  1. Sorry I noticed now you from Roodepoort - no comment!
  2. FowlStArt - I sure you question were answered at the AGM last month - my excuse for not been at the AGM for the past number of year is it clashed with Euro Bike so I am in Germany. Do you have a reason for not been at the AGM assuming you were not their?
  3. I have a Champy cork screw about R1500 and yes you can buy a cork screw for R20 - but the champy 1 is so impressive! Even given a few away as wedding presents - possible the corks screw is the best item champy makes.
  4. Exactly! Not to mention with a PPA membership you get your seeded numbers so you can start in the group you qualify for!
  5. Mads - thats basically correct and as it a PPA seeding index surely it should be for PPA members?
  6. Just join PPA if you a rider who does not want to ride SA road champs or major tours. Your PPA membership includes licence fees and you do not need to be a members of a club! PPA has Family memberships too.
  7. Coenie - I was not their this past weekend but: 1. PPA does have staff but only a handful and I can assure you most do not go ever weekend to the funrides. 2. Then PPA has funride teams who go out on the weekend who do get paid. 3. Then PPA has PPA Marshals - who are basically volunteers who help our funride teams at the funrides - these are unpaid and by the name mentioned (shes been with PPA even longer than me) in the tread the a marshals may have been rude - very hard to discipline a volunteer and yes PPA is running out of Marshals. Believe me the funride would function a lot worse without the PPA marshals - they normally organise all the start and for that they get to start at the back! 4. Then without the funride organizers - who basically do 1 funride each year - their would be hardly any funrides, yup these people normally fall under Rotary or Lions clubs and that why entries are their to help their causes! But why not go to JHB and pay 3 times the entry for a promoter to pocket?
  8. Edge_Design - I have done 27 ACT (3 in under 2h30min) and been a PPA member for 28 years. I also still sit on PPA committee (for 15 years)only because their are not enough people who are willing to be on the committee - we are currently 10 and we meant to be 12! What ever money I get from PPA I give to Wed night Killarney plus other sponsorship. So my fellow hubbers instead of bitching - get involved - or are you all just takers?
  9. Agreed with caad4 - I am sure he was with them for 2010 also. But still Congratulations dude!
  10. And the riders who beat them and who they beat were not? Probaly on far better juice!!!!
  11. Matie - not sure who your comment was directed at - but I am about to climb on the podium at Sa track champs currently under way for a medal!
  12. Willie Engelbrecht - Bronze at commonwealth games road race JP van Zyl - Kerin medalist David George - 3rd world U23 TT champs James Perry - 3rd world U23 TT champs Unfortunately this was all back in the 90ies and just out of isolation. These guys new how to train and trained in RSA to race at world level! David George know how to train and choses his race to race in and train to that level. What I am saying is not all riders are the same - so for some maybe been based in Europe is the answer, but for other been trained correctly at home has also worked as well if not better!
  13. I still have a few sets in stock - as mentioned above for R2900 - but the stock is going down quite fast. 4 sets sold this morning and it is only 9:28!
  14. Nope the Argus is a protest ride and thus the use of the Freeway !!! Or maybe was in 1978! Now car are not allowed to use that road on the 2nd Sunday of march each year - so maybe the wheel is turning slowly! I don't normally use the M3 for training as it is so barring and Illegal, but when I do I feel safer than on the main road due to the nice wide shoulder - maybe the laws should change quicker that every day in a cycle tour day - just like our ex presidents slogan was make every day N M day!
  15. I got mine today and it was B so really happy. But.... Their always need to be 1 But and mine is it is not B 1!! We as committee members always use to get the number 1 of the seeded numbers Cat you qualified for - so even this perk has gone!!! B 1 has such a nice ring to it - their can only BE ONE (B1)!!! So who ever get's B1 do you mind swoping - naturally I will have the swop done correctly in the office!
  16. Raymond! This pics is so porno... You should have come to the VIP Garmin after party in Paris - you miss out big time. At least you made Durban this past weekend.
  17. Cassie - can I leave you to do the nomination etc - closses 5 working days before the AGM? Reason been I am overseas at the time of the AGM and they may ask for the person who has nominated people also to be present.
  18. Frail - are you currently still a paid up member for PPA? Please send me your details as I want to nominate you for the committee - AGM is 1st week of next month!
  19. Find a sponsor and the Tour can happen! For an event like the TDF in RSA you need at least R2 million from the main sponsor with some smaller sponsors also. All accommodation and airfares needs to be paid for all the rider and R2 million would be the bear minimum! By the way next year is not looking G8 as even the Giro del Capo may not happen! Paul has been to RSA and Phil comes often but they have to try and say that France is a better place but they actually do know better!
  20. 18th August I was told!
  21. Andy won the stage when he could go with Alberto's final attack about 3Km before the line.
  22. Um If I recall after Ullrich waited for Lance, Lance attacked that same stage - so at least the pro's have learn't from mistakes of other pro's - don't kick a gift horse in the mouth! But Andy started a poker game yesterday - he admitted to that! Possible a stupid poker player as he may have ridden himself into 3rd on GC by the end of the tour as the riders who made time on him yesterday can TT well! Today he was the Big blind - and yes was dealt a **** hand but you cant win all hands at poker - he did will to stay the 2nd highest stack at the final table Looking at the guys Contador was with at the top of the climb and considering he was not doing match sprinting tactics with Andy HE did WAIT but could not let the other go! Think about that guys. He certainly did not do all the driving down the climb! Hey the "final table" are known to be worse on climbs as Contador! What did Andy teammate Spartikus say about cobbles and crashing? Well believe me you expect riders to get dropped on climbs like that!
  23. And what about match fixing - well now we know it does not exist in cycling!!! Or do we?
  24. From what I saw Contador was riding back to Andy. Then Andy made a basic error of changing gear under pressure. Why must Contador now lose his rhythm to wait for Andy's error? Yes if he had he would have been considers a gentleman - but lets see if it actually make any difference on by Sunday! But he certainly was not attacking the yellow jersey - he just did not slam on brakes to wait! Looking at the guys Contador was with at the top of the climb and considering he was not doing match sprinting tactics with Andy he did wait but could not let the other go! Think about that guys. He certainly did not do all the driving down the climb!
