  1. Ideal for sh!.t stirrers?
  2. Our house in SA had a small poos (roughly 3 x 7 meters) which held about 30 000 litres of water. A 747 can take up to about 180 000 litres so that would be 6 times my pool so you might want to correct your statement that the 747 has a pretty large swimming pool in it.
  3. Was working as a waiter as a youngster and was clearing a venue after a function one day when I was carrying a platter over the one shoulder going down a flight of stairs when I slipped on some spilt cooking oil. Ended up sliding down the stair exactly like in this gif all the way down while balancing the platter. Was actually quite funny.
  4. I suggest that if that aircraft does take off that you remain seated for the whole flight and tighten that seatbelt properly and pay special attention during the emergency demo to the parts where they talk about decompression of the cabin. Oh and not sure who the "our" is you refer to but if it is your wife make sure she takes off her earrings. Heard the force of the decompression could rip earings of ears.
  5. Was wondering if the game had a happy ending.
  6. You reminded of these pictures I took. During the WC 2010 I went to Lanseria to look at among others John Travoltas weekend toy. When we got there a twin prop had to make a emergency landing with landing gear up. I pictured the whole landing but later saw this one guy (to the right of the pic) kissing the ground after getting out of the plane
  7. But it is not sucking dust, just leaving dust.
  8. There are some serious jetstreams over the North Atlantic at the moment. BA Flight 112 from New York to London has clocked a new record crossing the Atlantic in less than 5 hours. It is normally a almost 6 hour + flight. At one stage plane reached a ground speed of 711 knots. That is 1280 odd km/h. Ok Is see Flymango beat me to it.
  9. Wonder what the real issue is. They mention hard landing but later on they mention fuel was dumped. You only dump fuel if you know there is trouble comming and you need get rid of extra fuel to prevent fires. So there was a prior issue already. Interresting.
  10. and communicating ... showing the bird
  11. Comeon. Where is youre sense of adventure. Just hop over the wall and have a quick look.
  12. I never knew that.
  13. More like Rietvlei Reserve
  14. That pic was taken April 2014. We moved to Germany April 2015. I flew to Cape Town once or twice in the A330 by then but can't remember exactly if it was 2014 or even 2013
  15. I used to try and be in the neighbourhood just North of the airport (that is if they would land from the north) and park there with the car and take pictures of the aircraft as they land. The kids also used to like it to see mommy fly over them. Then I would hang around for a few more aircraft to land and then move to the arrivals terminal. This pic was taken when my wife returned from London the one time.
  16. Most of the international flights tend to come in a bit earlier even if they departed late. Over a 10-12 hour flight they can make up the time fairly easily unless the weather makes it a bit more difficult for them to catch up. In the early days of Flightradar they did not have the level of coverage over Africa like they have today. So if my wife was on her trips to Europe I would track the flights when they take off in Europe and by the time we would loose track of them over north Africa you would already see on the ETA on wether they would be on time or not. The challange was that we were 45 minutes drive from ORT. So by the time when they popup of Flightradar in Souther Africa over Botswana and Limpopo you pretty much had 30 minutes before they land.
  17. This one for example? Seems like it. Flew right over my head by the looks of it.
  18. Well directly translated it is Puberty animals but with the long teeth and nails I think tiger is more appropriate
  19. With three "ladies" in the house it is more of a electrical storm than a single ligthing. I would think life is a disco. On a side note I was at the local revenue offices. As I was waiting there was a sign at the help desk "Friendliness is a boomerang, it comes back to you". As the lady (who did not look in a paticular good mood as well) help me with question I asked here if I may take a picture of the sign. She looked rather baffled at me as to why I want to do it. I said I have two "Pubertiere" (German word used to refer to teenagers aka Puberty animals) who could do with this sign stuck up on their bedroom doors. The woman was laughing so loud that I could still hear her as I got to my car
  20. As LWB said. But I am a paid member (the entry level membership) so I have the historical data to my availability
  21. My wife has been in quite a mood the last couple of days. Maybe I should offer some of this medication. Should I not post anything on the hub tommorow, you can safely assume I have suffered the side effects of the medication.
  22. Don't see anything obvious. Does not look like speed and height was a big factor althoug there is about 500ft diff in height between the two appoaches. My guess would be that maybe a large flock of birds might have moved over the runway or some other obstacle that needed to clear quickly.
  23. This one? https://www.flightglobal.com/engine-falls-off-nationwide-airlines-737-200/77087.article
  24. Can't open it.
  25. And here I thought only in SA the taxi's loose their wheels ...
