  1. Thanks spinnekop
  2. Don’t know if this has been discussed before, but where can you look at your MTB seeding index? I usually searched on saseeding.co.za but it says the site does not exist anymore. Nothing on advendurances’ site as well
  3. Jip, only the sprint races are draft legal, so you will gain a lot by using a TT bike in 5150 and Midlands. I would say go for the TT bike.
  4. What speed and distance does the group do? Do you head out along 'the spoor' or the Zwavelpoort plotte?
  5. +1. Saved huge amounts on the hub
  6. I have to agree here. On the bike it is easy to maintain even a 65% of max HR, but running is a bit of a problem. For most (like me) you have to walk now and then to keep the HR below 80% during a gentle jog. I dont know how someone can stay at less than 75% running, but during the Comrades broadcast they showed the HR af one runner (Shaun Meiklejohn) and he was at 74% at the halfway mark. So it is possible, I just dont know how
  7. A quick question on Ketones and Maffetones technique The last week I have done all my training in the 180 – age zone. On the weekend I tested with the Ketostix and it was dark purple. During the week it stopped and today there isn’t even ‘trace’. Can this be due to training in the aerobic zone? We know that your it’s better to test ketone levels in the blood and that the body does become more efficient in using the ketones over time so less will be excreted. Am I correct in saying that his might be the cause of the change in testing with Ketostix? My diet was 80:15:5 (FPC) this week thus far
  8. If anyone is interested, here is a free ebook from authoritynutrition http://authoritynutrition.com/food-addiction/
  9. I went into the shop the other day and they have a 60km and a 90km group on Saterday's and on Sundays they have a 100+ ride. I dont know what times though
  10. This link might be of some interest to you even though it does not have scientific info. Check the other link in the article on the 1 year reports as well http://www.dietdoctor.com/a-happy-little-meat-eater I am not a part (yet), but I honestly think that if my wife allows it, my kid will be a more paloe diet. I don’t think I will go full LCHF with the baby as I don’t know if he/she is carb resistant yet. But I don’t think you can go wrong with paloe. I know many people in the family will blow their tops, but after all the research done I am sure it will be a great lifestyle for a baby/tod I would love to get my hands on some research on this so if anyone has some, please share
  11. I heard that there is a route from Centurion to Harties off road (about 100km there and back). Does anyone have some info on this route or maybe a map or so?
  12. I went to the door. Nothing there. Sure you had the right address?
  13. How long are you on LCHF? I felt exactly the same for about 6 weeks. The motivation was very low. I wasn’t tired (like sleepy) but I just did not feel like training. Now 2 months down the line I am getting back into it.
  14. I see there is Macadamia Nut Butter for sale in the classifieds. Anyone have experience with the supplier or product? https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/49997-macadamia-almond-peanut-butter/
  15. Just a question on that Does MAX mean the max amount of beats your heart can do or does it refer to the MAX beats per min that it is safe and not damaging to you heart?
  16. I cycled with him a coouple of times at the Singletrack (in Hazeldean) group rides. Awesome bloke. I have to agree, the service at the new shop really is good
  17. I have to compliment CSA on the process of getting a “Membership” license I went onto the site, logged in with my credentials from last year, updated my profile, continued to check out, paid with the CC and 10 seconds later my license was emailed to me. BANG! No issues. That is how it should be done!
  18. I agree 100%. That is why I am currently scouting for a nice club to ride with before I join one. I have joined another club for a ride or two late last year but they do not cover many km's. I think Velo will be much beter. Thank you to all for your feedback!
  19. I think you are right jcza. It seems like you only need to belong to a club if you want a racing license I got this from the website now: Cycling SA Membership: Membership will be available through the CYCLINGSA member management website (/). It is not necessary for CSA Members to belong to a club, but members which apply/upgrade their CSA Memberships to Domestic Racing Licenses need to belong to a registered cycling club. These options are all available on the CYCLINGSA member management website. The system opens on 1st September 2012. If New Applicants or Members which haven't purchased 2012 CSA Membership; they can now purchase their 2013 CSA Membership and their membership will be valid from the date of issue until 31st December 2013. (Membership can be used for the remainder of 2012 and for 2013) Membership will entitle riders to race, be seeded and participate in CYCLINGSA sanctioned events. Exceptions are detailed under Racing License Section.
  20. Thnak you Spinnekop. I think I will join them for a ride or two and see how it goes, but from what I see I think I will fit right in
  21. Thank you gents. This is what I was hoping for. How big are their groups. Are they massive or manageable?
  22. Jip, I have a lot of mates that joins me on the MTB, but we are only two that goes on the road rides. After last week’s tragedy, I don’t want to risk it anymore
  23. Are there any hubbers that ride with the Velo Club in PTA East? I usually joined the ROAG online club, but seeing that it is now renewing time again for CSA, I am looking at a club to join for “Safety in numbers” on the road. I see that they have a 28km/h and a 33km/h group, but I am would just like to know what distances to they do? Thanks
  24. Was supposed to do a 100km road ride today but could not get on the bike. I just cannot get the idea of my wife being a widow soon out of my head. Its ridiculous, I know. Tomorrow I will get on the MTB. Do 90 odd km and see what happens but I don’t know when I will get back on the road bike. My training buddy and I decided to not ride on the road just the two of us again. It’s not worth the risk. We are now trying to find a club that does 100km road rides at a not to slow speed. That is the only way I can see myself on the road bike again. I know one should keep on riding; I am just to freaking scared at the moment
