  1. So my daughter says to me this evening, "Daddy, what do you want for Christmas?" I was about to say the usual biltong but before I can, she says, "Daddy, I'm going to get you some Lego!" She's only four and half - Love this kid!! I then remembered I had a R100 Takealot voucher... so I bought me my Christmas presents from the kids: http://www.takealot.com/lego-technic-record-breaker/PLID34171416 And this to get a set of wheels to go with her Friends Lego: http://www.takealot.com/lego-city-snowplow-truck-60083/PLID34169993

  3. Apparently my brother-in-law is spoiling his niece this Christmas with this: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Ariel-s-Undersea-Palace-41063 Guess I'll be building Lego with my daughter on Christmas Day... (and then trying to work out some more 'interesting' creations... I may also buy her a small set that has a car in it... I'm desperate for some wheels to work with!! )
  4. My daughter has Friends Lego and Barbie Megabloks... The Megabloks just doesn't feel quite the same or go together as well as the Lego... you can't beat the original!! She got the Barbie Megabloks first and it was really frustrating at first, trying to build cool stuff out of the pretty limited pieces meant to make salons and pet shops, but then as she got more Friend Lego, the possibilities started to expand and I was able to create this: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/10891816_913723148651537_6398216928288859766_n_zps1lte9549.jpg But it turned out the Friends Lego scorpion wasn't compatible with the Megabloks Barbie... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/1491729_914231385267380_5914197982438346633_n_zpsxyrozkku.jpg Then the arrival of a Lego Juice Bar set, resulted in a Planet 57 inspired hover laser craft: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0366_zpszfbczksc.jpg And then the other day, I managed 3 spacecraft/fighters with what was left after we built the Barbie's a house... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0021_zpsnzk3xvvi.jpg Actually, I don't care what I build, some of the best conversations I've had with my daughter have been while sitting on her bedroom floor building Lego...
  5. With recent bike thefts at events, race organisers in SA may need to take such drastic measures to protect riders...
  6. For pizza loving hubbers... http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/gift/fixie-bike-pizza-cutter
  7. I wouldn't exactly run out an buy their album, but in terms of improving on the original, Vanilla Sky vastly improved Rihanna's Umbrella... (although the same can't be said for the music video... )... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvC6VS4Np4U
  8. My 3 year old daughters favourite song right now... but because a Tina version is used at the end of the movie Flushed Away (also one of her favourites). And as I have a CCR cd in the car, every morning on the way to crèche I hear "Can we listen to Flushed Away daddy?" from the back of the car. We had a great sing-along this morning...
  9. My son got some nice deals too... Only his birthday is in June... And he'll be turning 1... And I bought the Technics set with the 8 wheeled truck with pneumatic's bits and a motor... It's an investment, right? And it will make an awesome set to form the basis of his collection to add other sets too. And it was half price! I couldn't turn down a deal like that. Well, that's what I'm telling the wife... And I also bought him the police Duplo set to bring some 'balance' to the Disney princess themed stuff his 3 years old sister has...
  10. Kalahari have a sale on Lego - 50% off certain items... Today only. Pay day isn't too far away... Just saying...
  11. If you've had to endure Frozen as many times as I have, this will give you a laugh:
  12. For all the Grammar Nazi's... This is a priceless Weird Al...
  13. Close but wrong precious metal... Goldwing, not Silverwing...
  14. Definitely try to get to Rotorua... It's about an hours drive south of Hamilton I was there beginning of last year. I was fortunate in that we were staying with friends and he organised a bike for me to use, so can't comment on hiring etc but there are loads of places that offer bike hire... We spent most of our time in Auckland and I wanted to try Woodhill as well but we were on the eastern side of Auckland and it was quite a trek to Woodhill which is on the western coast, so didn't manage to get there...
  15. Mines an '81 R100CS - had it for about 15 years now. Has the same handlebar fairing as the R90, but was off when I took this photo to replace the screen: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/IMG00099-20111020-1740_zps0cf311c2.jpg Also had this '99 KTM200exc for a few years - wow, for a 'fun per cc' factor this was hard to beat! http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/KTM.jpg Miss the smell of burnt 2 stroke oil...
  16. I found using varying sizes of sockets worked well with a long bolt and washers to get the pivot bearings in and out...
  17. Nicely done! Great to see lots of new trails planned for the future!
  18. It's because you're claiming as a third party from someone else's insurance policy. That means you're dealing with the insurers legal department, and generally the gears turn very slowly in all insurers legal departments. If you were claiming from your own insurance policy, it would get sorted out quickly...
  19. There was a spate of muggings up there a few years back - they were targeting tourists hiking higher up in Fernkloof and then escaping down Rotary Way. Sad to hear they're back... Hope the cops can catch the scum...
  20. Arrgh! Was trying to organise a bunch of mates to enter a fun team, but we have to move office premises over that weekend!
  21. Amazing building that! When I visited it, I spend more time photographing the building than looking at the stuff in the museum!
  22. Finally (after a bout of flu) got to try out Boomslang over the weekend! Looking good! I also realised you have a far greater appreciation for a trail after you've wielded a spade to help make it happen! I'll definitely be back for more build days! Thanks Deon and the guys for all your hard work!
  23. Rotorua has some incredible mtbing! I spent a couple of days there in Dec/Jan when I went over to visit family. Had a jol! Enjoy!
  24. And 2 (so far, I'm still working on some others ) of my buddies will be joining us...
  25. I'll be there. Trying to rope in some of my non-Hubber mtbing buddies as well!
