  2. Sorry I am - after a 140km bike ride and a Sunday!
  3. I have a 55cm (centre to centre) ti road frame / bike for you currently built with new 105 and Fulcrum 5 wheels R1400 - just frame and fork R7000. All brand new! email me on icycling1@gmail.com currently at a bike shop so cannot take pics right now
  4. Nope the guidance of wise men and fools to follow! haha
  5. Today I became an anarchist - not sure if thats even a word! I went for a 140km ride - stopped at all the robots etc, but then when riding on the road where there was a yellow line after a few cars hooted and waived at me indicating I should ride in the yellow line - I agreed with them - even though this is completely illegal. But for my own safety and for consideration of fellow road uses I decide it was best - thus I am an anarchist according to some I have further degraded the society we live in by breaking the law! Not sure how the law would help me if hit from behind at 120km/h and I was dead. As I mentioned in previous post I do believe laws should be updated and to what the current situation is on our road - but while they have not well we breaking them. Funny how motorist don't mind if we break the law to help with the flow of traffic by riding in the yellow line - but all hell will break lose if we go through a red robot - which really did not endanger anyone (but by stopping all the time our personnel heath is affected esp if in a rain storms as our "engines" get cold which may result in getting sick - swine flu kills) so I come to the conclusion what ever a cyclist does will be wrong in a motorist eyes - even if the motorist at the time is overtaking on a solid white line with a cell phone in the one ear / hand and doing makeup with the other hand! Been riding for 30 years now on SA road so please don't think I am not a responsible cyclist - years of experience allows myself to judge a situation as to what is best for me without physically injuring anyone! Yup today 5h30 - 30 year on the road - many hour on the road relatively safely.
  6. If you train far (time riding) enough you don't suffer from this syndrome - your feet get use to the pressure - but probably most of us don't train far enough!!!
  7. Try tee tree oil (net may burn in a bit sometimes found sold in a % oil solution) seems to work for everything or anthisan
  8. 1 metre 56 and weigh 162 kgs If these are you stats - it a pity you at the back as you would offer slip steam for 2 cyclists on the drops!
  9. 105 from Icycling - the new stuff 5700 (gear cable to handlebar) R4750.00. Oh and the new 2011 Campy super record now also in stock at R16 500.00
  10. They are were all new the R12 500 were aluminum, Carbon / TI R14 500 and the R19k would be full carbon. When you say you a 54cm is that measured from centre of BB to Centre of top tube or centre of BB to top - standard or compact geometry?
  11. What size? I have put a few bikes together with new 105 - gear cables to handlebars and Mavic elite wheels with GP4000 and Ritchey accessories from R12 500.00. Not 2 many frames left.
  12. I am about to put a special on GP4000 at R3..,00 send email to icycling1@gmail.com I only have black GP 4000!
  13. Thanks for the very kind words - I always try and do my job properly!
  14. I have Xt wheels in stock - new R2900. So for a few hundred rand I decided not to bring MT65 anymore!
  15. Look is very easy to point fingers - and I do my fair share of this but ... On the track to me their was 1 outstanding rider at Commonwealth games (I have not seen all the events) a 22 year AUS who managed to lap the field 3 times in the point race etc. I was at SA track champs and yes we have the talent of that I am sure! To a degree I feel Commonwealth games (maybe Olympics also) - and yes their should be no hard and fast rule - should be from SA point of view for rider who are hungry - probably the younger riders who have not been exposed to the international stage, but this is their opportunity. The riders who have a need to prove themselves! Did any of the riders at this years commonwealth games need to prove themselves and if so for what? The riders on the road were all basically tired from a long hard PRO season - some probably did not even really want to be their. But would rather be resting for next years season where again at moments in time they will more than Likely do SA proud. Does the CSA strategy suck - I am not sure. For sure the riders have done SA proud at other event - probably the problem is the depth to which CSA is looking and that is even at U23 level. We cant just have less than 10 riders at world class level - we need like 20. Some may go for Europe for 3 to 6 month stints while others may stay at home and do some serious TT training for once off event like worlds and Commonwealth games. I use the TT as an example as it is an event which you can train for on home turf to international level - and even the likes of David George and James Perry have proven that!! Possibly the other problem is how this country best cyclist have all been taken by JHB based cycling teams - progressively reducing the standards on the other provinces - it their an answer to this maybe and that would be if you U23 and you sign with a top local team you not legible to rep RSA in the U23 cat sort of like at world's level Pro's cannot race U23 races - I know I will get a lot of flake for even suggesting this and then how to determine which teams are really the local pro teams! This is not a dig at the local pro teams they do a lot for RSA cycling and RSA cycling needs them too! So I have not answered any off the questions but maybe some of the ideas may be worth looking at!
