  1. Glad cyclist is OK. If the motorist was overtaking on a solid white line - then it not a mistake - it is against the law and must be reported. Don't know exactly where this was but most of that road has a solid white line My 2c worth
  2. Spinergy - no weight limit - spokes 6 to 8 times stronger than steel! www.spinergy.com
  3. Lucky - wish I was getting this right!
  4. If you want the pothole fixed log a claim - normally the repair will happen within a week - that's CPT. My dad use to in the 80ies and always got paid out with a pothole repair!
  5. Yup I actually just slipped up in not increasing her monthly wage. As I am self employed and work alone increase happen as they happen and not structured. The 14th cheque was an adhok way to correct this - fortunately I do believe my domestic can manage money as she is a qualified teacher! She also has managed to save enough money for 2 years in a row to go overseas.
  6. What do most of you do with domestic worker? Do you give them 13th cheques? Last month I paid my domestic work a 13th and a 14th cheque as I did not give her a raise this year - is that been fair?
  7. Noted the link to GP Patton in this thread (https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/105327-grand-prix-general-patton-2011/page__hl__patton) - yup another race where Oliver was the best out of the SA riders - and Yes he does have a long way to go before he is competitive against the best of the best in the world! But Rome was not built in 1 day. This was his 1st International tour and as a 1st year Junior he coped. SA Riders: 49. 82 RSA 19940614 STAPLETON-COTTON Oliver SOUTH AFRICA 67. 80 RSA 19930406 PATTEN Kevin SOUTH AFRICA 74. 79 RSA 19930108 FOURIE James SOUTH AFRICA
  8. At the time: With 15000 members did not want to lose it autonomy by basically becoming a club which would then join WP! PPA probably would have not joined and SACF would still exist! In any marriage their are terms and conditions! I was not at the meeting so I really do not know what SASCOC is referring too.
  9. Hubbers - when SACF and PPA came together to form CSA their should not be 1 vote per person as PPA would have 15000 votes and would basically run the show! A system was created to the Max number of votes was / is 15! So with 17 500 members PPA get 15 votes, WP with 500 members also get 15 votes. Some of the small provinces only get 10 votes etc Maybe it is time for change - but I don't think it will happen quickly!
  10. Well as a member of the PPA EXCO who fought for the Giro to continue into its 19th year - it was killed by now ONLY 1 Cell C Tour of RSA - actually this is what a number of EXCO members expected - that this Tour may only last 1 year - damage done!!!
  11. "arguably the best best Junior in RSA" You come across as having a chip on your shoulder! Kallen (PE - also 1st year junior) could argue that he is a better rider 3rd at SA 1 st 1st year - but he is focusing on the track - well has been this year. So he does not have that many road results and as far as I know has not ridden any tour! Oliver finish 4th at SA's and has been focusing on the road therefore more result - and good ones at that! Teams are made of several individuals!
  12. Try Oliver cotton - he still is junior next year! But if you look at the international results from the riders who raced in Europe this year, he performed best by result in all but 1 off the events! Also won the tour de boland and the recent tour in the free state - juniors.
  13. Um 2013 - quite sometime away considering the age of the riders! Be that as it may what are the goals of the team - regional, National or International? I currently coach arguably the best best Junior in RSA (1st year junior 2011 2nd year junior 2012). If you looking for International for 2013 I sure their would be merit in a meeting!
  14. You need to be a paid up member. Full out a nomination form and get seconded by a paid up member. Go to the A g m - if their more than 6 nomination (I think) then their will be a vote by the members present at the a g m.
  15. We need more road riders on the PPA committee - please road riders get your nominations in for the AGM (within the next 2 week) the committee really need roadies - must admit - female committee members would even be better currently no females or people of colour on the committee! If you wanna complain get involved - this is your perfect opportunity.
  16. Is it not true that the rules of the road state that when 1 vehicle overtakes another vehicle they should do in a separate lane and also not on a solid barrier line? Now cyclist are classified as vehicles - so surely motorist should also obey the rules and indicate when over taking and do this in a separate lane. Just because probably about 99% of the time cyclist are so considerate to other road users by keeping left and thus not disrupting traffic flow it still does not make other motorist legal to pass in the same lane! If you 1 or 4 cyclist abreast by law it should not really matter to an overtaking motorist - if that motorist is obeying the law themselves and indicating to overtake and doing it in a separate lane.
  17. ThaStig - don't give my circuit away - been using it for year, don't want to many others using it. Was going to take a rider but it is too cold!
  18. I have sold some items today (people collected) - so I guess I am open!
  19. RIP I heard their was an accident on Suikerbossie going toward Camps bay at about 16h30 today - a cyclist was apparently covered - anyone know if this is the same accident?

  22. 28th this year, I think, cannot seem to access the VIP log on the cycle tour page best time 2:27.17 -1994, 2:28.27 - 1995 and 2 I think another 2:29.44 - 1991.
  23. I prefer the law as I understand it to be right now and that is overtaking in separate lane - I not sure I buy into the 1.5m gap! I hope they try and enforce it esp on Boy's drive and make sure that cars also obey the solid line rule. Currently cyclist are been fined for going down main road the wrong way which is as ridiculous!!
  24. Spinergy Xaero Lite R4995 Spinergy Stealth R7500 but over the weight you want but strong as hell!
  25. The same rule that make it illegal for cyclist to ride 2 a breast is the the same for the motorist - The rule is when 1 vehicles overtake another it must be done in a separate lane! Thus for a motorist to overtake cyclist in the same lane - which happens all the time in RSA is just as illegal as for cyclists to ride 2 abreast. My questions is why if motorist are driving properly is it a problem if cyclist are all to the left of the centre line? The motorist legally still has to turn the steering wheel the same to over take 1 or 4 legally! By riding 4 abreast are cyclist not just keeping motorist honest / legal? Just my question - also the motorist should be using the indicators and not doing this on a solid white line! As for the yellow line unless marked as a cycle lane it is also illegal for cyclist to ride inside the lane - yup we do and do it normally as we are been considerate to other road uses but it is still illegal - so sometime and certainly when it suits motorist - rules are for the guidance of wise men and for fools to follow!
