  1. Thanks LL, Already tried this - big on cassette and chain ring. It did not work
  2. Hi Hubbers. I recently became the proud owner of a Niner RIP 9. It handles and rides like a dream... That is until the chain drops off the chain rings. This usually happens whilst descending. Can anybody give me some insight as to why this is happening and how to go about rectifying it. I'm running SRAM X9 2x10. Tension in the chain seems fine, the limit screws on the FD is at the correct settings and the gap between the big chain ring and the FD is about a matchstick's width. Not sure what else to look for... If you can, please refrain from posting things along the lines of it is be happening because it are a 29er. Thank in advance!
  3. DaleE. Let me put it another way. How much do you weigh? If you are above say 86kg don't be bothered about the weight of the bike since the extra kg's wont really make a difference and cutting beer from your diet will save you loads and loads of ZARS and reduce your weight. If you weigh less than 70kg's go for the lighter one. My personal yard stick so no science or anything involved there so spare me the flaming. I moved from a light 26" HT Spez to a 29" Niner RIP 9 and in all honesty I'm more comfortable on the heavier bike and the increase in weight is not that noticeable. I weigh a beefy 91kg's and do mostly the type of riding you do (ie long hours in the saddle, hence comfort is king). First and foremost find out what works for you and buy accordingly.
  4. As mentioned before on the Sawyer - that looks exactly like the neon pink, yellow and green Invader beach cruisers they used to sell at P&P in the early nineties. The Invader had a better paint job and a cooler handle bar.
  5. I use "normal patch & solution" patches (the big red & black el cheapo jobs) and some super glue on a well cleaned tyre. Just stick the bugger (with the super glue) on the inside of the tyre to cover the cut.
  6. The first one looks like it has been left out in the Karoo sun for far too long. Road bike is helluva nice!
  7. Thanks for the feedback. Will swing by in the first week of Feb then.
  8. Hi CMM. Congrats on the new shop and good luck! Do you guys sell the girlie Ghost bikes and if so, do you have any in stock? The missus is shopping around for a new bike. Cheers
  9. Congrats Raceface and all the best ! As mentioned by Bos, try Woodstock Cycleworks. They've done some awesome work and might be able to point you in the right direction. See http://www.woodstockcycleworks.com/projects/
  10. They have a couple of very good deals in store. Take lots of money. Bought some shoes there - the price at Cyclelab was R3,199.00. Their everyday low price was R1,499.00.
  11. Funny that - the name of the pic you loaded. That is what I call my bike when cycling on severely rutted roads...
  12. Could also be the old Specialized stock. http://www.specialized-sa.co.za/pdf/1112_Speicalized_EndOfYear_Bike_WEB.pdf
  13. These guys perhaps? http://www.thesportsbasement.co.za/p/127/rockhopper-comp
  14. Did you say Cajees?!? Try and take somebody who is familiar with mtb equipment and the Cajees modus operandi with you when going back to the store. They are known for pulling wool over the cyclists' eyes. Also check on the Ghost website that the bike has not been altered from it's OEM state.
  15. Looks like Assos kit is too expensive for the pro teams.

  18. I'm part of a BBM group on the other side of the Spruit (Witkoppen end). One of the members on the group noted the following upon me asking for more details: I'm not sure. A friend of mine heard the guy talk on his phone in the shop and the asked him about it afterwards. The guy just said they were riding down the spruit and they were going quite fast when guys stood in front and behind them with guns. They had pepper spray but couldn't do anything with it. They just wanted the bikes and nothing else. My friend then immediately phoned me to tell me about it I would assume it must be somewhere on the Sunninghill side because I've never heard of any incidents from Fratelli's upwards.
