  1. When is this? Is this for the race on the 7th & 8th of July? According to the e-mail I reseived there is only a 40km & 80km. The 80km is a two lapper of the 40km, but these profiles doesnt look like a two lapper. Is this a different race? Here is the link: http://www.asgevents.co.za/pages/events/raceSignUp.php?id=61
  2. Jip, I dont like it that much either but as you say, damage wont show that easy. Already spoke to Cycle Art today. A custom paint job (with some cool air brush) does sound very good. One of a kind.
  3. I hear that the OneTen will only be available in raw aluminium finish even though the images on the BLOG link on their site are of frames in black and white What are your opinions on raw aluminium finish? Anyone have an opinion on pro's and con's?
  4. I have also replaced some things on my bike and I think it is time for a refit. Can one recoomend a Ergofit agent in Pretoria/Centurion?
  5. The SIDI prices looks great, but how do you see if they have your size in stock?
  6. Jip, I will post the pics. But it is still a long wait. ETA is only in June.
  7. I think I am a bit (actually very) overoptimistic, but will it be broadcasted live? Or maybe with a delay if we are lucky?
  8. Thanks for all the info gents. @Hairy -> Spot on. The new machine is the PYGA OneTen29. @NINER_boy -> Thanks for the links
  9. I would really appreciate some opinions regarding a 29er fork with 120mm travel I am building my dream MTB bike. It going to be a beaut!! The reviews I have read and from what I gather here on the hub I have to fit a 120mm fork. I was planning on fitting a 110mm Lefty but I have contacted 4 stores and for some reason they don’t seem interested in taking my money. So I set my sights on a Reba but after some research I noted that they are only available up to 100mm of travel. The reviews that I read of the bike were done on a Revelation. I note they are available in 120mm travel. What fork can you recommend with 120mm of travel for a 29er? Will you rather go with the Revelation or a DT Swiss XMM 120 Single Shot. There aren’t many reviews on the web for these forks and I am not familiar with any of them so I am counting on the expertise of the hubbers.
  10. Good luck to all of your doing Iron Man. The hard work is now done (except for race day ). I hope to join all of you next year. Give it horns!!
  11. What did you peeps think of the race? I enjoyed the swim in the channel and the mtb ride was great (except for the first part where only the grass was cut). I took some strain on the run but running next to the dam was great. All and all a very good event but unfortunately the prize giving was a disaster. The race took the avg participant between 2hours and 2:30 hours but the prize giving took almost 2:45 to complete. I stayed to the end as my buddy got a podium in the full distance and I wanted to support him. I do however not blame all the other podium finishers that decided enough was enough and left before they received their prizes. I mean really? How can the organizers expect the people to stick around for that long? I will not stay to the end again. It was a great event; it’s just a shame that it was spoiled by some terrible organizing of the prize giving. Yes, the ATU award did make it longer than usual, but it was still very very bad (and frustratingly long). I have to compliment the route designers. It was a very big step up from the mtb route in Buffelspoort
  12. Thank you Kranswurm Please excuse my ignorance I read that the PYGA will be great for XC & marathons as well but won’t the trail geometry make you slower in these disciplines? I am not a racing snake at all (Sabie 75km between 5:30 & 6:00), so will the trail geometry make me even slower?
  13. I read on another topic that the OneTen is designed for a 120mm fork. Will fitting a 100mm Reba or a 110 Lefy really make that big a difference?
  14. Thank you all for your great input. If you didnt help I am not sure I would have been able to get a lefty on my bike. Thumbs up!
  15. Can someone please help with some info on the Cannondale Lefty? I know the Rock Shox range, but I want to fit a 110mm Lefty on a 29r frame with a tapered headtube. On Cannondale’s site they only have the following: • Lefty 29'er Carbon XLR - 90 or 100mm travel • Lefty 29'er Carbon PBR - 90 or 100mm travel • Lefty 29'er PBR - 90 or 100mm travel Do they still make the Lefty’s in 110mm? What bike shop can I contact for the prices and help regarding the Lefty’s I have contacted the 2 biggest online stores in SA and one LBS close to my house that I know sells Cannondale bikes for help, prices and guidance but it seems like they have better things to do than assist me. So I am hoping that all you tech gurus can help me please?
  16. Hey Tim. What is the cut-off time for the Ultra and after how many km's?
  17. I don’t think it is legit R22 500 ($2,970.00) for a Specialized S-Works Epic 29er 2011 is a bit farfetched. Be very careful here
  18. It looks a lot like the cycling-jerseys.net stuff. Just be careful of the sizing. I usually have to order one size up
  19. For those that are interested: I did this ride last weekend and I can recommend it if you are not set on doing a very technical ride. It is flat, fast en it seems to be safe. I think it can be a good training ride for a 70.3 or full ironman. You can do a lap or two in LL and then jump on the bike and do the 90km ride
  20. Thanks for the help gents. I was leaning towards the 4.5 and you just pushed me over the edge. @Eugene Yes, they are new. Check this website. They have the 2.1 on but not the 4.5 yet: http://www.thesportsbasement.co.za/
  21. OK, I am a mountain biker that sometimes run and swim (I had to get the MTB’r part in). Seeing that I am doing more and more triathlons I want to get a road bike. I have decided on either the Trek 2.1 or the Trek Madone 4.5. They are both spec’d exactly the same except that the 4.5 has a carbon frame and seat post. I took both of them for a spin today and I really like both but the 4.5 does feel a bit more responsive (that is a big word for a mtb’r without any roadie experience). I enjoyed climbing on both of them and most of the reviews on the net are very positive. I can get the 2.1 for 9K and the 4.5 for 15K. Now my question is if I should go for the 4.5, spend the 15K and ride as is, or go for the 2.1 and spend the extra 6K on a better wheelset? Will I actually get a good wheelset for 6K? Keep in mind that the bike will mostly be on a trainer in the winter, used for Olympic triathlons, hopefully the Ironman next year and do the odd Sunday ride.
  22. In the latest edition of Bicycling mag, they have a nice feature on 29 dualies in your price range. The rated the PYGA as no1, then the Spez and then the Giant. I think if you are going to spend that moola it is worth reading the comparisons I am going with the PYGA
  23. I hate those!!!! For some reason race organisers think that if you cut the grass really short it becomes a singletrack.
