  1. Jip, Totally agree.
  2. I agree that Cherise should have been sent based on performance, but when you think about it they want to get a SA woman’s team at the Olympics that can work together for a medal. The 3 lady’s that will be there ride for the same team so they know each other and will probably work together better than if there were another big name in the pot. I think they are aiming for Ashley to get a medal and the other 2 will work only for that. I don’t think Cherise would have done that I don’t know cycling so well as most people here, but that is why I think they chose the 3 lady’s they did. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  3. Sheez!! This was really really hard. It must have been the hardest day of my life! How brutal was that 12km trail run? And the orienteering (more like mountaineering)? and and and.. The MTB was really short but hectic tough. The tracks shook the cr@p out of me We eventually finished in 07:56. I see that we were only two teams that did the (very short) paddle. I also heard that they told a lot of the teams to skip CP 32 & 33. Hecitc! Hard, but lekker. Very lekker.
  4. In my opinion this is the race that most other organizers should compare themselves to. The route was a real MTB route. It was bloody hard and tested ever part of MTB skill. Every hill or downhill had either rocks or sand or a combination of both. The route is a true test of your skills (and your bike). The way the finished look with the beer tent on the one side and the Rehydrate zone on the other was brilliant. It must be the best organized and practical setup I have ever seen at a finish. When I went and bought a burger from the Spur stand I didn’t even wait in a line. How cool is that!? Just 2 quick questions: Wasn’t this route easier than previous years? The section after the monster was really hard but from about 55km to the finish it wasn’t that bad. I also noted that this year there were 372 finishers in the 70km and in 2011 there were 277. Is It due to more entries or maybe the easier route? The amount of finishers in the 40km was 500 compared to 493 in 2011. I noted on the number boards we had that the SASeeding logo was displayed. Why didn’t they then use batch starts? Not that it would matter to me because I didn’t have a lot of congestion on the route and at most places the peeps that were pushing made way without any hassles for riders. Good one!
  5. I see the results are up
  6. I was in CT last week and you guys are really lucky. Freaking cycling lanes! How awsome is that?! I alos took a drive (sadly with the car cause I did not have my bike there) to Jonkershoek. There is a path there next to the road leading to Jonkershoek and with all the autum leaves it must be a kodak pic . I am heading down there in Dec again. This time the bike is going with!
  7. Any of you know if this is the first time this event is held? How hectic is the 70/80km one? I have done a couple of sprints but nothing this long. I do MTB marathons and can run a half marathon. I do a couple of sprint tri's and didnt do to bad in the Xterra Full this year.
  8. Honestly, I can’t really say I have been with a coach for about 9 months now and I cannot say that the little progress I have made I would not have done on my own. At my annual yardstick ->I had a terrible Sabie this year (I drop nearly 100 places) and that was without any mechanicals. My Tri times have improved but not by much. Actually it might have even stayed the same. My running times have improved slightly but here I have to add that I am not a very fast runner so the improvement I made might not/might have been due to the program. I have to add that I stick to the program religiously and rarely mis a session So I am sticking with the coach until the end of the year to see if it actually does bring down my times, but at this stage after 9months there is nothing to justify the money I pay every month.
  9. The idea looks great and I can just image the great scenery but Sho, that is a lot of money for only 7days with not much included. Lunch is not even included and you get tended accommodation with portable loo. I am sure this event is aimed at the international market that wants to explore SA with R10 500 to spare but I don’t think it will get a big following from SA cyclist. This is one of those events that you would rather tour on your own and save a couple of 1000 I really hope the event does great. As I said, the idea is really good
  10. I don’t know how many people here are into adventure racing but this one looks like fun. I see they have the long and a short one which is nice as we don’t usually have the longer ones near GP. I have never done a long one yet but am considering doing this one before the Swazi Adventure race in October. Who is going to do it? www.atfest.co.za
  11. I went the whole winter last year with only arm warmers and a wind jammer. In the past I used to wear a lot more but after 5min on the bike it just gets to hot so I stick with one the arm wamers and the Capestorm wind jammer
  12. Jip, Tubeless is the best invention ever! (well after the bike that is)
  13. Jip, very sad. It would be great if SS of SABC could come to the party. There are so many events and the people interested in Tri's are mostly of the higher income bracket so the advertising possibilities are there. Just think IM Xterra, Olympic distance champs etc
  14. Well done to all from SA. Looks like we are really strong on the Tri seen. Cross, IM and Olympic distance! Brilliant
  15. What I understand is that they will only sell through bike shop when exporting. Locally they will not use bike shops. I might be wrong but that is what I gather from their web site I spoke to the gents at PYGA to place an order but I think I will hold out till they can supply the painted frames. The black and white ones looks great. Does anyone know when they will start distributing the painted frames? How long does a line of ‘Limited Editions’ go on for?
  16. Anyone know why the results are'nt out yet?
  17. Does anyone know something about this fork? There is a seller on ebay that has these on offer but I can not find any info on the web. I can only find the RL & RLC. The seller is colorado cycles and seems to be legit but I am not very sure if even google can not get any info on it?
  18. Do you think its better to do this course or get a swimming coach?
  19. I breath every third stroke but I have noticed that a lot of long distance swimmers breath after every second or after each stroke. We have to remember that breathing while swimming is still breathing during exercise and as you swim you chase up you HR and you breathing should increase as well to get enough oxygen in the blood for a sustainable effort Many people have recommended getting a swimming coach so I guess that is what I am going to do. I want to do IM 2013 so I think it’s a good investment
  20. They look awesome!! Edit -> I do however think that the sprayed (black & white) one's will look better
  21. Jip, very nice event. Will do it again this year. And that local pub is a really great place to meet the local (and get a kudu steak)
  22. +100% Kinetic spint adventure race = 25km = R650
  23. I enter races for the route + experience only. I could not care less about the goodybag and medal at the end. So that is why I am very selective lately about the races. I want something to remember For example, the MTN Sabie was brutal and brilliant. I will pay for that route. The Nissan Hazeldean is flat and boring. I can do flat and boring anytime. I will not pay for flat and boring. That is why I think stage racing is worth the money. Most of the routes you never get to ride if you are not doing the event and you get a brilliant experience (including off the bike)
  24. What modifications are needed to cater for the X12 Syntace rear axle system? I am lookign at Hope 2 EVO hubs (6 bolt) with ZTR Crest rims
  25. I found this one on ebay. Will it work to adjust to 120mm? I dont really understand the difference between the two red blocks?
