Thread appears to be going a bit wobbly, some good pro and cons mentioned but i have entered, (will be nice to win 1st prize) as i believe one can also get the "masses" on bycyles and in doing so identify the talent they need to, is to have someone they can relate to, and no a Malcom Lange or even a Robbie Hunter will not do it, but rather a Philemeon Radebe or Sipho Mbuse will.

The guy in the middle in yellow appears to have lights for dangling earings.

The agreement earlier with CGC was that for 2007 R75 cyclosport would cover all diciplines road, MTB, track and BMX and that 2008 one would need separate lic (at least that is what our club informed us). Now things appear to have changed, without proper communication. Not very well organised. Having said that at R150 direct afilliation would still work out cheaper than paying club fees, club kit and for a lic.

Yup, if you have a good LBS that knows there stuff. I do quite a bit myself but i have a good relationship with my LBS for the more difficult stuff.

Problem with this type of race is that your seeding is inflated, then when you have to tackle more difficult races, you battle to stay with the blue rinse grannies on shopping basket bikes. Rather do races such as Vodacom, Dome2Dome or Monte to get a more accurate seeding.

It will be difficult to manage the handing out of colour medals (such as Comrades), the 1st ten is easy enough as this is across the line, but not for 3 hours as even in the last batch, which leaves 2-3 hours after the 1st guys get off there are sub 3's. Perhaps rather issue gold, silver and bronze certificates based on the official timing.

Not overated in my opinion, but ability to multiple vote will skew the results.

At the price of biltong in the shops a few kg worth will cost almost as much as sponsoring Tiny in the cape epic.
