  1. We were waiting for our friends at top of Pollys, missed most of the Hubbers because I forgotten my numbers of Hubbers running at home so couldnt track them but was v happy to see Stretchy going well and most of my other mad friends. We were running up and down Pollys in the last 10 mins trying to get people to walk faster to avoid the cutoff time...was so sad when the gun went at the top of Polly's to see the disappointment in the runners and relief in others. Lots of tears shed with them but if they couldnt get to Pollys cutoff they wouldve made it to the finish. Well done to all of you for even getting onto the start line..you guys are all heroes (albeit mad in the head heroes) in my eyes!
  2. If they hand to me, il also run with one.
  3. We there around 2 tomorrow and will look out for both you "younger guys going grey"..im heading to the Inov8 stand for sure...
  4. SeaBee, I had same problem on Monday...downed Echinoforce forte 3x day, and disprin 3x day and it worked a treat. Im not an ultra runner or anything near to that but even for the half marathon a cold is not fun. My fun runs yesterday and this morning, got rid of the last of the sniffs.
  5. 2nd Half marathon, loved the first one, aiming for a 2:15, just love the vibe. My husband is doing his 7th Ultra, he usually does a 5 hour run but has some niggles this year so just doing what he can.
  6. @jackes...I wouldnt leave later than 4.30...rather be safer than sorry. You wont believe the crowds.
  7. I think he means be there an hour before..not leave your bnb an hour before cos 6km can take an hour!! For 3 years we have stayed in Sea Point and left at 4am and last year was the first year that we were held up badly by traffic. I suppose with this new parking system, all roads are now leading to the parking spots whereas before, people where just heading all over...dunno...I missed my batching for my first 21km and started at the very back of the next batch, not fun, so this year we are staying right at the start, and will walk over at about 5.30.
  8. we stayed in Sea Point and left at 4am and were still late last year! The traffic is horrendous.
  9. Well done to your wife Andrew ....im trying to work up the courage to go over the half marathon distance however the 56km OMTOM is a something ive been thinking of for my 50th year..gives me 2 years to prepare.
  10. My heart rate is always high running..i have given up trying to see if I can get it lower. Happy happy Stretchy..
  11. Relieved to hear the positive about Discovery Insure because ive just changed my car and my daughters car over to them because of that ad on tv.
  12. Anyone got any strengthening ideas to help get over hip flexor tendonitus.?
  13. Im with Team vitality, also tried to find the app but it seems it only applies to the main member of discovery...so I cant get the shoe booster at all and he has to pay because he is not with Team Vitality.
  14. Milking salve can be bought from TWK as well...cheapest form of pure lanolin. Also good for kids that get chapped lips. Horse arnica..good idea..will steal from my daughters horse hahahaha.
  15. aaarrgghh...im sooo upset..anyone got a quick fix for a groin strain?? Running the PMB half marathon in 10 days and was hoping for a good time to get a decent batching at OMTOM..
  16. Some clubs are very "clicky"..and really hard for a newcomer to running to get accepted. I left my club for that very reason. Would love to join the run/walk for life club in my area but decided to go the Vitality route for this year until my son is not reliant on me being at home at 5.30 to do homework and supper. On that note though..im still waiting for my license so maybe a virtual club not best option.
  17. Texa Allergy can be taken every day and is very effective Andrew. Not sure how you feel about natural remedies but you couldnt do any harm by taking Moringa. It certainly helps my recovery but then im not doing the distances you guys do, but I swear by it.
  18. I need a "warm up pill or shake"......any warm up quick hints or am I just getting old!
  19. Thanks Seabee...excellent advice...
  20. Ok ive joined..and just that has me super intimidated because my better running half and others in the club do in 1 week what takes me 17 days to do..but if I cant beat them..il join them and try keep them in sight in the distance.
  21. so does this now mean that your Strava group will be for us fun runners as well Stretchy??? lol@ Tubes...i might have to hold you to that...see you in April with a bit of luck.
  22. Will consider the Two Oceans Ultra for my 50th Stretchy...cos then I can claim insanity. Everyone greets everyone here because we all know each other, the joys of a small town. After my frame broke at Wines2Whales, my first thought was "at least I cant break my takkies"..!
  23. this is me...happy to do 21km. Do enjoy trail running lot more than road tho (maybe cos then I have an excuse to walk.."oh look at that view/bird/snake" without getting the WHHAAATT walking look that one gets on the road ..
  24. Im here and running but not comrades...do nervous to chirp cos my post count not high
  25. was just about to post the same link.. Running helps cycling, thats for sure but I dont think cycling helps running. My legs are so "heavy" going for a run after ive been for a cycle.
