  3. Bha ha. The chainring might be causing more misery than the ring would have
  4. Well we had Autumn alrigth today .
  5. Imagine letting a Soweto taxi loose there.
  6. Is this the long last Nellie - the supreme thread hijacker of the hub?
  7. What a coincedence. You oaks in the Cape have wonderful view so you have something keep your eyes occupied while fixing the punctures. The Gauteng dudes got nothing to see therefor less punctures
  8. I think in races I had one ever (Not mentioning my Panorama tour. There I had 5 on one day but that is a story for another day). Commutes to work is where I got my punctures. Also when the tyres were reaching end of life is when punctures started to a frequent thing.
  9. I recently bought two tyre kits for each of my bikes. It just holds a spare tyre, tyre levers and has space for one CO2 bomb in it. It is very small and straps in under your saddle. As I said each bike has one now. Then I have a palm size tool bag that fits into my back pocket containing 2 CO2 bombs, self adhesive patches, multi tool, mask (Since covid if I need to stop at a shop and buy something), silicon gloves. Also I have an adapter for the valve that I can pump the tyres at a garage. I have never had an issue with the self adhesive patches. Just make sure you give the tube a good scrub with the piece of sandpaper you get with the patch kit and apply pressure on the patch when applying it. I have been using it for years. I also have to add that I hardly ever get a puncture since I came to Germany. In SA punctures was a common thing but I think I have had maybe 3 in five years.
  10. What I like about the Garmin virtual partner is that you can use it almost all the time. You just setup the avg you want to chase and off you go. And then off course you can create a course and the set an expected avg speed you want to ride and the virtual partner will use that. For the record I have the Garmin 820 but as far as I know the 520 also had the future. Be carefull for the Explore models as I think they do not have it.
  11. Garmin 520/530, 820/830, 1030 will have the virtual partner for you.
  12. Well lets just get the tim to them and see what the final verdict is before we get too excited. I did mention though if it is normal wear and tear that caused this I most propably will buy another brand that could deal with normal wear and tear better.
  13. Well I just spoke to the DT Swiss agents here in Germany. They said it should not have happened. Even if it is out of warranty I must send the rim in for them for inspection and they might actually replace it.
  14. My gat jik al lank al vir deep section carbons. My vraag hou carbon rims ook langer as alu rims? Dit is beslis die geval by die rame met my so.
  15. I hardly ever had to true the wheels. Only replaced 1 spoke on the front wheel once and two spokes on the back. The spoke has not been replaced where this crack came though.
  16. Dan sou die raam onder my dik gat gekraak het
  17. So having crap weather the weekend, it was a good time to service the road bike and true the wheels again. Much to my surprise I found this on my rear wheel. It is the DT Swiss PR1600 rims that came with the Canyon as I bought it and yes we are over the 24month warranty period that according to the DT Swiss website they give to all there products. Well to be fair, these rims already clocked about 14 000 km but I have never had this happen ever on any of my alu rims. Could this just be normal wear and tear or could this be a manufacturing problem and if possible how could I avoid it. I ask these questions as I need to decide with what I replace this rim. The same brand and type or should I look at something else. Other than this these wheels were absolutely a joy to ride. Oh the weight limit on the wheels according to the DT Swiss website is 120 kg and I am clocking in at 90kg so don't think that was cause. And there was no event that I recall where I hit something (like a pothole or similar) that could have caused this.
  18. If Jaco Ferreira still does bike setups I would go to him and have it done properly if I was you. https://www.facebook.com/engelsandferreirabio/
  19. Basically you were getting uptight when you put them on .... not suprised at all
  20. Why not got to Pilansberg for a day visit?
  21. Thanks for the laugh. Good start to my Friday
  22. Would tend to agree with you but had an issue with a bolt on my saddle that kept "relaxing" every so often which caused minute slip movement on the saddle and after a three hour ride the saddle would typically slip back 2-3 cm. Even though tightened to the prescribed torque. I eventually put a drop of loctite and bobs your uncle ... sorted.
  23. That storm is scraping past us today. Not going to hit us, but did hit central and north of Germany. But we will be having a rather windy day today with gusts of up to 65 km\h. Was already pretty gusty on my morning ride.
  24. Well I would sure take care not to book a cruise with them at all. Actually to make sure I will not even get on a plane with them. It is like traveling with Tom Hanks. You just don't do that.
