  1. was it something like this ?
  2. was there a race debrief already? Curious how many riders started, and how many finished
  3. They actually sent out a communication about it beforehand. that they reusing last years ones with the added piece at the top. There view ot is environmentally more friendly to reuse that to get new ones made. actually agree with them
  4. ag no, this with the others are really putting a damper on an otherwise well organised race. My condolences and really hope the lessons learnt from this will protect our marshalls in future.
  5. Think that the new generation of riders that is coming through now might start to serious compete against the "older" guys, but it is probably all good for the sport. Does not change the fact that the 3 big names will be seriously diminish as they help build the sport in what it is today. And Nino remains a class act in my opinion.
  6. Twitter is mentioning a heartattack that was also reported. Due to the source, not sure if true or not Confirmed: Cape Town - The Cape Town Cycle Tour has confirmed that two people have died during the Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday. “The first was a trauma incident just before 9:00 this morning on the M3 southbound in which a group of 20 cyclists were involved in a pile up," the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust said in a statement. “In the second incident a male participant succumbed to a suspected heart attack at Smitswinkel Bay at approximately 10:22."
  7. I do feel a bit for the stalls that is a bit hidden away, or found "later" down the route, as they sometimes sell the same stuff but cheaper than the guys that got the prime spots at the start. But understand those prime spots were probably awarded due to long standing support from those companies
  8. Think next year the entries might just be sold out a bit quicker.. Was speaking to one of the exhibitor and they mentioned that people are generally much more positive, and when positive they buy more, especially if compared to the 94.7 race.
  9. One of the reasons to listen to their instructions and thank them if safe to do so. They giving up their day for our enjoyment.
  10. What the heck was going on in 4D? there were so many 4D riders and groups shooting past us. Really git a feeling that they were not seeded properly. So not sure if those are the upcountry guys or internationals.
  11. We rode in 3G today and was sad coming down from wynberg to see the medics at work, did not know at that stage how serious it was. But my wife did mention this is the reason she does not prefer riding in big groups.Makes you think what is more important the risk of injuries (or even death) vs the reward of a better finish time. Now not saying that people dont get injured in other ways. Just that it feels personally that the risk is higher in thr groups. on the other side of my comments. What a well organised race, serious FOMO for anyone not taking part I would say, the locals along the route really brought the spirit to the party and tried to thank as many as I could. For those guys and ladies on the hand cycles.. serious respect, as well as the riders with the kids in the trailers. Hope the cause got a whole lot of additional support through your efforts. Marshalls, local authorities, and organisers thank you for your efforts, just experience friendliness all round. To those that always complain there is not enough races in the south. ok you right it is an amazing place to have a race and really a shame that the roads don't lend themselves to a proper race as would think that roadclosures would be a requirement, talking about a road closure race just goes to another level. on the downside.. did I miss the bar one stop??? kept looking for it but might have blanked out somewhere.
  12. And Gaze beat Nino, first time in 5 years that none of the traditional 3 top guys did not win the race.. times are changing
  13. Mens race close to finish, but have to admit Nino seems to be struggling to drop the Gaze
  14. damn Sorry to hear
  15. Just saw that the Garmin file on the Cape Town Cycle Tour website, starts at the "old" spot Oh well
  16. Womans race done: TOP 3: 1. Annika Langvad2.Pauline Ferrand-Prévot3.Anne Tauber4. Grobbert What a finish for position 4 / 5 / 6
  17. Should be in the envelope inside your bag
  18. My experience was very enjoyable, I am one of those that are sold on the idea of printing there and then. You get confirmation that your chip is correctly linked, no going to the back looking for your packet that, much easier for multiple pickups as you don`t have to go to different counters (picked up 3 and was about the same time as 1 took me last year). But of course as long as the guys and girls are trained and the system works correctly. Overall realised again a certain store that will not be named really got the prime spot, but that is probably due to number of years having been involved with the tour..
  19. Don't think they pricing it for profit, but more to try and make people a bit more aware of not losing their chips (the same idea behind the plastic bag tariffs) But understand it was probably more tongue in cheek
  20. Have dealt with them printing on the spot twice already, and as long as the IT systems and printer keeps working you will be pleasantly surprised how well it works, as well as any queries can be dealt with there and then and you can get a newly printed pack. don't think it is as much from a cost saving as I would assume bulk printing would work out cheaper.
  21. What wind speed will be the level where it will make a material impact? and understand it might be different for each rider
  22. Did anyone get a formal reply on why the moved it all to one day? Was it just from a costs & organisational perspective, or cutting down on the pressure on the trails and landowners?
  23. And it is also from a safety perspective on having a way to identify the rider in the event of an emergency
  24. Depends which site you are checking, some others do not predict as positive weather. Maybe a good time to see which one we can rely on the best
  25. I honestly think the real challenge would be to shower within the 2-min city limit. Just joking, it was a enjoyable day of riding some great trails, learning about faith (when you on a single track and can see F0k0/), trying a new dish called dust, friendly fellow riders (with not to many wannabe racing snakes pushing guys off the track), etc. About the new race village afterwards, cant really comment as we left soon after finishing, I understand their point to move it there just not as inviting as the previous years location. Overall, glad I did the 60, and want to send a thank you out to all involved in thr organisation. Onwards to next weeks race. PS something nice actually doing a race on saturday instead of sundays
