  1. I started running thanks to Parkrun about two years ago. PB is around 21min. But I’ve been running that consistently for months, obviously need to do some extra work to get any faster????
  2. I rotate between two pairs of Pegasus and a pair of Vomeros. So far it looks like they will last much longer than any of my other shoes. On a pair of NB980s I got exactly 199km before they were toast. The NB rep blamed it on an aggressive toe off???? On my Salomon trail shoes I get just under 500km. They still look fine but after that they just kill my feet.
  3. I should get a training program, but I cant???? I find it mind numbing. I’ll just stick to one long rung and a speed session every week. I should end up doing +- 40km a week. Qualifier will be my first marathon, just need to get the over and done with????
  4. What is the ideal December training for Comrades? That said Im probably doing my Qualfier in Jan, so should probably follow a marathon program over the holidays?
  5. I wont mind some cooler weather, Went running just after 4 this morning and it was hot! December is going to be sweltering.
  6. Just do 10k in that sand, and you dont need to worry about elevation.
  7. Thanks for this, such a simple exercise, but it works everything from my toes to my butt. Almost two weeks of about a minute a day and Im back to running 10km with no pain.
  8. Camille by a mile. She was a machine last year, looks even better now.
  9. Seeing that it so quiet on here. Hows this, over the weekend Comrades winner Camille Herron ran a 100mile race in 12h42. At a modest pace of 4:45/km. In the process beating the first man by 30mins. I guess she qualified for Comrades?????
  10. It did affect the lower leg, where the peroneal becomes tendenous, and just beneath the ankle, round about where the one tendon connects. Both these issues resolved after PT, but the persistent pain is on my footsole, right on the outer edge.
  11. Anyone on here that delt with Peroneal Tendinitis before? Ive been struggling for close to month now. Had some physio and dry needling wich reduced the constant pain by 90%. I can run Excately 1.6km on the road before wobbling home. Tested in on the treadmill and the trail, and I can run 10km before its starts getting painful. After a few days rest it feels fine, but flares up quickly during a run.
  12. Sound ridiculous, but between kids and work and other grown up stuff, finding 15mins a day is not easy. I normally do mine around 10/11 at night, and then go to bed. Mornings is a nightmare.
  13. Those physio ones dont last a week. I use a 700c tube cut to size.????
  14. I do Clamshells with strong resistance bands and single leg bridges religiously now. It keeps my itb and hip niggles at bay, if I skip it for two weeks I can feel my itb starting on long runs.
  15. I found a place in PMB close to the start. Stayed there for work a month back and decided to book for Comrades.
  16. I can run in a pair of Salomon trail shoes out of the box with no issues. They just fit my feet like gloves. Pitt that their road shoes are terrible. In road shoes I couldn't find something remotely close in comfort and suppport. In road shoes I tried Salomon, NB 980 and 1080, Nike Pegasus and Vomero. Of all of them the I found the Pegasus the best, really comfortable shoe. Not sure how they will hold up in Comades though.
  17. That would be great. At the moment trail and error in finding the perfect road shoe is making me bankrupt.
  18. Just posting if someone is interested. Ive got a almost brand new pair of Nike Vomero 11s. Size 10.5 UK. I did one run in them and some walking around the house. I just cant get used to the fit. I prefer the tighter fit of the Pegasus. R800, wich is about half what I paid.
  19. Thats a bargain! I tried them on, feels great. Sizing is just a little off.
  20. Two weeks ago I did a trail run half marathon. It was raining and muddy, so stupid me decided to run in an old pair of Salomons, with 800km plus on them. Long story short, I ended up with tendinitis in both feet. Had to lay flat on my back for two days, unable to even walk. Today is the first day I can move around with almost no pain...touch wood. Its just amazing how quickly an injury can pop up. School fees paid, but 3 weeks before Comrades qualifying...????

  22. And the 22 500 Comrades entries????
  23. Time to get one going? It's amazing how it boomed in SA. We are the third biggest by locations in the world.
