  1. I got mine today and it was B so really happy. But.... Their always need to be 1 But and mine is it is not B 1!! We as committee members always use to get the number 1 of the seeded numbers Cat you qualified for - so even this perk has gone!!! B 1 has such a nice ring to it - their can only BE ONE (B1)!!! So who ever get's B1 do you mind swoping - naturally I will have the swop done correctly in the office!
  2. Raymond! This pics is so porno... You should have come to the VIP Garmin after party in Paris - you miss out big time. At least you made Durban this past weekend.
  3. Cassie - can I leave you to do the nomination etc - closses 5 working days before the AGM? Reason been I am overseas at the time of the AGM and they may ask for the person who has nominated people also to be present.
  4. Frail - are you currently still a paid up member for PPA? Please send me your details as I want to nominate you for the committee - AGM is 1st week of next month!
  5. Find a sponsor and the Tour can happen! For an event like the TDF in RSA you need at least R2 million from the main sponsor with some smaller sponsors also. All accommodation and airfares needs to be paid for all the rider and R2 million would be the bear minimum! By the way next year is not looking G8 as even the Giro del Capo may not happen! Paul has been to RSA and Phil comes often but they have to try and say that France is a better place but they actually do know better!
  6. 18th August I was told!
  7. Andy won the stage when he could go with Alberto's final attack about 3Km before the line.
  8. Um If I recall after Ullrich waited for Lance, Lance attacked that same stage - so at least the pro's have learn't from mistakes of other pro's - don't kick a gift horse in the mouth! But Andy started a poker game yesterday - he admitted to that! Possible a stupid poker player as he may have ridden himself into 3rd on GC by the end of the tour as the riders who made time on him yesterday can TT well! Today he was the Big blind - and yes was dealt a **** hand but you cant win all hands at poker - he did will to stay the 2nd highest stack at the final table Looking at the guys Contador was with at the top of the climb and considering he was not doing match sprinting tactics with Andy HE did WAIT but could not let the other go! Think about that guys. He certainly did not do all the driving down the climb! Hey the "final table" are known to be worse on climbs as Contador! What did Andy teammate Spartikus say about cobbles and crashing? Well believe me you expect riders to get dropped on climbs like that!
  9. And what about match fixing - well now we know it does not exist in cycling!!! Or do we?
  10. From what I saw Contador was riding back to Andy. Then Andy made a basic error of changing gear under pressure. Why must Contador now lose his rhythm to wait for Andy's error? Yes if he had he would have been considers a gentleman - but lets see if it actually make any difference on by Sunday! But he certainly was not attacking the yellow jersey - he just did not slam on brakes to wait! Looking at the guys Contador was with at the top of the climb and considering he was not doing match sprinting tactics with Andy he did wait but could not let the other go! Think about that guys. He certainly did not do all the driving down the climb!
  11. Gongmech - From the Koeberg interchange all the way into Cape Town the N1 is no longer a freeway and is a 80km/h zone and cyclist are allowed on this stretch of road. The 2nd way but does require a short stretch of legal N1 is to use the harbour bridge which has less congestion
  12. it does look Ok for now
  13. I have the same problem!
  14. Ultegra from myself is over R1000 cheaper! I have ridden Shimnao Dura Ace for 18 years and this year I changed to Sram red and I must admit I am still in 2 minds as to weather it was the correct decision. I have not used Campy for many years but I know the running cost with the 11 speed chain are higher!
  15. I have heard people say why not start our own version of CRC in RSA / a local link to CRC! Has anyone consider how much it would cost to do this? Anyone got he buck to do it on the hub? I happy to partner with a financial partner - most of the times my prices are far better than CRC price but I also only have so much money to play with (over R2million)! Even thought my supply chain is excellent! If you have money that you want to invest email me icycling1@gmail.com.
  16. I have had none - the bigger problem I had was from website developer / consumers - as when we started (the now dead website) in 2003. It was still very new to the industry in RSA. Thus the reason for the web site failing! But with a site like this is a web site still necessary or just extra expensive? I advertise now what I have in stock via this site to the public and it seems to work well! It actually been quite fun (for me that is) been the thorn in the side of the bigger importer and tacking the gaps over the years as they have opened either due to their lack of stock by the agents side or over pricing.
  17. All I going to say Icycling has stayed completely out of this and as an importer wholesaler and retailer with some of the most aggressive pricing in the world - it should not surprise you! But as I have kept my overheads low - working from home, not offering credit or consignment stock etc for the 21 years I been in the business - these aggressive prices are here to stay!
  18. * partnership with Raleigh or who-ever to manufacture/promote and sell/handout millions of beginner basic bicycles - for commuting. Well I spent my morning and last Friday before 2010 starting explaining how to build wheels - need 2000 built for bike that's came into RSA for the - California bikes - for commuting purposes, you may have seen these bikes - they those yellow bikes used for commuting purposes. Unfortunately the wheels have been built wrong and need to be re-built and thus I was training people. The bikes in the future will also be completely assembled here to create extra employment! As I write this in my private capacity, but should it surprise all you "commentator" that I am on the PPA committee? There has been no formal discussion on financial reward for this training - not even remunerations for transport costs - that's what PPA committee members do in the name of cycling (even if it is a private company who organize this project)! It would appear it would, but as only PPA committee members know what work goes on behind the scenes for what appear to be unappreciative cyclist! I have been on the PPA committee for more than 14 years with a years brake somewhere along the line. The only finical remunerations that is offer to me by PPA I give to Wednesday night racing at Killarny - don't know what it is and don't really care! But as I don't think I will stand for the committee again at the next AGM - should it surprise you guys that I have not even been at an AGM for about 3 years now (Clashes with Euro bike trade show which I need to attend) - no why probably because you guys did not go either! David you are more than welcome to take my place on PPA ECO - I will not be there this year if it happens on 2nd September as planed (even if I should stand), as again I will be at Euro bike show if my plans are kept! So if it goes to the vote their NO hard feeling from my side! When last did it go to the vote? Why not, not enough "commentator" willing to stand!
  19. To be completely accurate my invoice date was the 26/05/2010 and payment was made 29/05/2010. I do have a problem with 3 days esp. as their was no follow up phone call!
  20. I heed your warring - but I must admit as a supplier to him on only a few occasions, one as recently as this month, I have experienced the complete opposite. In fact earlier this month I drop of some spares, I left them with his assistant with the invoice, and wondered will I have to make a phone call for payment - that same week the money was in my account without any follow up phone call. So I must admit my experience is somewhat different to yours. Have you invoiced correctly and according to your quotes are you statements up to date and accurate?
  21. member - sorry
  22. PPA - What do they Do? So the club has given just one of many answers - PPA negotiated for all riders in the province a better levy to the national cycling body CSA! But Frail their are so many more! I write this in my private capacity and not as a PPA memeber!
  23. I will have XT wheels again by the end of May for about R3000.00
  24. So with 40km to go they cut the transmission and put on soccer!!! DSTV or BSTV?
  25. Try getting the stuff from CWC or myself maybe even your LBS 1st then at last resort take the business out of RSA
