I know with these steel steeds it doesnt matter, but do you know what the weight is?
  5. Are your sure you want ot go with a one piece? Just thinking of the errrmm... logistics when nature calls during IM
  6. A while ago I rode with the sigletrack shop group and we rode from the shop to Rayton, but I can not remeber how to get to Rayton from the Quarry. I am familiar with the rest but its just that part that I can not remember. Does anyone have some pointers for me? I will be doing alot of riding in that area. I have a nice PTA East to Groenies to Zwavelpoort plotte then onto the railway line and back to Silverlakes. I will be doing the route sometime from the 22nd. Its about 105km if anyone is keen at an avg of 18 -20km/h.

  8. +1. The monster is a monster.
  9. We stayed here the last time: Well priced and just outside of Barberton: http://www.jockaccommodation.co.za/index.php/accommodation http://www.mpumalangahappenings.co.za/photos_jock_accommodation.htm
  10. I work in Rosslyn as well and always take my bike to Cycle House. Its about 10km from Rosslyn. Great service and its got a real old school feel to it. Give them a bash.
  11. I have done a couple of night rides on both the Zwavelpoort and Boschkop routes. I think it is fairly safe (but we are SA so you never know). Like stated above you just have to keep your eyes open for the dogs as well. We are usually about 4 riders, so I will post here when we do our next ride (or maybe in the Group ride section), then we can get a lekker group together. I have done a couple of rides with the peeps from D&D and I can recommend going with them as well. The do take it easy so it’s nice to settle in.
  12. OK, this morning was my first commute ever and what have I learned: PTA is truly an awesome city. Cycling from PTA East to Rosslyn in the North, I found that most of the route actually had a path on the pavement to ride on. Seeing PTA wake up is really cool. Brilliant! Getting on the road at 4:30 is feaken ridiculous. I am so tired and I still have to get back home later this afternoon. Note to self, no more puza Thursday My route is 43km one way. I think that is a bit too long to do every day but once a week is totally doable I will save quite a bit of money. 86km @ 12km/l X R12 (give or take a couple of km and cents) = well 86 time 4 = R344 + the one way tollgate on the N4 @ R10 (X4) = R384. Sounds good to me! Like I said, I really enjoy it, and if you want to you can get a nice safe’ish route. But the distance I need to cover is just a bit too much for more than once a week.
  13. Jip, that is me out too. Its like with the 5150. I just can not justify paying that.
  14. I read in a local mag that Morewood will be a releasing 650B DS (or maybe they have already). If it is anything like the Zula it will be brilliant.

  19. Where is the best place to shop for a front clamp-on brake to fit to my fixie? I found a couple on the web ranging from $60 to $198, but I am hoping for a bit cheaper local if possible. Thanks

OK, got my seeding and as it is my first big road race I just have a quick question on how it works. My race number is D 3482. So I presume I am in batch D? So my wife is in CC. How does it work if I want to ride with her? My start time is 6:47 and her 8:23. Can I just go with her and start with her? I am not concerned with my time at all. I just want to enjoy this ride with my wife. Do I need to make arrangements with the race office or will it not matter if I start anytime later than my seeding?
  22. I have had nothing but good service from them. I dont take my bike anywhere else. I also had a problem with a Silverback frame and had a delay but once they received the new frame I got the bike back the same day. I would suggest chatting to Anton and I am sure he will get it sorted chop-chop
  23. Like I said, I cannot find a lot of info on the bike so I thought that it might have been resprayed as something else (previously a Bassano), but I have found two more images on the web that show it actually is a Pista. Now I just need to find out what the correct pedals should be and I think it gonna be a huge mission to find tubbies from the correct period. Do you agree that it probably is from the 80’s?
  24. More research shows that it probably is a Pista.
  25. Here is my fixie: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/118638-pinarello-treviso/?do=findComment&comment=1722638 Please see the link to where I first posted it. I am hoping some of you can maybe give me a bit more info on the bike as my searches on the web have proved fruitless. From what I can see on the web it might be a Bassano but nowhere on the bike can I find the word “Bassano”. So I really don’t know. What I am trying to find out is what the original pedals were that the bike came with. The currently have clipless pedal on. And then I would like to get the original tyres as well. The tyres currently on obviously are not the original ones as you cannot inflate them over 3.5bar (then they start to rub against the fork). Can anyone please help with a bit of info? I think it is late 80’s from what I have seen but some links on the web suggest that it might be from the early 70’s. I am sure most of you are more knowledgeable than me with these bikes.
