  1. I preferred the prediction from 14 days ago regarding wind. Now I am a little stressed or depressed not sure which one as it seems that today's forecast is probably more accurate! Sun http://weather.news24.com/Images/Icons/Forecasts/2.gif More sun than clouds. Mild. 23°C 17°C 51km/h SE 65% 24°C Moderate * 5%
  2. Its down to 6 now! Not sure if all 6 are riding.
  3. I am sure this has been discussed before / last year. But here the question if the 2nd lap was half price, would more people who qualify, consider doing it twice? Or for most does it have nothing to do with money. Those who do it fast enough to qualify for a 2nd lap no doubt don't stop for drinks along the way the 1st time. Road closure has been paid for / sponsored for the allocated time regardless of how many laps one does.
  4. The long term weather for cast for the day shows: Sun, Mar 10 http://weather.news24.com/Images/Icons/Forecasts/1.gif Sunny. Mild. 28°C 19°C 25km/h SE 63% 29°C Moderate * 1% If this hold or the wind becomes less it should be nice day out on the bike.
  5. As I see you didn't win cycling is still thus missing out! Damm
  6. Has anyone looked at the new point allocation for 2019 - I see they dropped the banking link - Good! This seems to be new - Cash back up to 80 points on the Multiply online shop. How does one know if you chosen this correctly? Are the 10 points only allocated at the end of the month? When I look at my wallet I see I have money in a savings wallet. On the activity - like purchase at Pick 'n Pay it show Cashback and rewards.
  7. Don't often post on the Hub anymore - PPA ditching of The Giro del Capo - was the beginning of the end of the road funride calendar in the WC. Possible the start of the decline of the "goose that lays the Golden egg for PPA" now called the Cape Town Cycle Tour. Thus the event, WC road cycling should miss the most which formed part of the development of many TDF cyclist must be hands down the Giro del Capo!
  8. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/siutsou-tests-positive-for-epo-in-out-of-competition-test/
  9. On this topic what I would regard as a step forward is that for the past few years "non whites" have been winning the event. I don't really like talking color of skin - but I did not bring it up.
  10. The 7000 figure was given to me by the ex chairman of PPA on day 1 of number collection. I know of a few people who were still allowed to enter post that date and substitution were still been allowed on that weekend. One may find that the drop off rate was not that bad this year and most entries started. The number of out of towner entering was where the drop in entries was felt. Thus the No show shows on the day was probably a lot lower than normal considering the weather on the day. Another stat which would be nice to know is how many people entered but did not collect numbers / have substitutions.
  11. Agree to disagreed - both those 200 odd cyclist and the 35000 go hand in hand. This year there was no live TV coverage. Many people have asked me about this - what all these people we wanting to watch was the "race"- top 200 cyclist. Many people have said to me this years Cycle tour have no "Atmosphere"- referring to the event and the lack of spectator etc. All of these cyclist who were in the 4 hour range. They have also said to me this is the last cycle tour they will be doing. This year cycle tour was about 7000 down on entry. All I will say is it is the holistic approach of not only satisfying then funrider but also the "pro" cyclist that will see this event continue in its masses in years to come, they go hand in hand!
  12. One of the few, if not only true mass participation funrides I have ever done (only once need to go back) is Moonlight mass. No timing and a true funride!
