  1. It would be really cool if shoe shops held "demo days" like Giant, Specialized and co do..then we could at least try the shoes out . Running up and down a concrete floor at Poobie Naidoos is not really much of a test cos all new shoes feel good for couple of metres.
  2. Thank you..I must go and try them. Stability is also not an issue with me luckily.
  3. Im also needing new road shoes, my Nimbus have almost done 1000km and are only now feeling comfy but my big toes are popping out the top. I want to try the Hoka or the New Balance 880's, just not to keen on the Nimbus again, they just too much shoe if that makes any sense..Im worries that like the Nimbus, the Hoka will also have too much cushioning. Any suggestions?
  4. You still flipping smashed that race Barry - I wish my suffering times looked like that Ditto. Thats why I refuse to run with my husband..he does times like this and when I ask him if he saw this bird or that river etc..he says what river!!
  5. Thats an excellent time, well done! Barry, trail is the absolute best and no-one cares how fast or how slow, when, where and if you walk, thats why I LOVE it. Weve done some of the 2 day trails and nothing beats it! I always run with a phone to take photos!
  6. Is anyone running Glencairn this weekend? (asking in the hope of meeting some fellow hubbers )
  7. I have got to do Run the Berg. Andrew, Oxpecker is a must, its a package deal so you dont need to worry about anything and the peeps are fantastic. We going to give Glencairn a try next weekend and will let you know. I somehow dont think it will be in the same league as Oxpecker and Run the Berg.
  8. Can you send a pic of the label on the tongue to me and il check with my husband if the size is right? My number is 0832625568
  9. Stricker, running benefits cycling big time in my opinion. I can go without a pedal for weeks on end and get on the bike and still have fun for 25km - 30km..I would imagine if I wanted to do a long ride then Id have to put in some training.
  10. For those that did the Cape Town Marathon, is this a good one to do as a first marathon? Im keen to try do a full marathon and from friends feedback, this sounds like a good one. Im not good at doing a lap run so PMB42 is out, I wanted to try Mandela but have been told im nuts to do it as a first one.
  11. I believe that there is a collection at the CT Marathon Expo for old finishers medal that people no longer want, for the childrens hospital for kids that have come through chemo treatment etc..what a wonderful idea!
  12. Has anyone done the Cherry Mountain Race in Ficksburg? This year its the 18th November. There is a 23km and a 5km fun run. Is it worth doing??
  13. Lynotherapy is really good for ITB..I got it really bad that I couldnt even walk downhill..had to turn around and walk backwards very slowly. Found a brilliant physio that needled it twice and a Bio that did lynotherapy. He showed me some strengthening exercise and its been almost a year now and not one little tweak (touching wood). I also stopped training on the road and built my weeks up to 40 - 50km a week steadily.
  14. Praying that this tiny little fighter has stabilised.
  15. Thats ripe Stretchy coming from a guy who doesnt do trail runs...
  16. Found it on Facebook, photos look amazing! Now to work on husband..always wanted to go up that way.
  17. Yeah, weve entered for the longer one, "Woodpecker" . After years of doing Berg n Bush, its so cool running it now.
  18. Stretchy...thats a little unfair, they not all like that eg Oxpecker is good value, in May we paid R1800 each and got a good goodie bag, accommodation, Fri supper, Sat breakfast, lunch and supper, Sun breakfast and lunch and really good water tables. 2nd Oxpecker ive done and will keep doing for the "gees" and decent value. We giving Glencairn a try this October and slightly cheaper than Oxpecker at R1680 it includes all the same meals, accommodation and goody bag...water tables yet to be tested but il let you know. Maybe its only in KZN that the events are well priced cos we the poorest of the relations.
  19. Ok..I read the entry fee and thought that it was accommodation included...I see you have to book and pay seperately. That starts getting expensive! I think if you put your own trail event together, let me know and we'll join you . Why do organisors have to get greedy.
  20. a friend of mine has just done this and her photos look amazing....this is something id be really keen to do. http://trailrunning.co.za/event/rcs-sox-3-day-trail-run-2017/
  21. Inov8 clearance sale..some good prices. https://rebelstore.co.za/clearance-sale.html
  22. Does anyone use the Inov8 for road? They are brilliant trail shoes and im keen to try them but they seem to be more trail orientated.
  23. Ed-Z, if you like Funky then Funky Pants and Esjay are very good....Funky Tights however are horrendous!
