  1. Good luck Lex, it will take time but you will adapt. I travel to Kenya every few weeks, and loose a whole weeks training every time. Its actually beneficial to my running. I get more rest and concentrate on more quality runs.
  2. According to that calculator my 10k and HM times are spot on. My 5k pb is 1min faster than the calculator. But apparently I must run my marathons 45 minutes faster????
  3. Out of interest, what is the pace per km difference between your 5k and Half Marathon PB? Mine is about 20s, the 5km obviously being the faster. Dont know if this on par or if I should start running faster 5ks????
  4. I managed 40km plus weeks for the last 8 weeks. And I run 4h30 in the mornings. Not really bothered by the cold, but this Sunday it was one of those days where the cold just goes into your bones.
  5. You are obviously not from the Free State.
  6. Also fell short of my goal last week. Was on track and planned to do a long run on Sunday. After 7km I just wasnt feeling it and it was bloody freezing, so I went home. Not enough motivation this time of year to push through crappy runs.
  7. I've always used Salomon, and there cant be a more comfortable shoe. Its just not possible. They are a litte firm though. Ive used the Hoka Clifton 4s for a few short runs, but Im not sold yet, not as comfortable as my other road shoes. Hopefully they will still run in.
  8. I need some suggestions for Trail shoes. I want something for longer runs, so it needs some cushioning and support. Currently Ive narrowed it down to the Hoka Speedgoat 2 and Salomon Sense Ride. Unlike with road shoes it seems nearly impossible to find a good selection trail shoes in SA.
  9. Roll your feet with a golf ball, but really get it in there. I get peronial tendonitis when I run with shoes that doesn't have enough cushioning. Only thing that helps is daily rolling with a golf ball.
  10. I keep buying faster shoes...Im still slow????
  11. Just had a quick look at the Pegasus 35, its probably the best looking Nike shoe in ages. It has a full length air unit shaped similar to the carbon plate of the fly. Also lighter than the Pegasus 34.
  12. What are you currently using? Pegasus? I would love to give the Zoom Flys a go. The new Pegasus 35 took a lot of the Zooms design characteristics, but doubt if if will be as light.
  13. Do you have more info? I also want to do an early qualifier. Looking for an easy one.. ????
  14. Why on earth are you doing an 80k week? ????
  15. Why make up such a silly excuse if it was all innocent? And timing chips dont come in race bags, or am I missing something?
  16. He is a 3h30 marathon runner. Unless that time is suspect as well.
  17. If you never ran before its closer to a year. From personal experience I can't emphasize enough how important it is to start gradually and do strengthening exercises.
  18. In the same boat, took me two months to get to the acceptance stage. During that time I just did more damage to my injury. Comrades must come and go now, every time I see a post I want to start crying.
  19. There are some nice specials on Ultraspire running belts at http://www.nativesport.co.za.
  20. And to think that the gold medal guys will average +-3:45/km. Its just insane.
  21. To quote Depeche Mode " I think that God's got a sick sense of humour.." Either that or he played a piss matchmaker in some relationships.
  22. This is about average, excluding any running.
  23. My phone notifies me when I walked 10k during the day. Thats normally around 15h00. Maybe thats why I always get overuse injuries????
  24. I struggled with itb for 6months. It usually started after 2km, at 4km I couldn't even walk. The next day I couldn't bend my knee. Fisio didn't help much, and it literally disappeared overnight. Almost two years now without any pain, touch wood.
