  1. Don’t overthink it. You are only punishing yourself.
  2. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Count yourself lucky and pity the new guy.
  3. Wait for that first injury, should pop up pretty soon. Now that sucks.
  4. It seems that I will be running a lot less in the foreseeable future due to this Achilles. 100 days until Comrades, is it time to panic now? I have a very good base from December up until 10 days ago. But the problem is that the big running months are starting now..
  5. I felt mine twitching and tightening a little for months after the worst pain subsided. If you do feel its a little sore after a run ice and rest it immediately.
  6. Running without ITB pain after months of issues is the best feeling ever.
  7. My aim was also 1500km, but it seems that I will have to cut back. But the difference between 1000 and 1500 is massive. Surely it will have a big impact on race day?
  8. Yes its counterproductive, and probably wont even work when your Achilles issues progressed far enough. You need to do eccentric calve raises to strengthen and lengthen your Achilles. Its seems that my Achilles issues started because over the last 2/3 months I ran 90% in a 12mm road shoe. Before that I ran mostly in trail shoes of 6mm and 8mm.
  9. The cushioning on the Cliftons are way different than anything Im used to. Its got a lot of cushion, but it is structured cushioning. You dont feel your feet sinking into the foam, or experience any excess pronation that you might get from cushioning that is too soft. Even the Nike Pegasus feels softer underfoot than the Clifton. I think the main reason people love Hokas is b because it gives all the cushioning you need, while maintaining a solid structure/support.
  10. Check the Ginger runner on YouTube, he regularly reviews Hokas. And his reviews are always honest.
  11. It might both be endurance, but I will self destruct if I run a 42 anywhere close to 21 pace. Might be mental, but a 21 is short enough to push above your comfort level all the way. Maybe after a few more 42s I’ll get there, but I actually hope not. Sounds like way too much pain.
  12. Only raced two 21km before the 42km. But in training Ive done plenty. My longest run before the marathon was only 30km, thats why I decided to run conservatively. I had aspirations of a sub 4, but the closer I got to race day the more respect I got for the distance ????
  13. I’ll be happy if I can run, regardless of distance ???? Took the whole week off after my Achilles acted up, they feel better although still stiff. Started my strength training in all earnest again, it seems that as soon as I dont do my exercises I get injured.
  14. HM 1h45, 5min/km. FM 4h14, 6.01m/km
  15. Depends, I went exactly 1min/km slower than my 21 PB on my first Marathon. Im glad I did because I could run the whole way and finished without feeling broken. Next time I’ll maybe only drop of 30s/min on my 21 time.
  16. So I never watched a single GOT episode. During the holidays I binged watched all 7 series. Wasnt bad. A little too much dragons and fantasy for my liking, but I still found it entertaining. Decided to start watching Vikings, just started season 2 now, but must say its a little of a let down after all the shock endings of GOT.
  17. On Saturday morning I did a 23km run, felt fine. Sunday morning I got up to do an easy run, first steps out of the door and my right Achilles was stiff and painful as hell. Thought it would go away but after 2km I stopped. Don’t understand the sudden onset, didn’t do anything funny, shoe wise etc. This morning I can feel its not happy. Really concerned about it???? Not the time to get injured.
  18. I kept my DSTV for the Sport, but apart from the Australian tennis final I didn’t watch anything for the last 4/5 months. There are so much content on Netflix, kodi and youtube that I dont even consider DSTV. Even before I started streaming I had a Telkom 2mbg uncapped line, I thought that I would have to up the speed, but I dont have any issues streaming multiple devices at once.
  19. If I don’t use my inhaler before a run Im reduced to a walk while breathing trough a straw in no time.
  20. Flirt and squirt
  21. They have some models with dynamic stability, their spin on anti pronation. But like I said earlier, try the Clifton, even though its neutral it definitely has a lot of arch support wich will reduce pronation. Your foot sits quite deep in the shoe, so you don’t actually notice that slab of foam.
  22. Im size 11. So I look like a really skinny clown.
  23. So these arrived yesterday, Clifton4s. I went trough a few months of roller coasting decision making before buying them. Getting my hands on a demo pair for a few minutes swayed my mind. They feel like nothing Ive experienced before. They have way more support than any of my other neutral shoes, one of the main reasons I got them. Sizing is definitely not standard, I got half a size bigger and it is still more snug than any of my other shoes. They have a similar feel and sizing to the Salomon S Lab range. I expected it to be lighter, but they are still somewhat lighter than my Nike Vomeros, even though its a bigger size. Will give them a quick run tomorrow morning.
