  1. I have seen a C17 at Cape Town Int before.
  2. I was also wondering about that. Thought it looked more like Riverfire but not too familiar with the two cities I did not say anything.
  3. Still one of my favourates
  4. I can just imagine what thrill those guys in the building experienced. I did my military service at AFB Waterkloof and often when the B707 the airforce had would come in and use the opportunity to do some touch and goes. If it was at night we would rush out to the end of the runway in the bushes and sit on the roof of the Rhino when that 707 would come in. Even though it is still way over our head when it approached the runway it felt like that bird is put its wheels down on our heads.

  10. Not going to press the like button but I am holding thumbs that you guys will be sorted soon. Chin up and good luck
  11. That is incredible sized aircraft and must be a sight to see. I have been wondering however about the use of the aircraft. Sure there would be a demand for very large items that needs to be transported but I am wondering how cost effective it would be to use the AN225 for delivering medical supplies. It has quite a bit of crew required I would suppose (assuming two crew of at least three each) per "mission" and I suppose those 6 Ukranian engines still think that fuel is cheap. Wondering for medical supplies if two say 777 freighters would not have been cheaper to use. This is just purely wondering about the economics.
  12. I am glad to see you have your priorities set up correctly in life
  13. Our boss in Cananda had his dog throwing up on his feet during a conf call two weeks ago
  14. Did my basics in Hoedspruit in the beginning 90's. You would hear the sonic booms pretty often.
  15. A couple of years ago I was luckily standing on the balcony when two American F16 flew over us at quite a speed. Was an awesome site. Had I not been on the balcony I would never have seen them.
  16. That engine has a very paticulars sound to it.
  17. That would most propably be the Gripen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_JAS_39_Gripen The only other "Fighter Jet" would be the Hawk that is used for training. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAE_Systems_Hawk
  18. I suspect Pascha (my GSD) does not quite have the eyesight she used to have. Now if she sees old people with a walking ring or these pull along shopping bags on wheels, she thinks it is someone walking his/her dog. So she gets all excited and "agro" and as we get closer to the person she notices oh ... its not a dog. Then she continues walking normally and the poor old person almost soiled him/herself in some of the cases.
  19. I am sure the neighbours likes it. My GSD loved catching birdd, much to our disgust as we put in a lot of effort to attract birds to our garden (which it did, muct to the appreciation of our GSD). But now we are in a flat and her hips are not quite what it used to be. So when we go for a walk and she sees birds she get all excited but know it is just a window shopping exercise.
  20. Truly awesome creatures those. I am not sure if I would be crapping myself had I been on that board. It is afterall a predator and a very intelligent one at it as well.
  21. On my Saturday ride I stopped for this lovely picture ...
  22. Reminds me of a ride a year or two ago. Did not know the roads and the Garmin took me on a road that went smack through the middle of a golf course. Before I actually realised it was a golf course I almost got hit by a golf ball.
  23. A few of the A340-600 were used to fly Germans back to Germany over the last couple of weeks. There were two flights per day on average. One from Cape Town and one from Johannesburg. I think they are done with that now. There was a photo in the newspaper here end of last week with a pic of SAA crew all kitted in Viruskit before returning to SA.
  24. Anybody know how LWB is doing? His silence here is worrying.
  25. Agh ... in a couple of months you will be post rides in sunny SA where we will be stuck in a European winter. But not today
