  1. Any chance these crits are going to be open to non-school boys/girls one day?
  2. HI Hubbers, Finally managed to update the Jonkershoek map after the fires. You can download it here http://www.irideafrica.com/portfolio/jonkershoek-mtb-map-4/ (Please stay off fire hut trail 3 for now as it's not opened yet as far as I know-I just added it in as it will be open after a few rainfalls I'm sure)
  3. Who needs a bottle opener? There are a million more interesting ways to open beer!
  4. Had the pleasure of helping out with this production and hanging out with the crew. I must say, Greg is the ultimate SA ambassador and a true gentlemen whilst being one of the best riders on the planet. Some fun (and stressful) times were had getting these shots!
  5. That is how to get amped for riding! Never had a video that makes me want to go ride in the mud, slosh and snot like that!
  6. Yes there were a few more articles but I believe these are the best shoots according to the photographer (Ewald).
  7. I highly recommend going for a visit. Eckhardt is busy building new trails all the time but what is there now, is already a great day out on the bike!
  8. Beer4recovery, Harry bought his YT when he was in the UK. Very happy with it though! The Cape really is incredible with all the trails popping up but I'll also give credit to Ewald Sadie who's photos make our trails (and riding) look so great!
  9. Headshot, basically it started out as a 'mates race' then everyone got so excited by it that they invited their mates! Don't take it personally. We did not host it is an event anyway, there was a donation fee of R300 and ALL proceeds went towards the school farm. It was run as an invitational just to keep the field small so we could make sure everything ran smoothly without it costing an arm and a leg. Keep your ear to the ground and I'm sure you'll get to the next one.
  10. Oh and for those interested to see the results and separate stage times, you can check them here -> http://www.irideafrica.com/ezelenduro2015results/
  11. Great to hear Nico! A few guys have reported back with the same kind of thinking. Glad to inspire!
  12. Invite only format kept the field small and safe. Trails were superduper gnarly so we didn't want to have riders there with unknown skills. Sorry you were not invited but you can blame your friends for not doing so!
  13. Turn out the predictions were right after all Hoping as much rain fell in jhk as in Cape Town. Sure it will help bedding in the trails immensely as long as people don't ride for the next few days and let it bake hard for a few days.
  14. Never believe YR (or any other weather predictions) more than 3 days in advance. I have seen so many good plans scuppered in fear of rain and when the day comes, the weather is perfect.
  15. We are always look for freelance guides (especially in the Stellenbosch area). Requirements? Qualified guide & first aid certificate (preferably wilderness based) and PDP drivers license. On the riding front, you have to be elite level in terms of fitness and technical ability to keep up with the best customers and have the patience of a saint to ride with the slowest!
  16. Oh yes! A beautiful frame built in Cape Town and wheels 'handgemaak' in the Cape. An African bike that is world class!
  17. It really was a great event! Big up to the organisers (now please sort the timing out or get a new timer!) and Thomas for the sweet video and Ewald for the rad photo's- Well done to Stefan for the win and all the riders for surviving the course and having the coolest attitudes and vibe in the sport. Great to see lots of people on flat pedals and sporting the appropriate protection.
  18. Hi Hubbers, Like Brando said, there is a race there this weekend and it will include a lot of these trails. I'd highly recommend entering it if you are wanting to ride great trails and experience great hospitality! And as the articles says, they will be hosting events here in the future so keep an eye out for them. Another way to ride them is through our 'Wild weekends', where we focus on incredible rides, good food and self improvement through skills clinics. Our first one in Piketberg will only be in February 2016 due to the owners finishing off the campsite first. I don't think it's fair to the landowners and trail builders to suggest that they have to give the public access to trails-perhaps in a perfect world they would gladly do so. In the real world, they would have to deal with are rogue riders, self entitled people and riders that aren't self sufficient on the trail that create more of a headache than a R50 trail entry is worth. Just my 2 cents on the subject...
  19. Correct. Matthieu is french so runs his brakes right hand = back.
  20. Yeah, I am sure Robert has plans to make those worn out jumps better as soon as some more rain comes into play. Will ask him though and just mention that people are keen for them!
  21. No braking by Matthieu in this photo. Check his fingers-off the brake-just flat out speed!
  22. It is. Moments before scratching Ewalds lens. Which rock is the culprit?
