Mmm' date=' you're right, and Clean Green also works well, just saw this stuff for sale through CRC and found the name quite funny..[/quote'] Is car shampoo cheap? Clean Green is a strong degreaser - I wouldn't lash it around my bike too liberally.
  3. So, what's the prize?
  4. What's not to like about this: $2450.00 for the frame ()
  5. I would say somewhere in the region of 7.3kg
  6. What tyres and tubes you putting on? Frame size? Stem length and bar width? Bottle cages. Its gonna be an awesome machine. If you dont post pics ASAP, you will be banned from the Hub. Its the only porn I can look at while @ work.
  7. Looks awesome. Can't wait to see the finished product.
  8. This isn't the first time that any SA athlete has had to pay thier own way to compete abroad. I have heard of cases where SA colours weren't awarded because the athlete couldn't make the trip. To answer your question. I think thier incentive scheme was kinda silly.

At the moment, Shimano is saying that they arent persuing a production electric mtb groupset as $900.00 for the rear mech is a bit heavy going for something that gets that much mud, water and general abuse. Of course, it sounds like its under consideration and when costs come down, why not?

  11. Have you tried the DT Swiss spoke calculator? You will need rim diameter/ERD as well as the hub Picth Circle Diameter, Flange distance. You must supply No. of spokes and build style (radial, 2 cross or 3 cross) http://www.dtswiss.com/SpokesCalc/Calculator.aspx
  12. Come on. Name and Shame. With photos, it's Show and Tell.
  13. It's the zap signs and swearing from the cyclists that turn an irritated motorist into a homicidal maniac with a cattle prod. I can't stand being shouted at by someone in the wrong.
  14. Kevin mentioned this on Twitter the other day. He seemed pretty excited. Shan Wilson and Andrew McClean seem to like thier Volcan's... Raleigh must be bummed as they lost the road team contract as well.
  15. Not too many options available. CWC may be your best bet. You will be lucky to find a wheel builder with all the spokes and nipples (2.0x16mm) in stock AND able to build the wheel for you tomorrrow.
  16. My expert opinion: Your bearings are poked. Sorry, can you cough again? Get it checked out ASAP before the whole hub is damaged beyond repair. I speak from experience.
  17. Post some bike porn when you have them.
  18. She isn't wearing a helmet in public, so he might not be too stressed. Although, her other helmet is showing...
  19. Contact Kiwi (Planet X) he has some good deals going at the moment for 50mm carbon clinchers. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=60639&KW=
  20. The one you measure yourself.
  21. Does anyone know when it will open?
  22. I have a Top Peak Alien of some sorts. Should cover a full trailside bike transplant...
  23. I emailed someone about it a while ago and was told the following: The rim I recommend for South African conditions is the ZTR355 Stans rim. It has a rounder profile than the Olympic rims and weighs around the 355gram mark. There is a rider limit on the ZTR Olympic and ZTR Race 7000 rims, but not really on the ZTR355 rims. The problem with putting weight limits on products is that you can get a 70kg rider that breaks rims becos he doesn?t ride smoothly and just thrashes the trails, or you can get a 110kg rider who rides smoothly, with finesse and is not hard on his equipment. The Arch is an aggressive XC rim that is 25% stiffer laterally than the ZTR355 and weighs about 425grams each. (Compared to 355grams for the ZTR355.) So you are getting a stiffer rim, but you are adding about 140grams to your wheel build
