. So I will see how that works.
  16. 9spd works well. The 10spd ones are not reusable (I think)
  17. How about a few stickies? Like CRC ordering and VAT and imports etc?
  18. Did my first night ride yesterday. Went up the switchbacks (walked a lot of it), up to the mast. Down (got an ice cream headache from the cold) and then back up along level 5 and down to Boulders and all the usual singletrack down again. Nightriding - because mountain biking isn't exciting enough, you must do it in the dark...
  19. He is also on The Hub from time to time. https://www.bikehub.co.za/member_profile.asp?PF=2432 PM him for an appointment. Or, Google his name, for contact details. cell and email. He is on Twitter as well.
  20. Ergofit report: R350.00 Ergofit report + bike fit: R500.00 Comprehensive setup: R750.00
  21. Dr Jeroen Swart @ Sports Science Insitute. I have wasted my time and money elsewhere, and found him to be very thorough and accurate. He takes your flexibility, riding style etc into account along with compensating for different leg lengths and wether you need wedges in your shoes or not. Plenty of experience in mountain biking (57th in this year's Epic) and stacks of podiums over the last 10 or 15 years. Do a search and see what other Hubbers think of him.
  22. I have a set of Brads Magiclights - Still havent used them. Where did you ride?
  23. This sounds ominous/interesting. Does anybody know what he means? Cycling in SA seems to have a number of unscrupulous operators. If u shake the tree hard enough..... Watch this space...... 12:35 AM May 21st
  24. With red hubs and nipples? Could look quite sexy in the flesh. Would you just scale it down for the smaller rims?
