  1. Can a noob runner run a 1h15 half marathon in 6 weeks. Go.. http://www.vanzweelism.com/index.php/2019/05/22/can-a-noob-runner-do-a-sub-75-minute-half-marathon-in-6-weeks/?fbclid=IwAR0svHg1upqNXO0L5UpWgwkXHcJHIbPPEkqmlee9okb6ne5nAwS-chjHZFo
  2. Im going to climb on the rant wagon. Im a novice, and was really looking forward to getting some nice official Comrades gear. There was absolutely NOTHING. Unless you wear XL. No other sizes available. The cheap iron label would probably come of after one wash as well. That said the shirt in the goodie bag is really nice quality.
  3. They were all standing around at the expo, not looking very impressed. Some were even allowed to get their race packs before being told they cant run.
  4. Dont underestimate the Maxed shoes. They put a great deal of R&D into all their shoes. They even have running specific shoes in very small sizes.
  5. Top of my feet are quite high, so if I lace too tight it gets painful, another reason why I prefer a narrow secure fit. I dont use lock lace technique but I do use that last lace hole.
  6. I actually wear smaller running shoes than my day to day formal shoes. Going against every single expert opinion on Googles. *shock and horror*
  7. To me it makes sense that your foot will slide forward in a wider shoe, and that can cause black toe nails and blisters. The narrow fit definitely works for me. I tried Innov 8, wich is much wider than my Salomons, and for the first time I had blisters on my soles and in between my toes. But like I said before, everything depends on the shape of your feet. I have long narrow feet, I need a shoe that fits securely. Anything more than a 5mm gap on the front and sides and I get toe issues and terrible heel slip.
  8. Urgh. The taper got hold of me properly. Feeling down, stiff and just bleh. Luckily only two more days of work, then I can start avoiding all the sick people.
  9. Narrow, better fitting shoes solved my toe issues. I have skinny feet, so in wide shoes they slide forward and bump against the front and sides. In a narrow shoe my feet are much more secured. I run with a 5mm toe gap with no issues at all.
  10. It seems like all Comrades runners on Strava are injured???? Is this normal or is it the nerves? I took 2 really easy weeks after my knee niggle, its getting better every day and my legs feel strong and rested. Now to stay healthy for the next two weeks.
  11. You have so many weapons at your disposal. Snot bombs, well aimed water sachets, sharts...
  12. I hurt my knee coming down that camber on Omtom. Never thought much about it and Im still able to run pain free, but its always stiff and sore afterwards. Giving it another week and then I'll consider cortisone shots. Anyone with first hand experience?
  13. Those Comrades shirts are aweful. Who came up with such a bland design?
  14. "Parents who raise children as vegans should be prosecuted..." https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/05/16/parents-raise-children-vegans-should-prosecuted-say-belgian
  15. I finally understand veganism.
  16. But he stopped and posed for pictures at the waterpoints.
  17. The best battle from all 8 seasons. That backdrop was just insane.
  18. But not almonds. Lets keep it vegan.
  19. Have you seen the shapes and sizes of some of the Comrades finishers... ????
  20. Ok... So how many have you done?
  21. Should have used vegan caffeine.
  22. Well they've got Sani Stagger on there.
