  1. I struggled with itb for 6months. It usually started after 2km, at 4km I couldn't even walk. The next day I couldn't bend my knee. Fisio didn't help much, and it literally disappeared overnight. Almost two years now without any pain, touch wood.
  2. I have a gynecologist friend who also lost his ring while on the job.
  3. The inflammation and pain wont subside if you keep doing what caused it in the first place. To stop running is not the answer, to stop running before you feel any pain is. If you continue running even through the slightest notion of itb pain you will make it worse
  4. Rest. And 12 weeks of heel drops. Im in week 8 of rehab now and the results are only showing now.
  5. Its already really cold in the Free State. Saturday morning when I started it was 2 degree c. But with tights and a long sleeve shirt I was already uncomfortable after 15mins. But its way to cold to run with short sleeves and shorts. I think the skull cap really cause you to overheat quickly.
  6. What is your go to winter running gear? Atm Im still doing very early morning runs, and tights with a long sleeve t shirt is still a little overkill. But Im sure that will change soon. Will like to put off treadmill running for as long as possible.
  7. I think I have a shoe problem. Told my wife I need to run in a different pair every day, doctors orders.????
  8. Just one Allergex knocks me out. And I wake up all confused. For some reason it doesn't react well with my body.
  9. Maybe, but how will you break your toe?
  10. Snorting wasabi definitely helps to clear up clogged up sinuses.
  11. I missed two months with my Achilles injury. With some serious rehab Im back to running pain free. But Biokinticist prohibited me from running more than 30 minutes until he clears me. Risking a reinjury is just not worth it so Im not doing Comrades. Its still a long year of running and Skyrun is calling. I try to ignore Strava, the serious Comrades miles gives me a bad case of fomo.
  12. All these numbers being thrown around scares me. Im on about 480km, after missing the whole of March. Im running again, slowly. Will see how the weekend long run goes.
  13. Quick question for all the Comrades runners. What is your total distance year to date? And what are you aiming for?
  14. There is a discussion about this on the Comrades group. Distances from Jan to now varies between 300km and 3000km. Dont know how its possible to run 250km/week for 6 months leading up to Comrades.
  15. I read some reviews on them, some mentioned that the soles loose bounce after a while. Maybe someone that actually use them can give more info. They do look interesting though.
  16. I will have to get a set. At the moment I walk like a duck????
  17. This is me for the next week or so. Last ditched attempt to start running beginning of April. First time in a long time that I woke up without stiffness in the Achilles. So cautiously optimistic.
  18. Yeah, lets send him a card and some flowers.
  19. The other 164 riders saw it. Then again he also didn’t see the pothole.
  20. When I posted about my Achilles acting up I knew something was up, but I still tried running on and off up until this week. Really stupid move. Why cant we just stop running when we are injured ????. I definitely made it worse, but atleast I went from denial to acceptance. I’ll just let it heal properly.
  21. If a miracle happens and I can run beginning of April I’ll be there. Will just write of March as a rest month????
  22. Not at all. The most frustrating thing is thatbI feel absolutely no pain during the day. But as soon as I run It acts up quite badly.
  23. Yesterday I went to a biokinetikist that specializes in running injuries to get to the bottom of my Achilles injury. He diagnosed me with a small partial tear in the Achilles. According to him its not related to running form or over training but due to physical trauma. I have no idea how that happened. Anyway that looks like the end of Comrades. Two weeks of no running and then further evaluation. Will try to get back onto the bike now, for what its worth.
  24. Ive been following Camiles training, wich consists of a lot of ultra races, and she almost always wins overall. Its just insane, how her body holds up is beyond me.
