  1. My gravel bike.

Bought as a CX Crux below from Complete Cyclist.

Its had a few upgrades since then.

Bogus spray job. GRX 8010 upgrade. New Wheels. Wider tyres. First went with 40c Ramblers, have come down a bit to 35c.

The difference between cable and hydro brakes are immense. I had to put on XT calipers as GRX was flat mount. Jury is still out on 1 x GRX, I use it mostly on the road and hard pack trails, so perhaps a compact Ultergra groupo would have been better. But GRX felt new and shiny when I was standing in the shop :D

Struggling with the same decision. There's a 2x11 Grx setup which may tick the boxes.

  2. Received my order yesterday. It was with Dawnwing in Joburg for 9 days. Thankfully received the item now

Lucky. I seriously dislike Dawn Wing as I've had way too many bad experiences with them. My package is still in Cape Town, it seems. Ah well, it can wait.

  3. PARCEL ARRIVED AT DAWN WING CPT 2020-05-20 18:16

MASS DIMENSION VERIFICATION CPT 2020-05-20 18:29

SHIPMENT SHIPPED FROM DEPOT CPT 2020-05-20 18:30

SHIPMENT RECEIVED BY DEPOT WRD 2020-05-21 03:52

    And so the wait begins.

  4. received email that says my package is with DawnWing and I can track it. Delivery i guess will be tomorrow I guess.

but dawning does not recognise the tracking number...

Ditto. Remember to add "CWC" in front of your order number.

  5. So CL decided to deliver my idt this morning without the Ant+ dongle I ordered along with it.

Don't know if I should be happy or sad.

Live chat assistant indicated no stock of dongles.

And Bluetooth isn't an option for you?

  6. they just received the assos stuff and will start processing orders tomorrow !

Thank heavens, because my bike from another shop arrived today and I'm waiting for my pedals in a CWC order. Managed to find an old pair of 520's which I had to freshen up with some Q10 in order to get the bike around the garden as a test ride  :whistling:

  7. I have a set of pedals coming from CWC. I also have a new gravel bike coming next week from anther store, which is going to be needing abovementioned pedals. Hopefully they arrive soon!

  8. So I see that all my orders from CWC have moved from processing to incomplete. WTF does this indicate?

Any one else noticing the same?

So instead of speculating, I got in touch with CWC and asked. "Incomplete" means that there's an item in the order which prevents shipping of the entire order, due to regulatory limitations. I have a pair of bib shorts, for example, which isn't allowed to ship. The rest of my order is fine to ship, however, but seems like it won't until everything can go.

  9. that will affect all the gears

Nope. I've had a bent hanger which worked well enough in most gears that it took me a while to figure out why only the highest or lowest two gears in my cassette were having trouble shifting cleanly, irrespective of what I did with indexing.

  10. hahahaha Jason is also looking for the same email.

If the order forms are jumbled this could be the biggest shambles since Zuma was elected president!

Could work out incredibly well for that one guy who ordered some inner tubes and is now getting a Kickr or a surprise bike.

Imagine having to explain that to your wife after she's already pissed off with your previous N+1 purchase? "No, darling! I didn't buy this, it was a mistake in their shipping, I promise!"

  11. My LBS will be open for spares and repairs so maybe just check with your LBS...

Who is your LBS? My local is closed and I need someone to true a wheel for me.

I have a gravel bike on order that's not shipping until suppliers are open again, so that's making me pretty sad.

  12. Guys/gals...

I am considering upgrading my bike, I’ve always really like the specialized bikes. I’d like to take a look when all this virus sh*t is over... There are no shops near me, can anyone recommend a shop in jhb/cpt as I am in both fairly often?

Complete Cyclist has a solid selection of bikes on the floor. Good guys as well.

  13. Thx for this information. CIOVITA was my brand of choice as their Corsa 1.0 was good and well priced... Mind you looking at their latest prices and your comment, I will look somewhere else.

Ciovita used to be great value for money, considering its quality. These days, that's just not the case anymore. So sad.

  14. I don't know if it is an urban myth or not:The brother of a old high-school friend was a paramedic for a few years, and apparently they had some meds on hand for use in extremely bad accidents where they didn't want the survivors to remember the gory aftermath at the crash scene.

Don't know if this is feasible, or whether the trauma to the head does lead to short term amnesia naturally...

Don't know about whether paramedics use it, but Rohypnol has that effect.

  15. Turns out the best on-line price is IN-STORE ... :whistling:

Been following this thread, hoping they would respond with a nice special on this HR monitor .... I was in store over the weekend and looked at the monitors on the shelf ..... Sure the price on the shelf was less than what I remembered from the on-line price .... went home and checked on-line ... Full RRP of R 1 299 .... price on the shelf only R999. :w00t:

popped in today, and the NEW shelf price is R 1299 .... but they left the old units at R 999

Even got my 5% club discount

Unfortunately it'll probably cost me a bit more than the R300-odd saving to get to Cape Town from Johannesburg.

Are you sure you got the X? The normal model seems to sell for around R999.

  16. Bianchi XR4....ticks all the boxes

My next bike. It also has pretty good tire clearance for that low PSI 28mm goodness.

I'm definitely looking for something a bit more plush than my current super aggressive frame.
