  1. Hi Martin, From someone in CT - you can obviously rent or by your own machine also: "There is a big market in selling office solutions to customers. Usually the company either rents a machine to the customer or they buy their own one and get beans delivered to them. So it usually works out to between R140 - R200 per kg of beans and each 1kg will make about 70 cups of coffee so your cost per cup (just on coffee – lots of people throw heaps of milk and sugar) would be R2 – R2.85. For 85c I would rather get a coffee everyone in the office will enjoy and not just the cheapest :)" Not too clear I know (to me anyway) but I can find out more if you are interested.

Eish what a damp squib. I confess to liberal use of the fast forward watching recorded MotoGP (and WSB) races as some are truly boring. But the last few had some life and I got to quite like the characters, even Jorge looked a little human until the last two rounds. No one came out any better; not MM, JL, VR, Dorna, Honda or Yam. some worse. This is racing to me.
  3. Funnily enough I posted that some NZ towns financed MTB trails to attract tourists and SA should do the same. Some clevva hubber told me SA was not NZ. Africa wins again.
  4. Baaisikilist; wrong lawyer bru (or no lawyer?). Maybe Barry Roux will be available at discounted rates soon

Interesting race - I normally record them so I can fast forward the boring bits but nearly lost the excitement on this one. Maybe wet / intermediate tyres are one of the few things left where rider input can make such difference. Otherwise it is the best electronics package? I heard the "wing" commentary and have read that getting downforce on the front wheel for braking as well as just for weight distribution is helpful. Note how close the radiators and engine is to the front wheel. Lorenzo's interview was quite impressive to me - he seemed quite cheerfully philosophical as he tried something and it didn't work. He certainly was not slow or tentative in the wet! I'm sort of supporting Rossi but think he will have his work cut out to hang in there with Lorenzo who is so much quicker just about everywhere in normal conditions..I reckon he can bang bars with the best of them; you do not get a few world titles being a test rider.

"I reckon he could give Johnny Walker a run for his money in the dirt"; I'd like to see it. Marquez can't even stay on a bicycle offroad and I think he got his leg broken trying to compete with some dirt (track) biker in the off season. Sissies I tell you
  9. Thanks; dangerous topic this. Note to self - keep credit card for cycling related purchases coming up otherwise there will be tears
  10. Hand grinder. Which is the best reasonably (say under R1 000) priced? The Porlex? Please, no comments from the serious for whom grinders start at R10 000 ; I will start looking at them, then there is trouble.
  11. A KTM 690. Depending on your intended use there are a few things to know about. Mainly fuel injection filtration for off the beaten track and frame bolts for luggage. Big mileage - valve rocker arms. Plenty, plenty internet resources. The newer models are better.
  12. That is so so sad, but shows resilience as well. So senseless. Let it be a lesson to those in cars on the road.
  13. With all quiet on the 2 stroke thread you could always try this SM
  14. Nice one on the Rundu - Katima area (oom Willie se pad; that white calcrete?). Incredible how built up the areas were 12 years ago after last being there like 35 years ago. Time flies; not always having fun.
  15. My 2c; from reading the motor cycling world I would be a little wary of the removable chin piece. It may remove itself when you need it most.
  16. Whew admirable but I'm just guessing that you okes will be mal if you miss the ballot!
  17. Go for the trees - Geraint Thomas took on a Ppole and survived relatively unscathed.
  18. The first clip looks like he could never make it; the second possibly if you look at the rider who ran wide just before the cars came. Methinks there have been a few too many riders nudged or obstructed by cars and motor bikes recently. Well, last 2 or 3 years. Phinney comes to mind.
  19. ewep; apologies in a way and I take your point. I shouldn't be too quick to run the GS's down unless I have actually ridden one for some time, which I haven't. I have pushed a few in mud and sand, picked up pieces from a few and seen some really hair raising near accidents from maybe the early days when ABS was still used on gravel roads. Service can be iffy and expensive as parts seem to break easily (get water in the engine in Baviaans and it is epic). I wasn't there but read the tale. The rides I have been on (Alfies' DS rides, Rally Raid, Lesotho and in sand) the GS's have battled but it was really light bike country KTM 690, Honda XR 650 etc, possibly KTM 950's and 990's. I have two KTM's and I very seldom go over 150kph on either (RIP quite a few guys). But the GS's are comfortable (two up also) over the KTM plank, have a lowish seat height and low first gear. Great for good gravel roads and SA's poor tar roads and seemingly pleasant club rides - I know a few of the members. "My GS goes most places the 2 strokes go in the Inanda valley in Kzn!" well maybe on the gravel roads otherwise I don't think so unless the standard of rider has dropped hugely.
  20. Ah Tromp, BMW "racing" is interesting. I wonder if they did not under-estimate the jump to being competitive in Superbikes just thinking in good Germanic fashion that they would build a state of the art machine and it would win easily. It almost did, then they gave up. Similar off road racing with their own slightly odd bikes then Husqvarna. All they have been successful at is the Dakar and that had a long history and big effort. Aside from those mad ISDE airheads that is Why one would buy a GS for "offroad" is a little beyond me - great Long Way Down marketing I guess or a Harley "lifestyle" thing. Just maybe for gravel road cruising.
  21. If the hi-jacking during a race, and the idea that the organiser is responsible, is not a reason to consider "getting the hell out of here" I don't know what is.
  22. He he Deanbean; 40km with 1250m of climbing "a bit of climbing". Sunds demanding, I'd be scared of a ride where you said "a lot of climbing". Beautiful part of the world and long may it last.
  23. Aside from McCaw's ability he also plays the ref very well, starting from before the kickoff; ask that SA RWC final ref.
  24. Like cricket, the problems with SA rugby go deep. But central contracts for players, as I understand operate in NZ, would be a good start.
