  1. This is actually one of my biggest fears as well. A cracked frame on my newish well insured carbon disc brake bike and a bright spark at the insurance company that wants to fix it with a repair... Would love to hear your outcome at the end, - holding my thumbs
  2. So, on a high end road frame, the frame will still weights the same after the repair, and the repaired tube (seat stay for example) will still be hollow / same thickness on inside as before? I believe a good paint job on the outside will be good enough for most people. Last words before leaving the repair centre: "don't worry, the frame is actually stronger now, and won't break again on that specific place 🤫
  3. Maybe its only me, but I see a carbon framed that has been repaired in the same light as a code 3 second hand car... Second hand value takes a HUGE dip - and trying to sell it on Bikehub competing against unrepaired frames / bikes...eish good luck with this one. Insurances companies pushing their luck for cheaper options as times are tough ...but as mentioned that is a whole different topic on its own☹️
  4. Fun facts : 😎 105 is the reverse of 501, which came from Levi's Jeans, popular in the late 80s in Japan and matching the "workhorse reliable" nature of the 105. 105 reads as "SOI" or "501" when rotated 180 degrees. But SOI is not a Japanese nor English word, like Dura-Ace ( ***Duralumin alloy + Ace 'best') or Ultegra = ( ultimate" + Integrity) ***duralumin, strong, hard, lightweight alloy of aluminum, widely used in aircraft construction, discovered in 1906 and patented in 1909 by Alfred Wilm, a German metallurgist; it was originally made only at the company Dürener Metallwerke at Düren, Germany. (The name is a contraction of Dürener and aluminum.)
  5. 3.067kg smooth precise shifting on Suikerbossie
  6. The "grey area factors" that our mere mortals don't have access to measure accurately, will always improve... -aero -stiffness -comfort -steering sharpness - rolling resistance all measured in "seconds faster " and % on the other hand ..... is weight...easily measurable ..... This will be sugarcoated with marketing hype. ..."...at "x" speed ; "y" gradient the aero advantage outbalance the weight" Then some more marketing BS from internet influencers GCN paid promotions and many more ; internet jokers, with "real world tests". All of them have super human powers to ride at the same watts time and again and measure seconds differences 🤭 (but fun to watch if taken with a pinch of salt I admit) This new Madone looks awesome and I would purely buy it on looks, As I did with my current Madone🙃
  7. I have two bikes both running on Ultegra R8000 mechanical (one rim brake and other disc) Shifting is excellent👌
  8. wishful thinking what about exchange rate / import tax / supply demand shortages Coolheat?
  9. What is the cheapest new disc brake bike one can buy currently here ? - carbon frame - hydraulic brakes
  10. My guess is R43999 ? 👀 for the few sets Coolheat will bring us? 3067.7g - maybe weighted with the shortest possible crank / smallest chainrings , smallest cassette , shortest chain and no hydraulic hoses , no battery holder. I predict the rim brake market will be filled by new players to the groupset market, and Tiagra will go 11 speed soon - (still in rim brake) at R1800 shipped this 11 speed rim partial groupset even makes more sense now Senah
  11. But will this bike have Hambini's approval? 🙃
  12. struggled to upload picture - so deleted it for now as I don't want to post without a picture... ...my purchase glows in the dark... 😜
  13. Will try posting a pic of my Burner here. But it is so deep inside my wendy house - will be a mission to get it out! 👀
