  1. Such a HUGE lane and not one car in sight.....
  2. Found that out too last year sometime. Bit nasty if you look at how long it has been running and what really has got "better" for cyclists in cape town now? After 30 years we now have one thorn filled cycle path from table view to town, but there is still zero more rules and laws on the road to protect us better.
  3. Wow that is shocking for the woman. Definitely not a lady by a far shot. Notice a general trend though that as soon as us cyclists take to the road in number we seem to loose our road sense. We almost seem to think that in a group we are invincible and cars will always see us and adhear to what we are doing. It just takes one careless driver and there we have 15 dead guys because they were in the middle of the road. I have found that commuting to work has done wonders for my "road sense". In the back of my mind now I am always thinking that there is a truck behind me that is going to wack me. So that brings you to nice riding very quickly.
  4. Geez bru. What kind of blanket are you carring there then? Gross. Tip for mosquitoes. Garlic. Take captules every night before going to sleep (it drops your blood pressure so it may make you light headed in the day and you will also stink during the day if you take it early.) Well they generally stop biting you when your blood doesnt taste nice. Takes a little while to kick in though. Other bonus. It boosts your immune system big big time. I have had countless times of feeling sick sick and feeling I am getting the flu. A few garlic gloves cut up (cheaper than the tablets for me) and swallowed 90% of the time I am as good as new the next day. Oh, the odourless tablets are not as effective. The stuff in the garlic that makes it smell is that good stuff (alicen or something) So now you too can shave your legs and not look like chewbaka
  5. Thanks man. well I was a bit sad when I got home when I realised I had come home an hour too early........ My wife was going out, I thought she said 9 but it was actually 10. Bummer. Could have stayed on for another 30 minutes. Not quite sure if the relapse last night was food poisoining or the bug again. Met father in law at spur for lunch and I am beginning to wonder if that rib burger was all ok. (I have got sick on more than one occasion from the food from there) Still feel like a truck has ran me over, but that could also be the lack of sleep last night.
  6. So does your body just "use" another vein then? If they are blocking that one off?
  7. Was nice meeting up with you guys for a little while yesterday. I was really sorry that I had to leave early. What a lovely hot windless day it was. Had another spout of my bug last night and I was loosing it badly from both ends all night. So feeling like a truck has just ridden me over. We should really keep these hub rides up. If we carry on getting more people joining us we could even setup our own little league.
  8. I dont know if that is a good or a bad thing.......
  9. haha! just remember to take it easy tonight then
  10. 10km extra..... Are you sure you boys are going to manage that......
  11. Well, I think the difference is probably almost nothing. But maybe over the course of a couple of days of stage racing, if you add it all up you may have saved a few watts at the end which I suppose counts for something. You do also get ones with ceramic bearings, so there must be a "reason" for it.......
  12. So can we take those figured and times them by 10 for next sunday then?
  13. Spot on. Still getting over my stomach bug! Worst I have felt in years. I wanted to go to hospital so badly so they could just give me something to make me feel better. Anyway, have a nice ride.

    Cycling to work

    Where you commuting to?
  16. Always nice to hear someones own tips!
  17. Not quite sure what is going to happen on my side, if I am going to be able to join or what. Wife is not well, so I have only been on my bike like once a week for the past few weeks. So even if I can make it (if she feels better) I am starting to doubt that I am going to be in shape for this. Will have to see!
  18. Tristan Are you running 3.8 - 4 as your sustained power or is that your peak power output? If that is you sustained, then if you are in the right group then you will be capabile of doing it. However, most "A" group (elite) riders have a peak power output of over 5. Our top local elites around 6. But with that being said, a ppo isnt the make or break of a race. Your ability to stick the sweet spots and race "cleaver" at the end of the day will count more in your favour than being a bit weak on the PPO score. Just go out there and race as hard or enjoy the day as hard as you can. No use speculating times, cape town is always unpredictable when it comes to the argus.
  19. It was a premeditated murder. The intent was - If someone does ever drink it they will die. So lets leave it in a place where they will think it is booze..... So yes, it will end you in the chookie. Rather rig a nice electrical surge at your place that will knock them out. Then just get home to bury them.....
  20. 4.45 in the morning..... Frail, please dont tell us that you are stripping again .....
  21. Where you going to do this Frail? Argus route?
  22. Just make sure you bury them properly.... Chances are, you will act out of self defence, report it like a good boy and you will end up sitting in jail for the rest of your life. Our country protects the criminals far too well.
  23. Awesome. I dont need someone to ride with, although it is always nice to have someone with you. But I come from table view, so wont be able to join in with you guys. Do you have some contact details for him so he can explain the ropes to me at the OM side.