  16. Topwine - unfortunately PPA cannot please all the people all the time. I for one don't use my transponder when I am not fit to make my time is not displayed! Their is nothing that PPA can do about that at this moment in time which means your comparison against the whole field may always be in accurate.
  17. Nothingness - it seems we both enjoy the finer things in life! The campy cork screw! My post in this topic yesterday! https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/85838-r1500-for-a-campy-chain-breaker/page__st__20__gopid__1181178#entry1181178
  18. here som pics of the fab cork screw! https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/59917-best-birthday-present-ever/page__p__904997#entry904997
  19. Coenie - it is something that the PPA funrides does not offer at this moment in time but maybe some day they will. From what I have seen posted is if you join PPA your previous results will be shown if I have read this thread correctly - I thinks that pretty generous of PPA if that the case - this could be likened to your option to pay more for a temp number - which just then becomes a permanent seeded number and allows you to ride in groups of similar ability! I have work to do now!
  20. paarlmtb - to not shut the door on new cyclist - but yes to get all the benefits you need to be a members. This may be a very bad comparison but here goes: 1. I by an alarm system for my house and it cost say R2000 from Home alarms - lets call this your chip! 2. It has a siren which goes off - lets call this the beep as you pass over the mats 3. Armed response will only come out if I pay a monthly service fee which could be from ADT (R313 montly) and not Home alarms as I linked the alarm to ADT. So lets call these your result and for a PPA event you need to pay PPA membership fee for these result. As I said it may be a bad example but it is how business works!
  21. Coenie - I don't believe their a problem for PPA event only offering timing to PPA members. PPA / the PPA event organizers pay the timing company to come and do the timing it not for free and it is a benefit to PPA members! CSA does not the timing company for PPA event!
  22. Paarlmtb your 1st statement is 100% correct and yes that is why I am still sit on PPA - if I look to how many cyclist competed at SA track champs this past weekend or SA road champs - if cycling for the masses was left to the old SACF / CSA the market would probably not even be a 10th of the size! I think by my other committee members I am regards as the "black Sheep" as I voice my concern on how much money PPA is saving and NOT investing in cycling and our events - be it the Giro del Capo or not taking the timing system to the next level and using it as an entry system too. But the counter argument is at least PPA has a healthy set of book, unlike a lot of sports bodies all around the world! So maybe I should have started this tread about been frustrated!
  23. Coenie - if the name mentioned earlier in the tread was the person, she has been spoken to many occasions. But as PPA committee members are not heartless we still allow her at our event, possibly research the individual, then tell me how you would feel about basically putting a gun to somebodies head. As a voluteer on a committee I really do not want that on my conscience!
  24. Maybe this will help answers the question on where the money goes. http://www.pedalpower.co.za/AboutPPA/PPAProjects/tabid/74/Default.aspx If you don't like it then why did you not go to the AGM and complain? At the AGM only 4 people were will to stand out of a possible 6 place? Why don't you volunteer? I put my nomination form in before I left RSA but gave strict instruction if their were another 6 people will to stand please remove my nomination form from the pile. You guys seem to want to complain without actually doing anything about it - that includes just even going to an AGM. I feel it quite disgraceful on the members part that I am even still on the committee considering I have not attend an AGM for about 6 years now - but the power is in the hands of the members!
  25. Nobody - Coenie if you are implying that PPA has ever paid a ticket to Euro bike for any of the committee members or myself you are sorely mistaken. My business is in the bike business and for business reasons I need to go to Euro bike much like CWC and other bike industry players. I realize for most people it hard to understand why you would volunteer for a task - but their are some who do. Yup I am meant to receive a Honoria of a few thousand rand each year, the numbers are reported at the AGM, but I choose to have this paid to WED night Killarney so I have no to know what the number is!
