  1. I know I know.. e-bikes will be allowed
  2. Clickbait is starting early this year for the CTCT
  3. This is for me the most realistic options, except for that you have to close strand street, which a lot of people use to get into town on the day. But it has a lot of possibilities with the castle, grand parade, etc.
  4. I see for the Paarl race they have indicated that they will be giving out Racetec MTB boards (no more old style orange racetec chips.
  5. I agree, would probably be back next year for the 60km again, every time doing the route a bit faster and a bit stronger after the winter (ok was not that much faster, helped someone out to fix there bike on the way). The other race that also touch the area that I have enjoyed a lot is the Spur Classic
  6. Can't comment on the 75km, the 65km did not feel like there was that much ST. But as others have mentioned the benefit of that was very little walking or especially there at the muratie climb.
  7. Had the same experience, don't think I had any point in the race where I was being held back by walkers... one of the benefits of being right at the back
  8. snap.. seems we got the same view & phrase
  9. My view, where you have some one skilled on a e-bike that will probably enjoy the race alot, and won't cause to much trouble for those around them (and in any case need a sense of humour for the abuse or chirps that they might be receiving), think it is more where you have someone that is a noob now on a bike which places them between other riders that are quiet a bit more skilled than them, putting pressure on them to either take chances or increase the frustration levels around them. But we can go back and forth we all just speculating how it will pan out.
  10. Is most of the rest of the route the same though?
  11. Can I get the popcorn already?
  12. Agree with them taking a different route, because else where do you place them in the starting line up. Would also assume their times do not get recorded for seeding purposes, as that would be a good way to get to the earlier bunches.
  13. More and more the e-bikes are coming into the races.
  14. Think it is going to be a real MTB ride, with a little bit of everything, river crossings, mud, climbs and fun descents. Doing the 60 for a second time, so looking forward to a better time
  15. they updated the closing date, which was indicated as 2017-05-28, but seems now have been corrected till August
  16. Last year early entries closed in August, so will probably be the same again
  17. Hoping that the entries are still open and just a mistake on their website. Also more wonderinge if the 70km is the 45km + Groenlandberg, or that you get to ride some nice routes on the 45 that is not on the 70km section
  18. Not sure who has signed up for the 2017 one, has any one seen an indication of the route profiles / maps for the 30 / 45 / 70km?
  19. It was a tough day, was probably right at the back, the first 40km went very well, but the second bit.. eish.. Loved the weather, very well organised (seems other had trouble with route marking, but I had no such problems). Did ride some long stretches on my own, but will be back next year for sure.
  20. doing the 75km.. just hit me... that is going to be a looong ride on the bike. especially with most of the bad climbing at the end. Think I need to start drinking anti cramp now already
  21. Think there are just 4 starting groups for the 75
  22. Just checked the weather on two sites, looks like it might be a bit nippy at the start and nice and cool for the rest. Another benefit of a bit of rain the day before is that it will help with hopefully keeping the dust down. So all and all I am looking forward to a good day on the bike
  23. Enjoy, had lots of fun on that route last year, so sure you will too
  24. Countdown has started for the race Looking forward after not being able to do the longer route last year (arrived there the morning with literally two left shoes) - lesson noted Did the shorter one with Pep stores shoes
  25. Is there a write up coming for the race?
