Hi Matt How about a lost and found section? I've picked up a couple of items in the past and never know if I should post in Rant & Rave or Chit Chat. Most recent item was a transponder at Tokai on Saturday - I think I may have traced the owner using the Racetec website, but if Jon Lederle (Transponder no: RAC26522) is on the forum, PM me... Last year's 99er mtb race - 6 or 7 punctures and ended with a slow leak in both tyres and had to stop every km or 2 to pump up the tyres... Will be putting in tyre liners this year!

When I first tried to view the new look site on my work PC with IE8, there was just text with pictures. Loaded Google Chrome and all is good... But, when I first viewed the site one my Blackberry, it initially looked awesome and was fast, but then the next time it was just text and pictures - no graphics or layout. Any suggestions? (other than get an iPhone/Samsung... )

Bought a second hand bike that is fitted with tubeless tyres. However, front tyre went flat the other day and the tubeless fluid needs to be topped up. Not knowing what type of fluid was in there, must I clean the tube and rim before putting in new fluid? What brand of tubeless fluid do you recommend? How often should you top up the tubes?

You can also get neoprene glue. Of course it depends on the tear as to whether it will last. Back in my student days I did a fair bit of snorkeling for crayfish & perlemoen and I had saved up for a new 5mm suit and on my first outing got dumped on the rocks by a wave and put a gash in the sleeve. Patched it with some neoprene glue once and never came apart.

I stuffed up with my Mrs once... Organised a ride at Koeberg with a bunch of friends/family and kids etc. Then one of my (single) buddies cleared off into the distance and I chased him down thinking my wife would be happy to ride with the other wives... Boy, was I wrong! I think, eventually, it was the words, "Sorry honey, but my brain switched off and my legs took over!" that defrosted the cold shoulder I was getting.

Conversely, take time at the top to (briefly) take in the view - what's the point of taking part in a sport that takes you to the top of mountains if you don't enjoy the view? Wrap your multitool, tyre levers, puncture kit etc in an old rag and keep it together with an elastic band. That way they won't rattle around and you have a rag to wipe your hands with (as opposed to your cycling kit) if you do have a mechanical problem. Suppose it could also be used as emergency TP as well...

"Worst" I've seen at Tokai was a real beauty of a boomslang. Well over a metre with a bright yellow underside. It was crossing the logging road up at Level 5.

You won't get any flatter than Koeberg nature reserve. The loop is about 26km (?) so you could do that 4x to get to 100km... As mentioned the K2C is very hilly, but it's all gravel. Best bet for training would to ride up and down the gravel roads at Tokai... Enjoy the K2C, scenery is fantastic!

Just realised the white stuff across the front of the armoured truck is not it's bumper - it's the left hand side of the bakkie! Mental note made not to play chicken with armoured trucks in my Corsa bakkie...

Hey, Gumtree works for me - I've bought and sold motorbikes, a car, cellphones, workshop manuals, braais, bicycles etc... Never had a serious issue. Sure, you get some time wasters so don't hold your breath when someone says they coming to see the item. When selling, make sure you have cash in hand before you part with your item and don't promise to keep an item for someone. When buying, look at the advert and if it reads as though it was written by an idiot, it probably was... So maybe avoid those. Most of the people I've dealt with are ordinary Joe's just trying to do a deal...

For tools you don't use all that often (cassette removers etc), go halvies with a buddy. A friend and I did that, and we've now got a reasonable collection of tools together over the last few years. We very seldom have needed the same tool at the same time, and if we have had, then it's just a good excuse to have your mates over and go tinker in the garage over a beer! Obviously you still need to get your own 'everyday' tools...

Gotta love our 'tough' winters here in Southern Africa... (although it's no so pleasant right now in CT...)

The most technical part is dodging the water bottles, spare tubes and saddle bags that get dropped/broken off on the rough section coming down the Ou Wa pad...

I'm looking to upgrade my old Scott Yecora to a dual suspension... Found a 2009 Commencal Meta 4 for R7500. Condition is generally good, rides nicely. Sound like a good deal? Not having owned a DS before, anthing specific I should be looking out for? Thanks...

Replaced the rear cassette and it stopped jumping at the back... only to start jumping on the front chain ring. So replaced the middle chain ring and at last everything seems to be working... Except then I came down with the flu, so I haven't ridden the bike since...