  13. This news is very sad. Rip Jeremy and the other cyclist(s).
  14. Got some emails from broker today - hope all is sorted by the end of next week! Dear Colleagues Horses were traded for cars and CDs for MP3 players; with evolution comes improvements. The Momentum wellness solution and Healthy Heart Score (HHS) are no exception to this rule. The revised HHS, as implemented in 2018, more accurately reflects a member’s health risk. It is also preventative in that it shows, before an unexpected health event occurs, if they are presently causing damage to their health. While all values above the acceptable range can indicate a potential health risk, values below the acceptable range also carry various health risks. The 2018 HHS The HHS is calculated using: Blood pressure Total cholesterol Glucose Smoking status (Estimated) body fat percentage. This is calculated using waist circumference, weight, height, age and gender and gives an indication if a member’s body fat is within an acceptable range. We have listened to your concerns Based on your feedback, we are pleased to confirm that members who score low values on any of the parameters of the HHS will no longer be scored negatively. Instead, such members will be advised on lifestyle changes they should make to improve these values. When will it be implemented? In the middle of March 2018, all existing members’ HHS will be recalculated in view of the above. At the same time, we will recalculate the product rewards and Multiply points retrospectively. We will soon be communicating to affected members to inform them of this change and how it will affect them. Attached for your easy reference is a list of some of the questions (and the answers to them) about the HHS change that clients may ask. We will be communicating this message to financial planners and advisers as well. 15. Raining at my house at close to road work in Lakeside - but I sure this will pass by Sunday! Sun http://weather.news24.com/Images/Icons/Forecasts/2.gif More sun than clouds. Cool. 22°C 17°C 23km/h S 73% 23°C Moderate 0mm 6%
  16. It is out of the Cycle tours and PPA hands - what happens on the day happens and the police make that final call. They do have road permission and insurance for all of the "6" possible routes - which was not the case last year.
  17. You should see a pic in this tread - what I am quite supersized about is they have done away with their own Cycle tour mag (I did not get 1 in the post) and not in goodie bay. I also bumped into a recent Ex Chairman of PPA and thing are not as hopeful as he would have liked for a 109km event.
  18. Not to mention the point system! Under Be safer max 150 points: Have a safe day up to 80 points Know you safety score up to 50 points Complete the safety score questionnaire online up to 20 points Limited time only!! Safe Days Activation up to was 80 point its been reduced to just 10 points this week. Changing the rules of a game after the game has started - does not sit well with me Under be Healthier up to 200 points: Know your healthy heart score up to 100 points but f you don't score 100 point here you cannot get 200 points on this section and with there current cholesterol levels not been in line with with world heath organizations - not easy to get more than 60 points if your cholesterol is low (a good thing). Complete the physical heath and activity questionnaire online up to 20 points. The next 2 indicate a max of 160 point but the truth is its a 80! Go for a Fitness assessment up to 80 point Have an active day up to 80 point. On the be on top of your finances: New! track how you spend your money - this requires you banking details and password - that crossed the line for me. Knowing how their safe Dayz app is working who is to say this app will not be hacked and your bank account possibly hacked!
  19. For those of us living in CT - the wind has been pumping since Saturday afternoon - but the extremely good news is that it seems to have "lost its legs" by this Sunday - even the site I go to now show far less wind and ZERO rain. Sun http://weather.news24.com/Images/Icons/Forecasts/4.gif Morning clouds. Cool. 20°C 15°C 23km/h W 69% 20°C High 0mm 3%
  20. I also got to that point and I can confirm the Photo is not lying / photo shopped. The pic is clear and the trees are not moving in it! In really life they were not moving to much either.
  21. For us fair weather cyclists the weather man has taken a turn to the worse for cycling next Sunday, but the 6mm drizzle will be a help for the western Cape. Wind also looking not so good. Sun http://weather.news24.com/Images/Icons/Forecasts/18.gif Drizzle. Partly cloudy. Cool. 18°C 16°C 36km/h S 71% 18°C Moderate 6mm 36%
  22. Better predictions compared with yesterday: Sun, Mar 11 http://weather.news24.com/Images/Icons/Forecasts/18.gif Sprinkles early. Mostly sunny. Cool. 22°C 17°C 17km/h W 58% 25°C Low 1mm 27%
  23. I asked my financial advisor to look for a different insurer yesterday - I believe in talking with my wallet. New program is a shadow of what it use to be.
  24. Update on weather - not the best news but still 10 days for the weather person to change their mind. Not really enough rain to even water the garden but enough for slippery roads. Sun, Mar 11 http://weather.news24.com/Images/Icons/Forecasts/18.gif Drizzle. Clearing skies. Warm. 29°C 16°C 34km/h NW 82% 36°C Low 2mm 41%
