  1. Hill climb! Only a few can win. So why have it so far out, what about the green house gasses? If PPA / WPCA has a Hill climb surely it need to be close enough to both southern and northern sub! So what PPA / WPCA has offered fits this. Guys you complain about a R35 rand CSA levy but you prepared to spend how much on getting an event - not to mention your carbon foot print.
  2. Page 24 of this thread I said Froom - I will still stick by this. Wiggins no doubt will still have a bad day!
  3. Froom - by the end of week 2 he will be the team leader! Maybe reallity or wishfull thinking.
  4. Armstong - Isn't Dr Ferrari a Chiro too? I am just not sure if he only beleives in Dry-needling!

    WPCA TTT

Race was great - would be nice to do some individual TT as well! Well done to the WP road We / Marties had a potentially very dangerous incident when turning onto the Kilpheuwel road last 10km think the the marshal had waved us thought but we came onto the road with a car doing about 120km/h (same direction) - fortunately we managed to tighten up into the yellow line - maybe the marshal did not realize the speed that both parties were doing!
  6. Not to detract from this topic and Gert's recovery 1 more correction - going from Hout bay towards Noordhoek speed limits: 40km/h at the bottom Hout bay side 20km/h from about 1.2km up just before the sharp left turn - and PPA singage saying cyclist keep left ride single file - position of PPA singage? I have asked for it to be taken down! A lot of cyclist are doing 20km/h in this zone. 20 km/h till about 2km/h after the current toll gate 40km/h from that point till toll man at top 20km/h from their for the next 2km/h - well thats what the signage says How much money could be made by putting a speeding camera up on Campmans peak? doing 40km/h in a 20km/h zone, the fine would be no diffrent to doing 240km/h in 120km/h zone from my understanding it is caculated as a % over the speed limit!
  7. It seems to have been Gert Wilkins farther of Travys Wilkins - this is what is on his facebook page! This is what happens when motorist are negligent and forget that they are not the only ones using the roads. Today my father got taken out on chappies - thankfully he is fine and has just been discharged from hospital, but this is a lucky case and unfortunately there have been others that have not been as lucky! I Pray for softness and patience in motorists attitudes towards cyclists and vice versa! Be safe out there — with Gert Wilkins.
  8. Yup have not missed one but also dont know why that makes me a robot - Hey I have not missed Xmas too. Lets face it the 2nd weekend of March is Xmas for cyclist in RSA! Except the one year when it was the 1st weeekend of March for the cricket world cup. http://results.cycle...?PID=4925&SID=1
  9. That was fit not fir! Don't believe in power meters - I have not even used a Heart rate monitor since about 1994 Analysis leads to Paralysis!
  10. I recently (over 14 months - still aiming for 75kg by Nov - same weight as what I left school at) dropped 15 kg from like 93 kg to 78 kg - huge diffrence. So now at almost 40 years of age just 3 week ago I could win an elite CAT 1 race in WP - making it a bit more impressive was that Darren Lill was 2nd not to mention 3rd and 4 th sport were top riders from the WP who are / have raced overseas in the past year. The race was a crit with 4 tight corners - so acceleration was important out of the corners - weight makes a huge difference their too. I also now train on route with climbs instead of looking for flatter ride - climbing is so much more fun! I would say I have always been quite fir having done 29 Cycle tours of which 20 in under 3hrs and 3 in under 2h30!
  11. Where exatly is Slent road - I cannot seem to find it on google maps? Maybe driving directions to the start please.
  12. Robert Hunter with the national jersey 2nd on GC and 4th in stage - well done
  13. Darren Lill getting lots of Slip off my back wheel!
  14. DMC007 - I think me winning was abit more impressive! hahaha
  15. Now that a good animation - just imagine a couple of policemen of Chapmans peak which has a maximum speed limit of 40km/h and a lot of the time only 20km/h not to mention the solid white line most of the way up from Noordhoek side - R1000 per wheel for cross a solid white line - possible the revenue they would collect could build a quite a few houses for the poor so they don't have to steel from the not so poor!
  16. Glad cyclist is OK. If the motorist was overtaking on a solid white line - then it not a mistake - it is against the law and must be reported. Don't know exactly where this was but most of that road has a solid white line My 2c worth
  17. Spinergy - no weight limit - spokes 6 to 8 times stronger than steel! www.spinergy.com
  18. Lucky - wish I was getting this right!
  19. If you want the pothole fixed log a claim - normally the repair will happen within a week - that's CPT. My dad use to in the 80ies and always got paid out with a pothole repair!
  20. Yup I actually just slipped up in not increasing her monthly wage. As I am self employed and work alone increase happen as they happen and not structured. The 14th cheque was an adhok way to correct this - fortunately I do believe my domestic can manage money as she is a qualified teacher! She also has managed to save enough money for 2 years in a row to go overseas.
  21. What do most of you do with domestic worker? Do you give them 13th cheques? Last month I paid my domestic work a 13th and a 14th cheque as I did not give her a raise this year - is that been fair?
  22. Noted the link to GP Patton in this thread (https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/105327-grand-prix-general-patton-2011/page__hl__patton) - yup another race where Oliver was the best out of the SA riders - and Yes he does have a long way to go before he is competitive against the best of the best in the world! But Rome was not built in 1 day. This was his 1st International tour and as a 1st year Junior he coped. SA Riders: 49. 82 RSA 19940614 STAPLETON-COTTON Oliver SOUTH AFRICA 67. 80 RSA 19930406 PATTEN Kevin SOUTH AFRICA 74. 79 RSA 19930108 FOURIE James SOUTH AFRICA
  23. At the time: With 15000 members did not want to lose it autonomy by basically becoming a club which would then join WP! PPA probably would have not joined and SACF would still exist! In any marriage their are terms and conditions! I was not at the meeting so I really do not know what SASCOC is referring too.
  24. Hubbers - when SACF and PPA came together to form CSA their should not be 1 vote per person as PPA would have 15000 votes and would basically run the show! A system was created to the Max number of votes was / is 15! So with 17 500 members PPA get 15 votes, WP with 500 members also get 15 votes. Some of the small provinces only get 10 votes etc Maybe it is time for change - but I don't think it will happen quickly!
  25. Well as a member of the PPA EXCO who fought for the Giro to continue into its 19th year - it was killed by now ONLY 1 Cell C Tour of RSA - actually this is what a number of EXCO members expected - that this Tour may only last 1 year - damage done!!!
