Mugg 'n Bean Stellenbosch was awash with riders yesterday. Typical groups entering Stellenbosch were 8-10 apiece.
STERKTE!
Hi All,
As yet we don't know how long the 100 persons max ruling on events will last. We are hoping it's for 30 days like the other rulings, but we will hear more today from the cabinet apparently.
We are hoping that things will have changed in the positive in 6 weeks time, and that we will be able to run the event.
regards
John Swanepoel, Race Director
This is great
In the old days, Tours were conducted in the winter, miniming risk on most fronts. The Giro never had to cancel stages, as a summer event, why? (Or did they, ever?)
Hard course? In what sense, asking from a not-knowing perspective.
- Great racing. Hard course.
- Almost ZERO traffic which was amazing to race on.
- Not a lot of spectators. Few family members
- Small fields in the ladies, vets cats that I saw. Not many participants willing to travel that far for ANY event.
- Expensive weekend away
- The roads to the venue was a shitshow. Potholes as big as Kimberly's hole. And lots.
sorted
Hoedspruit?
Like: two hours max from a regional and / or major airport, approx 1000 tourism beds in town, 8-15 restaurants, a funding partner, friendly towards cycling, plenty of social development opportuntities.....anyone know a few towns like this in the country?
Remote place on earth.
Last year in Pretoria we had AMAZING big field and great spectator crowds.
I see Australia has fixed their venue of Nationals for the next 3 or 5 years.
How clever. Bring cycling to the people and KEEP IT THERE. Novel idea.
he started the biz before 11's were invented
12? Was 11 taken? Doubt any of the riders he "trains" use 53x12.
it has to be hard
That's also some really impressive timing... It's hard enough to get a simultaneous orgasm with just two people
We can do it again, - easy to organise, but rider-tears are too wet.
don't think we'll ever see the old hels on anything again, the giro del capo with ~7 circuits of old hels was the bomb.
Note: you can join us for as many days as you like, PLUS, we provide transfers between the Tour and Cape Town, each day.
All costs available on request. Please also share your Strava link if you have one. We don't want you to be too fast.

Former ASG types.
Simonsrust shopping centre for parking. It is 'safe' once you are over Helshoogte.
such a solid idea; now, how does one do that?
Open your own thread.
It won't be in conflict with this thread.
We are looking at re-introducing the TdB from 2020 onwards - with a nice twist or two - so a poll might advise whether it should be clover-leaf or a "real" tour.
Anyone keen to share a few more needs, before we establish a poll?
All thanks muct go to CSA and ASG in assisting us in achieving our latest status: one of the coolest, most profitable and enjoyable cyclo-tours in the province....and it is still just a sideline.
The old race (Tour de Boland) was exactly like that - feels like a tour but not far out by distances - I think the one year they started in Paarl and stages finished in Tulbagh and Riebeek Kasteel, possibly Worcester too.
So who has seen this? Rapport Toer/Tour 2021 Paarl
