  1. Just got an email from Takealot - they have some Star Wars Lego on special today... #justsaying...
  2. Yes it could... the one on the left could have pedals... #justsaying...
  3. It is!! Don't think you would ordinarily be able to get bunches like that though as they set you off at intervals, but that would certainly add to the fun! I was surprised how many people I saw come off (and some had proper roasties...) But if you're ever in Rotorua, spend the majority of your time mountain biking - there are some awesome trails...
  4. A cog in the cassette that drives the Hub is now missing... RIP Barry...
  5. I have a cousin in the States who's into Lego too and we were discussing pricing. It seemed pretty similar... I guess it will vary from model to model, but we were comparing pricing on the new GS800. I tend to buy on Takealot (if on special) or use our local Lego shop called Kiddiwinks... Enjoy! Lego is addictive...
  6. If you see a llama you must shout, "Look out, there are llamas!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbwkkXGmFrI
  7. Nice! No Lego for anyone this Christmas, but my daughter (aka Lord Business) dispacted her micromanagers (aka Dad) to organise all her Lego sets... so we just finished a marathon Lego building session where we built all of her sets... I'm all Elves and Friends lego'ed out... Differentiating between different shades of pink and purple piecies!
  8. Oooh, I see the 2017 Lego models are out... I want this one... https://www.lego.com/en-gb/technic/products/bmw-r-1200-gs-adventure-42063
  9. Takealot have loads of Lego on special at the moment... #justsaying
  10. So we had friends kids over on Saturday night to babysit... The two 5 years old girls were watching Barbie (or something equaling soul destroying for boys) so I got out my old Technic Lego for the 8 year old boy... We built a very basic rolling chassis with steering. My daughter looks at it and says "Is that all?" "Is that all?" Pfftt, sounds like a gauntlet been thrown down! Challenge accepted then! And this was what I ended up with... Something Lotus 7ish inspired: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0023_zpszr77b6cn.jpg My two year boy, trying not to destroy it: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0029_zpsbckrfnib.jpg
  11. I don't know... If that were me in the cage, I'd have involuntarily produced a cloud of brown stuff that would cut down the visibility!!
  12. Kinda what I was thinking... probably just not worth the effort... Oh well, guess I have to keep a look out for a longer lens now...
  13. Does anyone know if there is an 'easy' fix to get an older Sigma lens from the film era to work on a current EOS digital camera? After too long, I finally got a DSLR (a secondhand EOS 550D, just to get my foot in the door so to speak - a 70D would have been nicer but some reason my wife thinks paying the kids school fees is more important than taking up an old hobby... ) and, as I still have my old film EOS 5 camera and lenses taking up space in the cupboard, it would have been very nice if my Sigma 75-300mm lens worked with the 550D but it gives an Err 01 screen...
  14. Me too... Not sure about it yet, but it's only been one episode... Will see how the story develops, but the production seemed slick... I suspect it should be rated for SNVL (that's Sunsets Nature Vistas and Landscapes for all the gratuitous Cape Town scenery scenes that did seem rather randomly thrown in... But then it is called 'Cape Town' )
  15. Talking about having odd bits, the odd thing is that in the same box as I found the ships, were bits of a Tente spaceship and astronaut... Only I don't ever remember having a spaceship!!
  16. Not Lego, but I dug this out while visiting my mom over the weekend. It was called Tente, apparently discontinued a while back. Anyone else have any? Bit more fragile/brittle than Lego... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0683_zpsyzesx78z.jpg
  17. Was messing about with a stop motion app I downloaded on my phone and my son's pirate Lego... It was done very roughly (phone was handheld etc) as I was just experimenting, but I was pleasantly surprised: https://youtu.be/nW4yMHwS0no
  18. No instructions... Just the way every master builder prefers it!!
  19. Darn you Takealot!! They sent me a "we haven't seen you for a while so here's a R50 voucher if you spend R250 or more oh and by the way it expires in a couple of days" email the other day... So, I had to order something (Right?). And it just so happened that these two sets totalled R254, so 50 bucks off makes it a good deal (Right? At least that's what I told the Mrs): http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0434_zpsjon8nr3n.jpg and http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0436_zpscdigvvr5.jpg And I have very happy kids... So our last few evenings have been spent building the different models... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0448_zpsn8vwcqvy.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0440_zpsimd25wfo.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0442_zpslffwfutn.jpg Anyway, better go home now... My daughter's expecting to build the owl tonight!
  20. So when my wife asked my daughter what she wanted to get me for my birthday, she said Lego... ( I love that child!!) So my birthday morning was spent building this: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0302_zpsypou8thb.jpg
  21. The ostrich isn't chasing them... it's racing them. They must have beaten his Strava time on 'his' segment of road... It a stravasshole ostrich!!
  22. Maybe some of the local's can better advise? I haven't heard of any incidents. There's quite a lot of single track that winds near to the road, so the potential for a bad guy laying in wait is there, but I have never seen anyone on the trail other than cyclists. Riding by myself, I'm more worried about having a wipe out and injuring myself. It could be while before someone else comes along...
  23. I have an issue with the Hemel & Aarde trail... Every time I go there (which is a couple of times a year), the route has changed slightly. I'm expecting it to go left but then it goes right! What's with that?? They keep on improving the trail, tweeking the routes, adding more single-track, and making sure it is well maintained and sign posted! Seriously, a big to those responsible for building and maintaining the trail. I had a lekker k@k ride on Sunday. Lekker 'cos it was my first time out on my bike for ages and it's such awesome scenery. K@k 'cos it was my first time out on my bike for ages and I felt it!
  24. Sorry if this is slight highjack, but on the topic of male cancers and early detection etc... http://www.daredevilrun.com/ Next Friday the 19th... and for a good cause... Anyone else going?
  25. I was at my mom's place the other day and dug my old Technic Lego out the cupboard... Brought back some old memories! http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/stoffel30/DSC_0179_zpsgzgvggiq.jpg Not too bad - 30 odd years later and only 1 piece missing. But a few of the grey parts went brittle though with age and are broken... But managed to still make everything function.
