  1. +1 Go with the Flow!
  2. Hi FC. I weigh just over 90 and I did not even bother with the Crest's on my 29er. If I want to save weight I'll cut down on the beer and red meat. Not going to happen so I settled for the Flow's. Tough as nails. At 115kg's I would not even worry about the couple of extra grammes saved the Crest's would offer you. At my weight I would not settle for the Crests - specially in 29er guise. If you are looking at 26" wheels, rather go for the 355's if you are a bit concerned about weight. Strong wheels but not as heavy as the Flow's and will survive anything a xc race will throw at you. I have them on my 26er and am very happy with them. If you are not keen on the ZTR's, have a look at the Shimano XT or SLX wheels. Replacement spokes on the Shimano's can be expensive and difficult to find. Good luck!
  3. Thanks and yes they are!
  4. Spokes were R14.56 per spoke and nipples were R1.80.
  5. More or less behind World Wear off Beyers Naude.
  6. Nope, he sourced everything. Some time I had a set of ZTR355 on Hope Pro 2's built by a reputable company in CPT. When I received it the spokes were loose and I had to take it to JB to sort out. Decided that with the new set it would be better if I can get it locally (JHB) built. JB guarantees his workmanship and his prices arent too bad.
  7. Check PM
  8. Had a pair of ZTR Flow 29er's on Hope Pro 2's built by him. Used Sapim double butted spokes and brass nipples. Absolutely bomb proof. EDIT: I see the labour cost per wheel was about R300.
  9. Mate of mine used to ride those looong skateboards wiff big wheels in the 'cane fields. Think he had a Sector 9. I say "used" since he ended up in hospital with a broken collor bone and a couple of metal bits & bobs in his shoulder.
  10. Used to stay in Durban North in the 90's. Where was the competition held? Cool bikes!
  11. Damn yous! Now I have to buy something...
  12. Jeez. So sad. The behaviour of a few spoling it for the rest of us.
  13. Welcome to thehub treak@13. Do a search on the hub for "crc" or "chain reaction cycles". You are not the first to ask those questions. Try to get an order for over R3k and shipping will be free. If it is a bit steep, club in with some mates or fellow hubbers. The more you shop, the more you save!
  14. How does the dq's work in track cycling? Earlier GB and now China. edit: something to do with positioning of rider 1's tyre in relation rider2's
  15. What he said. Utterly boring though. If I'm not mistaken, Rouxtjie has a nice Endomondo map
  16. If it is a burning question I'll much rather settle for a good anti biotic topical cream....
  17. ...seems you are a bit late in the the game... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/111863-the-hub-sa-endomondo-challenges/page__hl__endomondo__fromsearch__1 ...some more here.... https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=
  18. Not entirely true, it'll push up your entry fee
  19. Don't use mine for sports activities. Only in the car, office, docking stations in and around the house & whilst travelling. Classic would get my vote. 160GB of space and killer battery life.
  20. Stumpy FSR has been out for some time. Mate of mine has the Stumpy FSR 29er. He seems to think that he should've gone for the Epic since he rides mostly with his missus - she hates single track or technically challenging rides. She is on a carbon Epic 29er FSR. That said, I have a Niner RIP 9 and prefer the geometry and setup of the Stumpy to the Epic since it suits my riding style better. I prefer technical single track and longer travel bikes with a more relaxed geometry to the race orientated bikes. I weigh about 90 or so. That being said you cant go wrong with either one of the two.
  21. Usually I don't buy their phodies but they got a couple of good shots of me doing the Adventure. Considering I spent a lot on entry fees, about R340 on toll fees, R2300 on fuel and then some more money on beer, accommodation and sundry items and 1980km of travelling; R320 does not seem too excessive for some good quality pics. 9 in total. All the pics I took was in the race village and of my mates riding - nothing of me. Happy customer this side!
  22. I have 2 entries available for the looong one. Mahala. Free. Gratis. Let me know.
